February release preview - The Inevitables
🕑 Added 2022-01-27 23:26:51 +0000 UTCHello everyone,
February is the month of the Inevitables as chosen by all you fine people in this month's poll. But there is also going to be another freebie giveaway much like this one. Read on further ahead to find out what it is. So, what are the inevitables?
These sentient constructs are beings of absolute law that act as custodians of order throughout the multiverse. I could attempt to cover their lore here but Mrrhex has done a much better job than I ever could. In 5e only the Marut has made its appearance in Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes and it has sadly been radically revamped in both its looks and its general purpose. The rest of the inevitables have not been seen since 3.5 as far as I know although they can be found in Pathfinder.
The five types of inevitables that we are going to be covering are the following.
- Zelekhut - A winged centaur-like automaton with spiked chains shooting out of its forearm as its main weapon. These guys are like the patrolman of the multiverse tasked with giving chase to fugitives and bringing them to justice.
They are the most numerous and weakest of the inevitables having a CR of 9 in 3.5 - Kolyarut - Often mistaken for a warforged, these bipedal skeleton like automata are the attorneys of the multiverse. They make sure that contracts follow sound rules of procedure but they also pack a punch at CR 12.
- Marut - The custodians of the inevitability of death come in the form of a stout human-like black rock golem covered in bronze plate armor. Their fists are their main weapon with which they punish those who would cheat death. In 5e, the Marut are radically different in both looks and mission and come at an insane CR of 25.
- Quarut - These slick humanoid automata are the custodians of time. They are literally time cops! They have the power to travel in time with the sole purpose of apprehending those who would mess with the fabric of time. High level mages that go about spamming time stop after every long rest are bound to eventually be visited by a very angry, yet graceful, Quarut. In 3.5 Quaruts had a CR of 17 which probably translates to something closer to 27-28 in this edition.
- Varakhut - The custodions of godhood. These sinister looking robots have been created with the sole purpose of protecting godhood which includes preventing the ascension to godhood. Needless to say these guys are the cream of the crop in terms of power. Very few things can stand against a Varakhut and these things are probably among the powerful gods. A CR 30 is almost required for this guy.
I am going to be providing statblocks for all these creatures but feel free to pitch in on Discord with your ideas and insights on what exactly those statblocks should be.
A new random freebie
As many of you know, I also dabble in warhammer 40k and I have made a habbit out of only using the models I personally sculpt. For some time now I was working on a new Imperial Fists army and I realised I needed some terminators. I am only using firstborn space marines after all. So, during this month I am going to be sharing the terminators I am sculpting for my own personal use. They are going to be scaled accordingly so they are going to look properly imposing as they should!
Here is the WIP I've done for the base terminator a few months back. There is a lot more work to be done on them so take the looks mostly as a proof of concept.

And here is me attempting to make sense of Tactical Dreadnaught Armor and the dude inside.

I dont know yet if all the weapon options are going to be included in this month's release although I certainly will try. I am going to be making a captain in TDA with a combi plasma and a thunder hammer though for sure. I really need damage 3 weapons cause everyone plays deathguard around here.
As with all my previous releases, this one is going to be trickling through during the month.
That's it for now.
Thank you everyone for your support - your patronage is greatly appreciated and I hope I continue to be worthy of your trust!

The unarmoured marines were done as a comission some time ago so I cant share them as stl models for printing. I can give you the base model which I use as a dummy though.

WOWOWOWOW. Any chance you can also share that amazing naked marine? would love to do some high res renders exactly like what you are showing there. Even a cross section model could be really cool!
Awesome
