February 2025 Status Report
🕑 Added 2025-02-28 20:59:08 +0000 UTCAfter the last status report there was more assorted bug fixes across that week, along with checking in with artists for ongoing commissions and starting new ones, nothing finished yet else I'd probably share it in this status report. As well as editing a bunch of new Amy content that Val's been working on for the update.
The next week was planning out the next encounter I wanted to add and thinking on some surrounding stuff for what to do after it for the districts to progress in a sane way, as well as starting on the encounter and fight for the Fashionable Succubus [the Psudo-Generic who acts as a shop keeper for Arch-Light.]
And while my plan for the last week of this shorter month was to see if I could get the encounter and fight fully finished for an update, or if I'd need to push back the release, I've been sick for the majority of this week, and writing with a headache is not exactly a good idea. I have at least chipped away at some smaller things, and done more editing on the still ongoing new [and basically ready to go as is] Amy content, and I do think I'm starting to feel better, but it definitely was a substantial wrench in my plans.
So the update will be ready sometime next month, and I may also consider just working on it until the end of that month for hopefully a chunkier update before April. Which I would like to do something for April 1st again, though I'm not sure what at the moment, which I think would be better as a follow up to the MGD update rather than in the middle of an ongoing update cycle if i released the next version mid month. But not fully sure.
Which for some more unfortunate news regarding art that I should open up about, about a year ago Otani basically fell off the face of the planet, said artist doing quite a bit of character art for the game and CGs, such as the current imps and Vili, mimic, the camper trio, the Livewire Voltlins, and more, including art that isn't even in the game yet. As far as I am aware Otani is okay, but as it stands I have no idea when they will be available for commissions again, if ever. Which puts me in a bit of a tricky situation for how to proceed with getting those characters further additions [Expression/Outfits] or CGs.
I'm still not really sure what to do about it to be honest, while MGD does have a assorted styles in game, I do try to avoid overlapping/patchworking artists where possible. [Peoples art styles changing and improving make it also a bit of a hindsight thing too, but that's different.] Given the sheer number of characters Otani has done it should also be stated that getting them all redone by another artist is basically not sanely feasible.
Of course, people should not bother the artist in any form, I am just keeping people informed on the situation.
All that said I hope everyone has had a wonderful February and will have an even better March!

To your whole team Keep up the work and keep striving for better. Wish you good fortune and health.

It's less of a lore reason issue and more of a style consistency one for characters.

I think it would be more complicated than that to do style emulation along with finding an artist to do it. Jiffic could potentially even do it tbh, but he has a lot of other stuff he needs to do. Ideally I'd just be able to keep on with Otani.

Thank you for your hard work in health, and slightly less hard work in sickness (as it should be!) Thresh! Your monthly reports are always so comforting to see, and hearing that various contents are progressing is very exciting! I do hope Otani comes back, because I love their work, but of course life comes before hot monster girls, so best wishes are all I give. CGs can wait for the most part, anyway, with the killer writing you and the team do <3

A trend I've noticed with content creators is getting sick and headaches and stuff, I do wonder if it's due to the life style of working how yall do T-T I hope your taking care of your self as well! Vitamins and walks and getting up every hour!

You could look around to see if you can find an artist with a similar style as Otani. I'm sure people in the discord would be happy to help search if you dropped an everyone ping and just said "if you find someone, just drop a name and link in x channel so I can potentially reach out to them"

Spitball idea, You could incorporate some sort of "Lust vision" mechanic in the game to show the long term effects of falling prey to the monster girls in Lucidia and use that as a reason why certain characters look different at certain times!
