It's been a busy week, as like others, and I'm all up for it.
Writing a ball was quite the experience, even if it hurt the pacing a little, but painting the picture of a Victorian town and its strangeness, considering the backdrop of a LitRPG System, was fun! And we have our clinic here coming up soon, and coming up fast.
I'm not at the point where I'm quite comfortable with the story and how it's going. There are quite a bit foreshadowing going on across the chapters, and the time for dealing with them is fast approaching.
But for today's roundup I have two important questions.
First of all, as some of you know, I've signed Arcanist with Aethon, and I'm about to deliver them the first book's manuscript. I thought the first 84 chapters worked quite well as a first book. If you remember, Valens swears the Sun's Oath at the end of that sequence. So that will be Book 1. Do tell me your opinions about it.
The second question concerns general feedback and how you will feel about certain decisions I'm considering.
I have a robust magic system for this book, and as you're aware, just as a vast world behind it. Up to this point, I was careful with handling that part of the book, sprinkling information here and there rather than dumping it straight.
However, information such as the general ranks of Dwellers and Humans doesn't work with that approach, and as a member of the Golden Ward, Valens now has access to more information.
So I'm considering doing a bit of an info-dumpy chapter in the future.

I'd suggest a gradual introduction of knowledge as it becomes relevant to the story. For me personally, I end up glossing over or completely forgetting info dumped information when it's actually brought up later. Explaining it as the story unfolds tends to better ingrain the information. Additionally, you still might have to repeat the information when it's relevant due to the time passed since the information was learned. It's good for adding length to a story, but information repeated too regularly can also be seen as insulting to the reader.
