Laptop worked fine apart from the display which wouldn't turn on. It's been at the repair shop for a couple days now so I should be able to get back drawing

Are there any blinking lights on the sides or back? If so, tell me the blink code (two white, one orange, stuff like that). I used to work tech support so I might be able to help if I can diagnose the issue.
