"I'm not sure you realize how lucky you are..?" Caleb sighed. "A trip to Miami sounds like absolute heaven, right now!"
"You think he's lucky?!" Bryan scoffed. "I think he's crazy! No one in their right mind willingly travels twelve hundred-plus miles away from home when they're due in three weeks!"
"That's not true! I would!" Caleb nodded.
"Thank you, Caleb!" Nate nodded back at him before turning to look at Bryan as he raised his brows.
"I still think you're crazy!"
And I still think you're jealous!" Nate countered.
"Whatever… I can't believe your doctor actually signed off on you taking the trip?!" Bryan countered, ignoring the jab.
"Well he did," his pregnant friend confirmed. "Which is good 'cause the airline wouldn't let me fly without a doctor's note."
"Go figure!" He huffed.
"I get it, but it's not that big a deal… I'm not due for another three weeks and I'll only be gone for one."
"You look like you were due three weeks ago!" Bryan laughed as he shook his head.
"Yeah, yeah…" Nate rolled his eyes. "I got a little bigger than I expected. Than we all expected, OK?"
"I just want you and Henry to be safe!"
"I appreciate the concern. Really, I do," he nodded. "But Dr. Ryan signed off and he's a medical professional, not a professional worrywart!" He couldn't help but tease as he leaned in over his big belly and boobs to grab his decaffeinated tea.
In keeping with the name he'd just been called, Bryan didn't bother reacting to it, but continued to worry. "But you hate flying. Did you consider what it'll be like having to now?"
"I did. A lot, because I do hate flying."
"And you're still gonna go?!"
"Yes, Bryan, I'm still gonna go," Nate confirmed. "To make the flight as enjoyable as possible, I sprung for first-class, 'cause God knows I need the room!" He chuckled as he looked down at his bulbous self, noting how extra bulbous he looked sitting with his belly and boobs all crammed in his lap.
"Leave him alone, Bryan!" Caleb scolded. "Nate deserves to go, if not just 'cause this winter's been especially shitty, but because he's about to be strapped for time and money, taking care of our dear, play-nephew, Henry, for the next eighteen years!"
"Jesus!" Nate huffed as he took his right hand from his belly and placed it over his bra encased left breast. "A little much, Caleb…"
"What?!" His always slightly clueless friend shrugged. "It's the truth!"
"Yes, I suppose it is," Nate sighed. "But thank you for your support. Now can we try to enjoy the rest of our time before I have to leave?" He requested as he turned to look at Bryan. "Which means you're gonna need to stop worrying about Henry and I!"
"Easier said than done!"
"If I promise to check in with you every day I'm gone, can we please stop talking about this now?"
"Fine."
"Thank you!"
"Um…" Caleb began.
"Yes..?" Nate asked.
"If we're not gonna talk about your pregnancy or your trip…"
"My babymoon."
"Right. Anyway, if we don't talk about that, what else is there to talk about?" Caleb asked in all seriousness. "Nothing's going on around here and won't till the spring thaw."
Bryan nodded in agreement. "Which means you know what we'll be doing while you're away."
"I do?" Nate frowned.
"You do!" Bryan nodded some more. "Nothing! We'll be doing absolutely nothing!"
"Just like me!" Nate smirked. "Except I'll be doing nothing down in Miami, at the pool or down on the beach!"
"That does sound pretty damn nice," Bryan had to admit. "We should've come with you! But no," he shook his head. "Caleb's right."
"I am?"
"Yep. Nate deserves to go on his babymoon by himself," he nodded. "Have one last hurrah."
"It's not gonna be my last ever!" Nate rolled his eyes as he shook his head. "Just my last for probably a couple years and without Henry in tow."
"You're literally towing him now!" Caleb laughed. "Speaking of towing… Do you still need me to bring your big, pregnant ass to the airport?"
"Because I'd really rather not pay a hundred bucks for an Uber, I'll ignore the last part of what you said and just say, yes, so long as you don't mind?"
"I don't," he shook his head. "It'll be good to take the car out. Pretty sure I haven't driven it since Christmas."
"It's not good to let a car sit like that," Bryan informed in his classic fashion. "Sitting unused for extended periods of time is just as bad for a car as overuse or…"
"Speaking of sitting for extended periods of time," Nate cut in as he pushed back from the table. "My ass is falling asleep and Henry's been laying on my bladder for the last forty minutes, so if you'll… excuse me…" he grunted as he stood.
"Are you ready to go after that?" Caleb asked. "We can get the check while you're taking care of business."
"I'd love to stay longer, but I do have to finish packing," Nate replied. "I almost might need to run to the store if stuff ends up not fitting, which it probably won't…" he groaned and rolled his eyes.
"Just go shop once you get down there," Caleb suggested. "There'll be a better seasonal selection and you won't have as much to haul along with you, on the way there, anyway…"
"That's a good point," Nate nodded as he reached back to grab his wallet. "And yeah, get the check while I'm…"
"We've got this," Bryan cut him off. "Our bon voyage present."
"Some present!" Caleb huffed. "He only got a tea!"
"It's the thought that counts!" Bryan rolled his eyes.
After relieving himself, Nate returned to the table but didn't sit. Bryan and Caleb stood and the three friends proceeded to exchange awkward hugs thanks to Nate's Henry-containing belly and breasts. The group drew quite a few stares from the other diners as they said their goodbyes, Caleb and Nate confirming what time he needed to be picked up in order to make it to the airport on time the following morning.
Outside, Nate debated hailing a cab or waddling the few blocks back to his apartment. He decided to waddle since it wasn't too cold or raining for a change. As he slowly made his way, he thought about his trip. He'd been excited because he really did need a break, but now that he had to pack and get on a dreaded airplane the next day, he was slightly less enthused.
Initially, his doctor wasn't enthused about him wanting to travel so late in his pregnancy. Knowing this would be the case before he asked, Nate had gone to the appointment prepared to do battle if necessary. He'd done some research and found a doctor down in Miami who was willing to see him if anything came up. This satisfied Nate's actual doctor, who issued him a doctor's note to give the airline and wished him fun (but not too much) in the sun.
Not only did Nate need to get away from the cold and dreary city, he needed to try and enjoy the remaining time he had before he officially became a dad. He was excited to become one, but also increasingly nervous. Nate made sure to take care of everything still on his list before he lift, including putting the finishing touches on Henry's nursery, so he didn't have to worry about anything while he was away. All he'd have to worry about when he got back was having Henry, which Nate did his best to not think about.
Back at his apartment, as he set to packing, he belatedly realized he didn't have much warm weather clothing that would fit at the moment… Since this was his first pregnancy, all of Nate's biggest paternity clothes were cold weather oriented. He decided that since he didn't know anyone in Miami, and since it would be pretty quiet at this time of year, he'd be able to get away with wearing pre-pregnancy clothes and just deal with them being too tight and/or showing some belly.
During his visits in the past, Nate had seen plenty of guys letting their bellies hang out of their shirts or not even bothering to wear one at all, all proud of the bun in their oven. While Miami was a pretty free-spirited place, Nate still didn't plan on letting it all hang out so if he needed to, he'd go shopping there like Caleb had suggested.
Early the next morning, Caleb was parked at the curb waiting for him. He got Nate to the airport right on time. Big and obviously pregnant as he was, no one ended up asking Nate if he'd been medically cleared to fly, which kind of irked him till he realized he might still need his doctor's note on the way back. Once he got on the plane, he did have to ask the woman seated next to him to switch so he could have the aisle. Nate needlessly told her he'd most likely have to get up to use the bathroom at least a few times during the three hour flight, which was all it took for her to happily agree to the switch.
Once they had, the two made small talk, and like pretty much everyone else, not long after take off, the woman asked if she could feel Nate's belly. Used to the request by now, he hiked his shirt all the way up to just under his breasts, exposing his biggest ball of flesh to her (and a few others.) Given how far along he was, his belly was still incredibly round. At the moment, only one of Henry's elbows poked out on the right side. Cramped as he was increasingly getting, Henry remained an active baby but not on the plane, which his father took as a much appreciated blessing given how much of his "extra roomy" first-class seat he was taking up.
After a smooth flight and a quick Uber XL ride, Nate arrived at his hotel. Immediately, the clerk at the desk recognized him from his frequent trips in the past. She gave him a big, genuine smile when she saw his big belly, and commented on how he was going to need a crib put in the room the next time he visited. Once she got Nate checked in, she called a bellboy to help bring his things up to the room for him.
After tipping the bellboy and closing the door behind him, Nate promptly set to stripping. He was still wearing his jacket and a sweater and jeans, so now that he was down in Florida, where it was a balmy 77 degrees and he was heavily pregnant, he was also melting. Having not tried on anything he'd packed, Nate was curious to see what if anything would "fit," hoping he could throw something together to relax in before probably heading out to shop.
Fortunately, the first pants he pulled from his bag, a lightweight pair of linen capris, worked. Well, sort of… Nate was able to tie the drawstring, but very low on his waist, beneath his belly. He was happy though because not only had his waist naturally expanded, but his hips had widened a good deal and his ass just got bigger and bigger as his pregnancy progressed. That last part he didn't mind because now, Nate had the bubble butt he'd always wanted.
Next, he pulled out a white tank top. It was much harder to work himself into compared to the last time he'd worn it, several months and many pounds ago, but he got it on. The tank was skin tight but managed to cover most of his belly. Waddling over to the mirror, Nate turned profile and checked his reflection.
"Ugh…" he frowned when he saw it.
He was showing more belly than he thought. The hem of the tank only reaches about an inch and a half below his protruding navel, leaving the entire, pale underside of his pregnancy sticking out. Since he planned on heading down to the pool deck to unwind following his trip, Nate reasoned what he was showing was acceptable considering there'd be people wearing less. Satisfied enough, he completed his outfit with his darkest pair of sunglasses and a pair of flip flops.
Down at the pool, he claimed a lounge close to the water. He didn't plan on taking a swim, but wanted to be close in case he decided he wanted to dip his swollen feet and ankles in. Now that Nate was dressed more appropriately, being out in the relative heat felt good, though he did have to put a rolled up towel behind his back before settling back on the lounger for however long he'd be able to stay in it before nature most certainly called him again.
Finally as comfortable as he now could be, Nate smiled as he started to relax. It was nice to just sit there taking in the sun he felt like he hadn't seen for more than a few seconds in months, and not have to worry or even think much about anything. He grabbed a magazine out of his bag, set it atop his swollen middle, and started leafing through it. Fifteen minutes later, he was about halfway through when a waiter came over and set a glass of juice and a plate of fresh fruit he hadn't ordered down on the small table next to him.
"Oh, um, I didn't order anything," he politely declined.
"It's compliments of the gentleman sitting across the pool," the waiter replied with a smile before departing empty handed.
"Hmm…" Nate muttered to himself as he turned and looked from the table and out across the pool.
Till relatively recently, he'd been accustomed to having drinks bought for him. Needless to say, that hadn't happened in a while… Nate lowered his glasses a little to get a better look at his "admirer."
The guy was handsome, looked to be of Latin descent, had a nice face and from what the pregnant man could see of it, a killer body. Nate smiled and nodded and gave the good-looking stranger a small, grateful wave before returning his attention to his magazine. Had the guy not been so hot and he not been a regular at the hotel, Nate wouldn't have accepted the order, but for those two reasons, he felt safe. This would go on to prove to be a very bad call…
Safe as he felt, Nate still knew there were weirdos out there. Hot as he was, the guy was probably one of them to some degree given the fact he was flirting with him, looking the way he presently did. Now from experience, Nate knew there were guys out there that were specifically into pregnant ones, but he wasn't interested in fulfilling anyone's fetish.
But again, since he was a regular at the hotel and a lot of the staff knew him, he knew he didn't have to worry about the juice or fruit being safe. Besides, it would take a real creep to do something shady to someone as heavily pregnant as Nate was!
The late-afternoon snack turned out to be just what he and Henry needed. After Nate had eaten all the fruit and finished the juice, Henry started to squirm around, so he set his magazine aside and pulled his shirt up a little higher than it had already ridden. Through his dark lenses, the soon-to-be daddy watched the alien-like movements just beneath his pale, taut skin.
Having been so busy getting ready for his babymoon, Nate hadn't had the time to explore his still growing belly lately. As he did now, he could and couldn't believe how big it'd gotten. How big Henry had gotten. Speaking of his son, the now big boy gave an equally sized roll, causing Nate to groan as his belly gently wobbled from side to side. He got so wrapped up watching and feeling the movement within him, he didn't notice the stranger sitting across the pool had left his perch till he suddenly spoke from right next to him.
"Looks like you both enjoyed the snack," he smirked down at Nate.
"Oh!" The startled pregnant man yelped as he took his hands from his middle and quickly yanked his tank top back down as far as it would go. "Ha!" He chuckled, nervous and embarrassed. "Yeah, we did," he nodded as he gave his now (mostly) covered, still active swell a gentle pat.
"I'm glad," the guy replied as he sat down sideways on the lounger to Nate's right. "I'm also Paolo," he smiled.
"Nice to meet you, Paolo. I'm Nate."
"And this is..?" Paolo asked, nodding towards his belly.
"This is Henry."
"Nice to meet you too, Henry," the hunky Latino winked as he reached out and gave the closest side of Nate's pregnancy an uninvited pat. "No one's gonna get mad at me for doing that, are they?" He asked as he sat back and looked around the deck. "Or sending over the snack?"
"You're good," Nate replied with a chuckle.
"So you're here by yourself?" Paolo asked. "Relatively speaking, anyway…"
Nate nodded. "Decided to treat myself to a babymoon. One last hurrah before I become a dad and have someone to look after and be responsible for for forever!" He chuckled again.
"Good for you," Paolo nodded. "You deserve it. So when are you due?"
"Just under three weeks.
"Oh, wow!" He replied, eyes widening in surprise to match his tone. "Sorry, I was expecting you to say three days!"
"I know, right?" Nate grunted. "Henry and I are already a lot bigger than I thought we'd get," he rolled his eyes. "According to my doctor, Henry already weighs 12 lbs!"
"Woof! Good job!" Paolo commended.
"Thanks," the heavily pregnant man smirked.
"First baby?"
"Uh huh."
"That's gotta be hard all by yourself…"
"I've got some good friends who help out when I need it."
"They didn't want to come with you?" Paolo asked.
"Oh, they did!" Nate laughed. "But they let me have some time to myself."
"That's nice of them," Paolo smiled. "All of that. So where are you visiting from?"
"New York. Needed to get away from the cold and see the sun again!"
"I hear ya!" He chuckled. "Nice time to come down," he said as he looked around the pool deck again. "Not too hot, not too crowded. Perfect for…"
"Relaxing," Nate jumped back in. "Which for me, in my present condition, ultimately means taking a nap. I'm wiped after my trip…" he shook his head. "Kinda feels like I flew myself down here!" He rolled his eyes as he raised and then playfully flapped his arms out to his sides. "So I think I'm gonna head up. Thank you again for the snack, it definitely hit the spot," he smiled as he lowered his right hand and gave his belly another pat, mindful to be gentle so as not to rile Henry back up.
"You're very welcome," Paolo said as he stood. While he smiled, he looked a bit disappointed. "Maybe I'll see you around again?"
"Yeah, maybe?" Nate smiled back. "Enjoy the rest of your day."
"You too," Paolo replied with a small wave before heading back to his side of the pool.
Once he made it back to his room, Nate stripped then slowly lowered himself down onto the side of the bed. As he looked down and out at himself, he tried to not freak out over how big and bloated his chest had gotten. This proved easier when he looked just a little lower and saw again how big and bloated his belly had gotten… As Paolo had said, "Woof!" indeed. Nate groaned when he realized the front of his belly almost reached his spread knees and how his thighs were already starting to tingle from all the weight and pressure on them. It was definitely time for that nap…
Nate lowered himself onto his right side. He hadn't been able to sleep on his back for more than three months, the weight of Henry increasingly uncomfortable against his internal organs, namely, his bladder. As he let out a yawn and draped his left arm over his belly just in front of his chest, Nate was again reminded of how huge he now was before drifting off to sleep.
When he woke, he felt refreshed. He yawned, stretched, blinked a couple times and then checked the time. It was a quarter to seven, which meant Nate had slept for almost five hours. He'd been napping/sleeping more and more over the last month, but usually no more than three or four hours at a time before he had to use the bathroom or just stand and stretch and massage his ever-aching back. He reasoned he and Henry were both just exhausted from making the trip.
After easing himself up to sitting, Nate struggled for a few seconds to get his bloated form back onto his swollen feet. Once he was standing, his hands shot to the small of his back. As his pregnancy had progressed and Henry's size and weight increased, Nate's lower back had been put under more and more strain. The strain was still increasing so as he waddled to the bathroom to empty his bladder, Nate was very glad his days with Henry inside him, using his bladder as a mattress, were coming to an end.
Big as Henry had gotten and as much room as he now required, as huge as Nate's belly had grown in an effort to accommodate him, needless to say, space was now at a premium. Nate was almost always hungry now as his stomach simply didn't have the room to hold as much as it needed to keep him and his son fed (and growing.) As such, the babymooner couldn't wait to head down to the hotel's restaurant.
It was one of his favorites and he felt particularly hungry at the moment, but before he could think about what he was going to have for dinner, Nate had to think about what he was going to wear to it. Wanting to be a little more conservative than he'd been at the pool, after using the bathroom, Nate pulled his linen pants back on but this time, opted to wear the matching button down up top. The shirt stretched tight across his belly and chest and his bra was clearly visible through the light colored fabric, but fortunately, it was long enough that none of his giant belly was exposed.
As always, the food at the restaurant was great. Nate enjoyed the catch of the day, tuna, perfectly seasoned and seared and a nice salad. Eating alone at a restaurant had never been his favorite thing, but he found it nice now. Even though he technically already wasn't, Nate realized his days of eating or doing just about anything solo were just about over, the thought of which made him smile.
As he waddled out of the restaurant pleasantly stuffed, he saw Paolo in the lobby. They chatted for a little before the sexy Latino invited Nate to join him at the bar. Had it not been for his nap, Nate would've declined but seeing as it was only 9:30, he decided to take Paolo up on the offer.
Paolo helped Nate lower himself onto a small, plush couch facing the pool then offered to get him a drink. A couple minutes later, he returned with their drinks (a margarita on the rocks for him, a club soda with a splash of cranberry for Nate) and they continued to talk. Naturally, Nate's pregnancy came up again.
"Do big babies run in your family?" Paolo asked as he eyed his swell.
"Not especially," Nate shook his head. "I was only 8 lbs when I was born and my brother was just over 7 lbs. I think Henry gets his size from his donor," he said as he looked down at the belly filling his lap.
"What do you know about him?"
"Not much, mostly just physical traits and educational background."
"I see…"
"Yeah," Nate replied, wincing slightly.
He felt funny. All of a sudden, his head started to hurt and something felt off in his stomach. Had the fish been bad? Nate was about to excuse himself but as he started to push himself up, a wave of dizziness hit and he had to brace himself on the arm of the couch. Paolo didn't seem to notice. He just kept rambling away, asking more questions about Nate and his pregnancy, which the pregnant man had increasing difficulty responding to.
Was he slurring his words? Everything was getting foggy. What was wrong with him?
Eventually, Paolo seemed to notice something was wrong. Nate vaguely remembered agreeing to let him help him back to his room. He barely remembered their trip to the elevator so he didn't notice when Paolo pushed the button to take them down to the garage instead of up to his room. Things continued to get more hazy. Nate didn't remember being helped into the backseat of a blacked out SUV. By the time Paolo was behind the wheel exiting the garage, the drugged pregnant man had already passed out.
