Week 37
"No Trent today?" Dr. Morrow asked as he grabbed the bottle of gel used for sonogram off the counter.
Justin shook his head as he pulled his shirt up to under his chest, leaving it the only part of his bulbous body that was covered as he'd already taken off his pants and underwear in preparation for the dreaded internal portion of his exam. "He was supposed to be back from the conference by now, but since he won the award and got the grant, he had to do a press tour."
"He won…" the doctor muttered under his breath as he aimed the tip of the bottle at Justin's now thirty-seven week along swell and gave it a big, hard squeeze.
"Oooh!" The pregnant man shuddered as his taut skin was hit by a cold dollop right above his belly button.
"Sorry 'bout that," Morrow apologized with a chuckle.
"Are you though?" Justin playfully retorted. "If you really were, you'd warm that stuff up!" He said, shuddering again as he felt his nipples stiffen.
"If it makes you feel any better, you're far from alone in your complaint."
"No, it doesn't!" He laughed. "What would is if you invested in a bottle warmer or something?!"
"That's actually a good idea…"
"I know! Maybe you can get one before I see you next week? That is if I still need to…" the twin-filled man raised his brows, hoping the answer would be no as he would've had the babies by then.
Dr. Morrow chuckled. He knew Justin was eagerly anticipating his twins' arrival. "I'll let you know what I think at the end of the exam," he promised as he set the bottle he'd almost half emptied down on the counter. "Any issues since your last visit?"
"Nothing new, just bigger and heavier."
"Still enjoying being on leave?" He asked as he grabbed the sonogram wand and turned on the monitor, Justin's eyes going to it immediately even though it wasn't showing anything yet.
"Eh, honestly..? It's kinda boring," Justin replied before adding to himself, 'Especially with Trent still out of town and Betsy playing hard to get!'
"Enjoy it while you can," Dr. Morrow knowingly suggested. "'Cause soon, with two, you won't have the time or energy to be bored!"
"How soon..?"
"We'll see…" he chuckled again as he placed the wand down on Justin's big, now really shiny belly. "So… Anyone new in your life?"
While he heard the question, Justin didn't respond right away, intently focused on the still blank monitor. Though he'd been getting a sonogram almost every week for the last thirty-seven, he still looked forward to them as they allowed him to see what was going on inside him, rather than just experience it all physically.
"Justin..?"
"Oh! Sorry…"
"You're excited," Morrow smiled.
"You know it!"
"I'm glad," he nodded. "I'm always happy when my patients are. So again, anyone new in your life?" He questioned.
Happy and excited as he was, the twin-carrying man suddenly gave a small frown. Now that he'd heard the question a second time, he found it odd. The question itself, not so much, rather its timing… Why would Morrow ask this now but never before? Now when there actually was someone kind of "new…" Surely, it was just a coincidence…
"Yes and no," he replied with a small shrug, eyes still glued to the monitor as the doctor slowly began moving the wand around, applying slightly more pressure to it as he did. "I ran into a… an old friend I guess you could say?"
"Oh..?"
He nodded. "We caught up a bit over dinner and exchanged numbers."
"You didn't have theirs already?"
Justin chuckled as he rolled his eyes. "No, I didn't 'cause she's not exactly an old friend… That was only the second time I've seen her."
"I see. Have you seen her again?"
"I wanted to play it cool, so I waited a couple days to text her, and then she played cool right back!" He rolled his eyes again. "It's been two weeks to the day since I last saw her, and we're finally meeting up again, but…"
"A little early for a but, isn't it?" Morrow asked as he moved the wand some more, a grainy image finally showing on the monitor, but still nothing noteworthy or recognizable.
"Given different circumstances, yes, but given mine, I just don't see how it could work out?" Justin shrugged again. "I'm about to be a dad and she's about to be a mom."
"Are you saying she's pregnant too?!" The doctor asked in obvious surprise.
"That I am."
"That's quite the coincidence!"
"It is," Justin grunted. "But that's not all… She's also pregnant with twins, and also, also thirty-seven weeks along! What the hell are the odds of that?!"
"Slim to… well, none," the OB-GYN replied quietly.
"But other than that…" his present, doubly pregnant patient continued. "Nothing new," he shook his head as he thought to himself, 'Especially with Trent still gone and Betsy playing hard to get!' "Just waiting for these two to arrive," he motioned to his noticeably larger, rounder, tighter and shinier babies-filled belly.
"If it didn't sound like your old friend was going to be needing one of her own, I'd ask if she'd be joining you in the delivery room!" Morrow laughed. "On that note, have you given any more thought to who you're going to have in there with you?" He asked.
"The only person I'm considering is Trent," Justin replied, still somehow waiting to see his babies. Big as his belly was, it was because of them, so how was he not seeing anything yet? "After all he's done, he…"
"Promise to keep this between us?" The doctor cut in.
"Sure."
"Trent called and asked me to work on you."
"Work on me?"
Morrow nodded. "To try and convince you to allow him to be in the delivery room. I told him I would, only when he wouldn't take no for an answer!" He huffed. "But it sounds like I don't have to."
"I haven't decided yet, but without him, these two wouldn't even exist," Justin nodded down at his belly.
"No, I suppose they wouldn't," the doctor replied, not knowing just how true that was since he'd been told Justin had used a donor and thought he and Trent were only connected by their work and the drug trial. "Ooh, look! Here we go!" He suddenly said as finally, the image on the monitor cleared. "Your two big bundles of joy!"
The pregnant man immediately forgot about everything else. "Wow…" he whispered in amazement, eyes filling with tears he now all too frequently shed thanks to his wacky hormones. "Sorry…" he quickly apologized as he wiped his eyes. "But that just never gets old."
As he continued to slowly traverse Justin's bulging middle with his trusty, revealing wand, Dr. Morrow explained all they were seeing in detail. For various reasons, including the fact he had weekly exams, Justin had come to know a lot about pregnancy by then (most especially, his own, of course,) so most of what was shared he already knew, but he still soaked everything in. As they had been since week thirty-four, the twins were both head down but now facing each other, and were closing in on an impressive 7 lbs each.
"So..?" Justin asked expectantly as he and Morrow worked together to wipe his belly free of all the required gel following the conclusion of his most recent sonogram.
"So…" the doctor chuckled. "You know I can't answer that till after I've completed your exam, the next part being your least favorite, I hate to say, but before you ask… Yes, I have to do it."
Justin released a cross between a sigh and a groan. "Well, at least your hands are warm…"
"That, and lubricated," Morrow winked.
As much as Justin had come to look forward to his just about weekly sonograms, he'd come to loathe the internal examinations that always followed. Being anally penetrated in a sexual manner was one thing, being anally penetrated in a much more "official" and medical manner was another entirely… Handsome, but more so, cute, as he considered the OB-GYN Trent had set him up with, there was nothing remotely cute or sexy about it when it came time for Justin's legs to be hoisted up into the stirrups, exposing his hole. Dr. Morrow's hands were in fact, always quite warm, but they were also quite large, neither fact making the embarrassing, awkward and somewhat uncomfortable but necessary, clinical procedure any better.
Knowing well by then that the internal exam was most of, if not all of his patients least favorite part of their visits, after donning a pair of latex gloves and lubing up three of the tips of his fingers, Morrow set to quick but diligent work. As he did, Justin looked where else but down at his belly, which was bigger than it had been even the day before, but of course it was.
Not that he had much to compare himself to (aside primarily from Betsy,) but he looked every bit of thirty-seven weeks with twins, if not actually a bit more… While seeing (and feeling) themselves so big and full of life might understandably upset some people, it made Justin smile, all the more glad he'd agreed to take part in the drug trial and that things had worked out so well.
Even from a young age, Justin knew he someday wanted to be a dad. When he came to terms with the fact he was bisexual, he worried how that might impact things till he realized that in a way, it also kind of doubled his odds, so long as he found someone comfortable with and accepting of his sexual identity…But then those odds were halved again when he found out that while he was fertile, he couldn't carry…
Though disappointing, he accepted this news rather easily. Justin assumed if and when he ever found the right person, they'd be the one to carry and bear their children, which he was fine with for a while… But then more and more time passed without him having met anyone who stuck, and he started to get a little nervous. As much as he wanted to be a dad, he didn't want to be an old one…
But then the yet to be named "miracle" drug his company had been working on was ready for human trial, and Trent came along in search of a test subject. When he approached Justin with the idea, it took surprisingly little effort on the CEO's part to get him to agree, especially after he offered to be the "donor." Trent had impeccable genes Justin was pleased to have his potential child(ren) to share, so after sealing the deal with another fun roll in the hay, Justin signed on all the dotted lines and became the drug's first human recipient, or so he thought…
After performing his quick but thorough internal exam, Dr. Morrow stood from his stool and came around to the left side of the bed, where he set to giving Justin's belly an equally thorough but less quick feel. The pregnant man always enjoyed this part of his visits… A lot of people don't like their bellies being manhandled, poked, or rubbed, but he didn't mind. The bigger, rounder and heavier it got, the more Justin liked it when people touched his bump, cute Dr. Morrow and his sexy, babies' daddy, Trent, most especially…
"Well…" the doctor said after he'd finished measuring Justin's fundal height and moved back to the end of the bed to take his legs down from the stirrups. "Everything looks good. Great, actually… You might not've been meant to get pregnant, but I really have to say, in the end, you seem to be perfectly suited for it."
"That's an odd compliment, if it even was one, but I'll take it," Justin chuckled before asking, "So what's the verdict?"
"So you're measuring in at a rather impressive forty-seven weeks with one baby now, and it goes without saying that you're continuing to carry remarkably high and round," Morrow said. "But you've yet to dilate any, and remain zero percent effaced, both of which can change overnight, so don't worry, but…"
"Not a but!" His patient groaned.
"Just a slight… Given everything, you've still got a little more to go."
"How much is a little?" Justin frowned. "Daddy's getting anxious…"
"I know he is…" Dr. Morrow chuckled as he came back around to the side of the bed and offered both of his hands to get Justin back onto his swollen feet. "I'd like to give it another week."
"Perfectly suited" as he apparently was, this wasn't what the very pregnant Justin wanted to hear, even if he'd been expecting as much. He gave a tired "oof!" as he slowly sat up a little more and swung his legs off the side of the table. Taking full advantage of Dr. Morrow's support, he carefully placed his feet and stood, the OB-GYN having to take a couple steps back to give his belly the needed room. Without asking, the handsome doctor grabbed Justin's bottoms from the nearby chair he'd set them on and helped him back into them, letting him take over once the stretchy waistbands had been worked back up around his thighs.
"Thanks," Justin said as he pulled them the rest of the way up, leaving a generous sliver of his increasingly sensitive underbelly exposed. "So one more week, huh?"
"One more week," Morrow confirmed with a nod as he grabbed his iPad off the counter and started typing away. He always took notes at the end of each exam. Copious ones by the look of it.
"That'll bring me to thirty-eight… Most people having twins have them by now, if not already, don't they?" Justin asked as he tugged in vain at the bottom of his shirt as he rubbed big, slow circles against the side of his belly with his other hand.
"Most deliver at thirty-six weeks, if they make it that long," the doctor replied as he continued to type. "If and when they do, I'd typically induce them at that point, but given the drug trial you're participating in, you're a special case, but you knew that when you signed up…"
"Yeah, I did," Justin nodded. "I just didn't think it was going to work this well!" He admitted with a chuckle. "Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it did, but… Anyway, what's gonna happen next week?"
"If you haven't gone into labor by then, after performing another full exam, I'll consider inducing. In the meantime, keep doing what I've already had you doing: walking, bouncing on your exercise ball, eating spicy foods," Morrow listed off. "Keeping up with all that should encourage you to start dropping and dilating, which is pretty much what we're waiting for. Once those things happen, labor and delivery are typically right around the corner."
"I know I'm not dilated or effaced yet, and that I'm still carrying really high, but you're saying it's still possible I could go into labor sometime over the next week?" The pregnant man hopefully asked with raised brows.
"It's possible," Dr. Morrow nodded. "I know you're excited, increasingly uncomfortable and anxious, but remember, the more time the babies spend in you, the better."
"Even if they're already the size they are?"
"Even if," he nodded again.
"Alright…" Justin sighed, only half forcing himself to smile, the other half coming naturally. "One more week… If that! I can do it…" he nodded as he gave a lighthearted fist pump.
"That's the spirit!" Morrow grinned and then waved over his shoulder, still taking notes as he saw himself out of the exam room.
After getting his shoes back on, which took some doing, Justin followed. Out in the hall, he met one of the nurses he'd gotten to know over the course of his pregnancy, but hadn't seen in a few weeks. She looked surprised Justin was there at the office yet again and still pregnant, and even more so when he told her Dr. Morrow had given him another week.
He smiled as she gave his belly a series of consoling pats. "It's OK… If they haven't decided to come out on their own by this time next week, Dr. Morrow will begin the eviction process," he winked.
"Right…" the nurse said slowly before quickly finishing off their meet up in the hall by saying, "It was good to see you, Justin!" and waving over her shoulder as she suddenly scurried away.
Not bothering to turn around to see where she was going (because why would he?) the already extremely pregnant man didn't see her head straight for Dr. Morrow's office, his bulbous, swollen body already ponderous making its slow way towards the main door. Several moments later, as he waddled out into the parking lot, Justin retrieved his phone from his pocket and sent Betsy a text.
*Headed over, so long as you haven't blown yet… Text back to confirm, otherwise I'll meet you at the hospital ;-p
***
Betsy startled as her phone pinged and vibrated behind her on the bed. She hadn't meant to, but while folding laundry on it, her bed proved to be too tempting and she'd eased herself down onto it. She only planned on closing her eyes for just a second, but ended up taking an hour and a half long nap.
She groaned as she took her upper hand from the side of her white tank top covered, twin-filled belly and reached behind her. No luck. With a pout and another groan, she attempted to roll onto her back but quickly ended up red faced and flustered, her belly keeping her where and how she lay.
"OK, guys… This is really getting ridiculous!" She told her sons as she put her hands on the underside of her belly. "One… two… three!" She huffed as she hoisted her belly off the bed, using the momentum doing so created to work herself onto her back.
For a few seconds, Betsy's big belly towered over her as she lay there panting. It was getting harder and harder to believe that she was (or had been) a physically fit, collegiate basketball coach, who could run miles up and down the court now that simply rolling over in bed had come to be such a challenge, but it would all be worth it in the end.
After resting for a second, she finished her roll, slowly and gently setting the other side of her belly on the bed. As her bloated body came to rest, Betsy grimaced at how sore that had made her overburdened back and reminded herself yet again that it would all be worth it in the end, which hopefully, would be soon.
When she finally got hold of her phone, Betsy chuckled as she read Justin's text. She looked from her screen down to her belly, which had unsurprisingly, only gotten bigger since she'd last seen the other preggo two weeks ago.
*Haven't blown yet
She typed back before snapping a quick picture of her belly and breasts all practically bursting out of her tank top and sending it.
*As you can see, still a literal house…
*Same here. Well, sort of… I don't have big… you know, LOL! Anyway, see you soon!
"Damn it…" Betsy grumbled as she set her phone down.
She really was looking forward to seeing Justin again, just not all the effort doing so required. As such, she decided to keep things casual, not that she had much choice at the moment…
After slowly hoisting herself up to standing, she leaned against the wall to catch her breath before waddling out of the bedroom. As she made her ponderous way, Betsy put her hands on her lower back and pressed hard, moaning in relief when she managed to eek out a small crack.
"That's a little better," she said as she headed for the front door.
Seeing as she was only wearing a tank top and a pair of panties, she looked through the peephole and closely listened for a few seconds to make sure no one was around. Her neighbors had all seen a whole lot of her by then, but never this much, and she intended to keep it that way. Deciding the coast was clear, Betsy opened the door, tugging at the taut hem of her tank with her other hand so it would cover slightly more of her smooth, tan and round expanse. Sitting on the ground in front of the door was a small brown box, same as all the others she'd been receiving weekly over the course of her pregnancy.
"Sure won't miss doing this!" She grumbled as she slowly squatted down to pick it up.
Huffing and puffing, she pushed and pulled herself back to standing before making a big, slow turn and shuffling back inside. After closing the door behind her, using her belly as a shelf, Betsy opened the box and first took out the folded piece of paper on top.
Here's this week's dosage. Miss and can't wait to see you. Wonder if you'll still be pregnant when I finally do? :-p - T
"God, I hope not!" Betsy huffed as she folded the note back up and returned it to the box, from which she next took out a small, dark brown glass bottle and a sterile syringe.
She was testing the same drug that Justin was, though not officially. She'd gotten it (along with some sperm) from her old college boyfriend, turned successful, med tech entrepreneur, Trent, after approaching him for help not long after finding out she wouldn't ever be able to get pregnant. When she had, Betsy didn't know what if anything Trent could do for her, but given his job and connections in the fields of science and medicine, she figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.
Aside from the weekly injections she had to give herself in the belly and the increasing discomfort associated with her increasingly gravid condition, turning to Trent hadn't hurt at all. Doing so had turned out better than Betsy could've ever imagined… Not only had the two of them reconnected, they'd done so physically a few times, all of which were fun and enjoyable. More importantly though, soon, Betsy was going to have the children she'd always wanted and previously thought she wouldn't be able to. Wins all around.
In the bathroom, she set to performing the motions she'd gotten used to over the last thirty-seven weeks. After removing the needle's protective cover and filling the syringe from the bottle, she rested her belly on the counter, found a spot on it away from the boys' heads, wiped it down with an alcohol swab and then slowly and carefully injected herself with her ex boyfriend/sort of babies' daddy's miracle drug.
"There we go, boys," she said once she'd finished. "Stay nice and healthy for Mommy, but maybe start thinking about coming out so she can meet you, huh?" She requested with a chuckle.
After waddling back to her bedroom, Betsy turned on the Bluetooth speaker sitting on her dresser and put her phone's music on shuffle. The first song to play was "Bodak Yellow" by Cardi B, which instantly got her slowly (and awkwardly) dancing around the bed as she looked through all the clothes she'd yet to finish folding for something to wear.
Draping her left arm atop her belly and drumming her fingers against it to the catchy beat as she swayed her hips, Betsy mentally nixed top after top before finally settling on a tight (but of course,) salmon colored, Under Armor tank since it was one of her biggest and she liked and looked good in the color. But big as it was, after pulling it on for the first time that week, she found it now just barely covered her entire bump, which wasn't the only thing that'd done some more growing…
Having recently gone into overdrive in preparation of feeding two big and healthy boys, Betsy's voluptuous to begin with breasts had swelled up even more. Now, they stretched and strained the tank top's arm holes, revealing the sides of her correspondingly tight and strained sports bra. Seeing as she'd already squeezed the top on and correctly assuming Justin would appreciate the tight fit, Betsy stuck with her choice, doing a playful booty face to the song as she next went in search of some pants.
She kept as simple and comfortable as possible when it came to those too, opting for a black pair of trusty (and mercifully stretchy) maternity yoga variety. After sitting down on the side of the bed and making sure she wouldn't tip back, Betsy carefully worked her legs into the corresponding holes before standing again and pulling the pants up over as much of her big, bulbous womb as she could. Same as with her top, these pants were some of Betsy's biggest but she now found she couldn't get the waistband to stay in place above the widest point of her pregnancy anymore.
"I was really hoping I wouldn't have to get any more maternity stuff, but apparently I am," she frowned down at her belly. "I'll worry about that later. For now, let's check out the damage…" she sighed as she waddled over to the mirror.
Betsy sighed again when she saw her reflection. Yes, she saw it each and every day, and multiple times at that, but now that she was about to see Justin again, it really hit her how much more she'd grown in just the last two weeks… She turned to the left and placed her hands on the top and bottom of her belly, admiring how high and round she was somehow still carrying.
At her last appointment with Dr. Morrow, who she also saw every week, she measured in at forty-six weeks with one baby, still hadn't dilated any and was still zero percent effaced. She found this hard to believe but obviously, Dr. Morrow knew what he was talking about and most importantly, she and the boys were all healthy as ever. Comfortable? Not so much, but all big and healthy.
She'd just finished brushing her teeth and putting her hair up in a ponytail when she heard a knock at the door. After quickly applying some lip gloss, Betsy smiled at herself before waddling out of the bathroom to let Justin in.
He had his right hand pressed into his back and was holding a water bottle in his left as he tried in vain to adjust his tight shirt again. He gave up as he heard the door unlock, mentally reminding himself not to lift his arms up over his head, not that he expected doing so, but you never know… As the door slowly opened inward, Justin took in as deep a breath as he could, trying to hide the fact he'd almost passed out climbing the stairs to Betsy's third floor apartment.
"Woof! Look at us!" She laughed as she was met with the sight of Justin's belly dominating the doorway.
Their pregnancies were almost identical, both bigger and fuller than they'd been when they'd last/first seen each other, but just as round and high. The bottoms of both stuck out from their ill-fitting tops, Justin's slightly more so as he was just a little bigger than Betsy in the belly department while she obviously had him beat in the chest.
"You look how I feel," Justin chuckled after shuffling closer and trying to hug her after they'd lightly pecked on the lips, both of them having to lean in far over their combined bellies and really extend their arms in order to somewhat achieve their doorway embrace.
"More than ready to pop?" Betsy laughed, surprisingly enjoying the feeling of their bellies pressing together.
"Something like that," Justin chuckled. "I feel like I'll burst if I move too quickly, not that I really can anymore, but still…" he shook his head.
"Then I probably shouldn't do this, huh?" She giggled as she reached out and placed a hand on either side of his swell, giving it a shake.
"Oooof!" He grunted as he gently swatted her hands away before moving his down under her belly and gently lifting it. "Wow…"
"What?"
"I have one of my own and it's even bigger than this," he said as he lightly bounced Betsy's belly up and down. "But I can't believe how heavy it is!" He shook his head as he held it.
"Ohmygod…" Betsy cooed, her lower back experiencing a fraction of relief for the first time in weeks, if not months. "Can you do that 24/7?!" She asked with a laugh as she reluctantly pulled away, taking on all her weight again so they could go inside. "I'm starting to feel like I'm too pregnant!"
"Only starting?!" Justin laughed as he waddled in after her. "I've been feeling that way for a while now!"
"Is that why you're all sweaty?" She asked, playfully crinkling up her nose, pretending Justin smelled. He didn't. If he had, she would've really noticed thanks to the pregnancy having heightened her sense of smell.
"No!" Justin huffed as he ran his water bottle across his brow. "I'm all sweaty 'cause your elevator's out!" He informed as he absent mindedly rubbed his belly with his other hand.
"Still?!" Betsy groaned as she quickly popped her head into the bathroom to make sure she'd left any "drug paraphernalia" out for Justin to see and question. Trent had made her sign an NDA after all… "If it doesn't get fixed soon and I'm still pregnant, I'm gonna have to rent a crane to take me up and down!" She only half joked.
"But exercise is supposed to help get labor going," Justin pointed out. "Stairs especially… They're a damn bitch at the moment, but if they help move things along…"
"Please don't tell me that's what you wanna do?!" Betsy groaned again as she went to the fridge to get herself a water.
"Huh?"
"Do the stairs," she said once she'd righted herself and turned back around. "We didn't really make any plans as to what we were gonna do today. I'm fine with whatever, so long as it doesn't involve multiple trips up and down three flights of stairs!"
"Would you be OK with just two?" He asked. "One down, and one back up."
"And in between?"
"In between, we go for a walk," Justin smiled. "Or a waddle in our cases!" He winked.
"Seeing as I haven't left the apartment yet today, that sounds nice," Betsy smiled back. "Enjoyable? Maybe not so much, but at least the company will be," she winked.
***
"So the boys are still nice and… cozy, huh?" Justin asked, having to pause to take in another breath as he did, he and Betsy holding hands as they waddled around the nearby park.
"Still nice and cozy," she confirmed. "Increasingly cozy… According to my doctor, I'm measuring in at forty-six weeks with one baby now!" She laughed as she shook her head in disbelief. "He says I'm particularly good at being pregnant."
Justin chuckled. "Mine told me I'm 'perfectly suited' for pregnancy. Who do you see?"
Betsy briefly considered the NDA she'd signed. She couldn't recall it saying anything about not revealing her doctor, more so not revealing the fact she was participating off the books in a clinical drug trial… "I see Dr. Morrow at the clinic over on Maple."
Justin almost tripped over his swollen, unseen feet. "Dr. Morrow?!"
Betsy nodded. "He came highly recommended by my…" she suddenly snapped her mouth shut. This she could not discuss. "My friend."
Fortunately for her, Justin was too excited by what he'd just heard to have noticed or say anything about her strange hesitation. "I see Dr. Morrow too!"
"Seriously?!"
"Yes!"
"Wow…" she shook her head, giving Justin's hand a gentle squeeze as they lumbered along. "Small world, huh?"
"Don't talk about our bellies like that!" He teased. "We aren't that big!"
"We're gettin' there!" She laughed as she playfully bumped the left side of her belly against the right side of his, both of them sweating and breathing heavily in despite their leisurely pace.
"When's your next appointment?" Justin asked. "I have to go in every week since I'm…" he was the one to suddenly snap his mouth shut this time. "Since I had some issues getting pregnant in the first place," he was fortunately quick to adlib.
"Same."
"Really? Then why don't we call and see if we can have our next appointments together?" He suggested as he pulled his phone from his tight track pants. "I mean, if you'd want to…"
"That would be…" Betsy hesitated for a second. "Probably a little weird!" She laughed. "But also fun, so I'm in!" She nodded.
"Awesome!" Justin grinned as he pulled up Morrow's office number. "And then…" he started excitedly, only to promptly cut himself short once again. "No, nevermind."
"What?! No!" Betsy protested, raising her brows as she did. "You can't just no, nevermind me! Tell me!"
The twin-carrying man sighed. "But it's crazy, and it was just a thought!" He was quick to stress. "A stupid one at that!"
"The only thing stupid right now is us being this pregnant! Now come on, I wanna hear…" she playfully pouted as she gave his hand another reassuring squeeze.
As soon as Betsy turned on the cute, Justin couldn't help himself. He brought them to a gradual stop, then moved around in front of her, gently pressing their bellies together as he reached out for her other hand as well.
"I know we only just started kind of seeing each other, or whatever the hell it is we're doing?" He rolled his eyes. "But I also know first hand how challenging it can be being this big and alone," he nodded as he gently pushed his belly a little harder into hers. "So if you're interested… maybe at least till one if not both of us have our babies, we could stay with each other?" He shrugged before quickly adding, "I'm not talking about officially moving in or anything, but…"
"Ohmygod, yes!!!" Betsy excitedly cut him off before letting out a sigh of relief.
She hadn't told anyone, not any friends or family, the girls on her team, or Trent, but recently, she couldn't help but get more and more worried… Worried about what she would do if she was home alone and couldn't get off the couch for example, a formerly simple and mindless task that had come to be increasingly challenging to perform. Having Justin around, even if he was somehow even more pregnant than she was, would afford her at least some help, not to mention much appreciated company…
"Are you sure..?" He asked, raising his brows this time. "I know it's quick and kind of an unusual suggestion, and…"
"I'm sure," she nodded. "So your place or mine? Please say yours, 'cause with the elevator here…"
"We can stay at mine," Justin chuckled as he squeezed her hands. "I don't have an elevator to worry about, but I do have stairs… Just one flight, but…"
"Totally doable, even if it's multiple times a day!" Betsy beamed as she took her hands from his and placed one on her own belly, the other on his. "I think they all agree too!" She continued to smile as she looked up at him.
"This is amazing, babe!" He grinned down at her. "Ooh, sorry… Too soon for pet names?"
Betsy laughed as she shook her head. "You can call me whatever you want, so long as you don't call me late to dinner! I've got two, still growing boys to feed if you somehow failed to notice!"
"That, I did not!" Justin laughed as he leaned in over their bellies for another kiss. A real one, this time. "Should we keep going?" He asked once it'd ended.
"No, let's go back so I can pack!"
"You really are serious!" He laughed again.
"Oh!" Betsy frowned. "If you didn't mean tonight, which you probably didn't, I…"
"Tonight's fine, babe," Justin smiled, testing out the pet name again. "Though that does mean you're gonna have to make another trip back down three flights of stairs…"
"Worth it!"
"And up one more to get to my bedroom…" he raised his brows again.
"Oh!" Betsy frowned again.
"What?"
"We're going to… sleep together..?"
"Only if you want!" Justin raised his free hand. "If you don't, that's…"
"Of course I do, preggo!"
"Good!" He sighed in relief before slightly pouting. "Wait… Why do I get to call you 'babe' and you get to call me 'preggo?'"
"I'm sorry," Betsy apologized as they turned around and headed back to her apartment. "I won't anymore if you don't like it."
Repeating what she'd said, Justin replied, "You can call me whatever you want, so long as you don't call me late to dinner!" Mischievously adding on, "And you're sleeping in my bed!"
