Chapter One
"Are you sure you're only four months along, dude?" Jake asked his friend with a loud laugh as he reached over and gave the closest side of his already bulging belly a gentle but solid thump, like he was testing a watermelon for ripeness.
"Yes, I'm sure…" Brad confirmed with a roll of his eyes and a chuckle as he looked down at his swell, giving it a pat on its other side.
"Man… You're almost twice the size of this guy who lives in my neighborhood, and he's seven months along! You're gonna be B-I-G by the time you're done cookin' those two!" Jake grunted as he shook his head.
His doubly expectant friend and co-worker returned the grunt. "Don't remind me… I've known for a month now that I'm having twins, and I still can't believe it!" He rolled his eyes again.
"Bet when you found out, you wished you hadn't gone out and gotten sloshed four months ago!"
"Yeah, that's putting it mildly…"
"Whichever guy got you is damn lucky you can't get a hold of him for child support!" Jake whistled.
"Right?" Brad sighed in resigned agreement as he moved down the buffet line, looking for a sandwich that appealed to him. "We didn't exchange numbers, and I can't remember his name for the life of me!"
Another whistle. "Shit… You must've been really drunk!"
"I was," he nodded. "The only thing I remember, unless it's all the beers I had talking, was that he was in town for some conference and he was handsome as hell… For the kids' sake, I hope he really was good looking…"
"Well even if he's a dog, which I doubt, they've still got a shot at lookin' good with half their genes comin' from you, you stud!" Jake winked as he reached behind and gave Brad a friendly "bro" smack on the ass.
"Thanks…" the pregnant man chuckled.
"Alright, dude… Sorry to eat and bounce, but my girl's even bigger than you are, if you can believe that!" Jake huffed. "And she just loves to bitch at me when I get home late, so I gotta get. Make sure you keep in touch and promise me you'll try not to go and get too damn fat while you're out on leave!" He laughed again as he stepped wide around his friend so he could give that side of his belly a goodbye pat.
"I promise I'll try."
"Good!" He nodded. "'Cause I wanna see you back in tip+top, super foreman shape, two months after you pop them two out!" He pointed at Brad's belly.
"You and me both!" Brad grunted as he raised his free hand to wave his friend off. "Thanks for comin' by!"
"Thanks for gettin' pregnant so we could all get free lunch!" Jake shouted back at an embarrassing volume as he waved back over his shoulder.
With his teasing and distracting but well-meaning friend gone, Brad was able to focus on loading up his (thankfully) sturdy paper plate. Try as he might (and he really did,) he (and the babies) couldn't decide between a turkey and a chicken salad sandwich, so he grabbed one of each and some packets of mayo, then filled what space remained on his plate with a heaping helping of pasta salad before wandering over to a nearby table to sit. As he started in on his first half of his turkey sandwich (after adding some more mayo to it,) Brad found himself thinking back yet again to that fateful night some four months back…
In recognition of a job well-done, one of which he and his team had not only finished ahead of schedule, but well under budget; Brad had been given the rest of the day off, but not before also being given a generous bonus check as well as a week off with pay! To celebrate, he thought it'd be fun to treat he and his friends to a night out, so he pulled up their group message thread and sent out an invite as he made his way home. There, he took a quick shower to free himself of all the sweat, dirt, dust and construction debris he'd accumulated over the course of the day, then wandered naked into his bedroom, where he plopped down onto his bed for what he intended to be a quick cat nap.
Despite his last day on the job being easier and shorter than expected, Brad was still tired so he ended up napping a couple hours. When he woke, the first thing he did was check his phone, eager to see who had replied to his invite, only to find no one had yet… Knowing his friends were still at work, he didn't let their lack of response deter him and decided to start getting ready.
That began with another shower, this one longer and more thorough. Now that he was nice and cool, when Brad reached into the shower to turn it on again, he turned the handle higher, then stepped back and closed the curtain to let the water warm up. As it did, before the mirror fogged up, he turned to face it, still in nothing but his birthday suit, and took a few seconds to assess himself.
Without question, Brad was a man's man. Twenty-six years old, he was a more than respectable 6'2" tall, and weighed in at a solid 220 lbs, most of which was beefy, well-earned muscle. In short, the tall man was the epitome of the all-American, corn-fed, blue-collar construction worker, many people dreamt of. All that being said, Brad was something of an exception to the fantasy seeing as he very much preferred dick to vagina…
As he took in his beefy reflection, Brad ran his large, calloused hands over his smooth, very developed pecs, and gave each of the correspondingly sized, dark pink nipples adorning them a playful flick before continuing his journey south. He ran his fingers over his defined abdominals and then brought them together between them, dusting through his dark brown happy trail right below his surprisingly small, innie navel.
Below his tiny belly button, Brad spread his hands again, bringing them to rest at the tapered "V" of his waist, which was his favorite part of his body. For whatever reason, he really liked the way his lower belly (not that he even had one back then) ended at his Adonis lines, and even how it pushed out some due to the exaggerated, forward curve of his lower back. Below all that sexiness, there was still more to admire…
Brad's package was another favorite area of his body. When hard, his cock was just about eight, thick and veiny inches. When soft, it still clocked in at a rather impressive five inches in length, long enough for its tip to reach his scrotum. Even when his sack was relaxed, it still looked like it was struggling to contain his large balls, further adding to his appeal if he did say so himself…
Turning to the side and then some, Brad admired his ass next in the mirror, just as it began to fog up. It was another favorite body part and as such, also a "fan favorite," not only of the guys he'd been with, but those who wished they'd had the chance. While the natural curve of his lower back made his lower belly pooch out some, it also further accentuated the already more than impressive size and shape of his firm, golden globes, which sat atop an equally impressive pair of well-defined, hairy and muscular legs.
So far satisfied with his visual self-assessment, the handsome, young foreman squared himself in front of the fogging mirror and did a double bicep flex, smiling as the large muscles in his arms and chest all popped to attention. Brad didn't get to take in "the gun show" for too long though as steam from the shower quickly claimed what it hadn't of the mirror already, indicating it was time to really get cleaned up for his night out. While he moved quickly under the warm water, he made sure to get everything nice and clean, especially his "most important" parts, just in case, after which he got out and dried off.
With a towel wrapped around his thick but trim (back at the time) wait, Brad brushed his teeth, leaning in closer to the mirror as he did to look at his face through the steam, debating whether he should shave? He decided he liked the five o'clock shadow he was sporting so he left it, finishing up with his mouth before returning to the bedroom to get dressed.
After he had, he went back to the bathroom where he fired his hair and sprayed on some cologne. Ready to go, Brad checked his phone again and was disappointed to see that not even one of his friends had gotten back to him… For a moment, he debated staying in or at least waiting till he heard from someone, but since he'd gotten "all dolled up," he set out alone, walking the few blocks from his house to the local gay bar, where he assumed he'd at least run into someone he knew…
But as the night progressed, he didn't. None of his friends had gotten back to him and he still hadn't seen anyone he'd even struck up a casual conversation with once in the past… Needless to say, it wasn't the fun night Brad had been hoping for, so once he had a nice buzz going, he decided it was time to head home.
Just when he was about to signal the bartender and let her know he was ready to close out, a guy took a seat on the till then, empty stool to his right. A good looking guy, who looked to be in his early to mid-thirties if at least part of Brad's memory served him right…
"This seat taken?" He asked, even though he'd already taken it by then.
"No, hiccup!" Brad replied with a slightly broken giggle as he simultaneously slammed his beer-free hand over his mouth in an attempt to stifle the embarrassing sound that'd just escaped it, making his handsome, slightly older, new neighbor laugh.
"Can I get you another beer?" He asked with a smile. "Having one usually helps me when I have the hiccups."
Brad wasn't usually a big drinker, and his hiccups were an obvious indicator he'd reached his limit and therefore, should've declined, but then his other "head" took over and before he knew it, he'd had four more beers and was stumbling home with his arm wrapped around the guy's waist for some much needed support. He didn't remember much more after that, but he did remember waking up on top of his still made but now very disheveled bed the following morning, naked, with a raging hangover, and a slight ache radiating from his ass.
Whatever the guy's name was, was gone, never to be seen or heard from again. A drunken hookup was a drunken hookup though, so Brad wasn't too concerned, at least not yet… He would be soon enough though, when he found out the guy had left him with two "gifts" he couldn't "return to sender," if he wanted, which he eventually, certainly would, but for the time being, Brad remained ignorant and still half drunk.
The hunky foreman spent the rest of the day recovering from his monster handover, but by that evening, he thankfully felt much better. A few of his friends finally got back to him and since he was feeling himself again and still wanted to celebrate his success since they hadn't the night before, Brad joined them at the same bar but this time, he didn't drink as much or go home with someone he didn't know or remember.
By Wednesday, Brad had all but forgotten about his most recent one night stand. He wasn't thrilled that even after fully sobering up, he still couldn't entirely recall what'd happened, including if protection had been used, let alone the guy's name or exactly what he looked like, but not wanting to spoil his week off with regrets, Brad pushed those pesky worries to the back of his mind, which was where they'd stay for almost a month till he woke up nauseous and sick for the third day in a row…
"Late again…" Jake had clicked his tongue at him when he'd eventually showed up at their latest worksite. "It's a good thing you're the boss!"
"Har, fuckin' har…" Brad grumbled as the two of them walked over to the coffee station where he grabbed one of the pots to pour himself a cup.
The second he raised it and took a whiff of its contents, he felt sick again… He'd barely put it back where it belonged before he was loudly puking his guts out for the second time that morning, into the thankfully nearby trash can.
"Eww, dude!" Jake grimaced as he gently patted his friend's heaving right shoulder. "What the hell's up with you?!"
"I don't fuckin' know?" Brad shook his head once he'd recovered. "The smell of coffee made me super nauseous all of a sudden…"
"If you're sick, stay the hell away from me!" Jake said as he took several, exaggerated steps back. "My girl's pregnant, so neither one of us can get sick!"
"Think I'm fine now…" Brad said after he'd taken in a few deep breaths. "Yeah, better…" he decided with a nod as he stood and dumped the small amount of brown liquid that'd ended up in his paper cup out onto the dirt, just in case…
He made it through the rest of the day without incident, so he thought he was in the clear. But then the same thing happened again the next morning, this time twice at home, and something finally clicked… Brad groaned as he heaved himself up from the floor in front of his toilet.
"This better not be what I think it is…" he grumbled to himself, deciding to call in sick so he could recover and then go to the store, where he'd buy what he needed to hopefully prove himself wrong.
Once he felt like he wasn't going to hurl anymore, Brad headed to the closest CVS. Inside, he went directly to the Family Planning aisle, where he grabbed a pack of male pregnancy tests from the shelf and then headed back to the front of the store. As he waited in line with the pack of tests tucked under his arm, he acted like the cooler containing drinks was the most interesting thing he'd ever seen so he wouldn't have to make eye contact with anyone. After expressing such interest, he felt like he had to buy something from it, so he grabbed a bottle of water and paid for it and the tests when his turn came, all without making eye contact or speaking with the cashier.
Pregnancy tests in a bag in one hand and the cold bottle of water in the other, Brad rushed back out to his truck and hurried home. On the way, he downed the entire liter of water despite how frigid it was, wanting to be ready to pee as soon as the time came. Once he got home, he headed straight for the bathroom. Standing over the toilet, he peed on two of the three sticks he'd torn from their packaging. After he'd sufficiently soaked them, he set them down on the counter and set a timer on his phone for three minutes.
As he waited, the anxious, potentially pregnant foreman paced the small powder room. Those were the three longest minutes of his life, which felt like it was on hold till they finally passed. When his phone beeped, Brad lifted it off the counter with a shaky hand and silenced the alarm before setting it down and grabbing the first test. Even though he somehow already knew what he was going to see, he looked down at the small digital display on the first stick anyway, and then the one on the second. There they were: two big, blue plus signs.
"Fuckin' shit!!!" He shouted as he slammed his palms down on the counter so hard, his phone and the tests all fell to the floor.
Once his initial shock had somewhat worn off, a dull sense of calm came over him allowing Brad to think back through his most recent sexual encounters… That didn't take very long as over the last few months, there'd only been one: the one with the guy he could barely recall anything about, who he had no way of getting in contact with, leaving him to figure out what he was going to do next on his own.
I'm only twenty-six! I'm single and I have a great job? Do I even want a kid?!
Several thoughts raced through his mind simultaneously and even now, as he sat at a table eating a free lunch in celebration of his paternity leave, there were still many things Brad needed to address.
At his company, employees didn't usually go on maternity or paternity leave till they reached six months, which was still a lot earlier than in most professions. Because of all the manual labor and active worksites involved in the construction field, the company's lawyers set leave to begin at six months for someone expecting one baby, and four months if they were having multiples. After giving birth, the employee got an additional two months off to spend time with their new family and/or "recover," which meant this was Brad's last day on the job for some seven months…
"Hey there, son," Brad's boss, Sherman said, nodding as he sat down across from him. "Ready to go live the easy life for the next half year or so?" He asked with a chuckle.
"I guess if you call slowly turning into an inflating human balloon and then pushing two kids outta my ass the 'easy life?'" The foreman replied with a half-hearted laugh.
"Can't imagine having two at once!" Sherman admitted with a grunt and a shake of his head as he looked across the table, his eyes zooming in on the visible portion of his best foreman's already large and noticeable pregnancy. "Giving birth to one was hard enough!" He chuckled, causing the younger man to glare at him as he sipped his iced tea. "Sorry…" he apologized. "Didn't mean to scare ya… Won't be a problem for a big, strong, young guy like yourself. You'll be fine!"
"Yeah, I hope so…" Brad sighed as he looked down at his gut then back up at his boss. "Thanks for the party by the way. I know you don't usually go all out for guys in my situation, so really, I appreciate it," he said with an earnest smile and nod.
“Don’t worry about it!” Sherman waved him off, nearly blushing. “You’re a good kid who just happened to get a little careless,” he shrugged. “I know you don’t have much in terms of family support, so I wanted to make sure you knew you have some not only from me, but everyone here and that I’m already lookin’ forward to havin’ you back at work, ‘cause no one runs a project as well as you do!”
“That means a lot, Sherman. All of it,” Brad nodded again. “And same as you, I’m already looking forward to getting back to work too, ‘cause I have no idea what I’m gonna do with myself till then?!” He admitted with a laugh. “You sure I can’t come back earlier?”
“I am for now, but if you decide you’re not keeping them…” Sherman nodded towards Brad’s bulging middle. “I might be able to get you started back sooner than usual, but no promises and more importantly, no pressure,” he shook his head. “Use the next few months to figure out what’s best for you, OK?”
“Do I have to?” The doubly pregnant man asked with another dry laugh.
“Yes, Brad, you do,” his boss smiled as he stood and offered his hand out for a shake. “Good luck, son. Try to not go and get too fat while you’re out, otherwise people might mistake you for me when you come back, whenever that is!” He winked as he gave the side of his solid beer belly a couple pats.
Sherman wasn't gone long before Brad found himself with more company. Over the next hour, more and more of his co-workers came to say their goodbyes and wish him well, most of them also taking the opportunity to get in one more joke or jab about how pregnant the foreman already was, or to remind him to send pictures when he was even bigger! Eventually, everyone had seen him off, after which most saw themselves off for the weekend, though some stayed behind as beer suddenly presented itself from coolers in the beds of trucks.
Not so long ago, Brad would've been one of the guys to bring suds to such an event and would've been among the first to crack one open and really get the party going. Now, since the expectant foreman couldn't partake, he took his leave. As he drove home, he wondered what the hell he was going to do with himself for the next FIVE months? The only thing so far on his agenda was getting bigger and more pregnant, making it more than likely Brad would get seriously bored and soon, unless he figured out something to do with all the time he'd have on his hands…
There was one other thing he knew would occupy a good deal of time till he made up his mind, and it was the last thing he wanted to think about despite it being the most important. The time had come though as the doubly pregnant twenty-six year old knew he'd already put addressing the growing, proverbial elephant in the room off long enough… With work no longer an excuse, the time had really come for Brad to man up and figure out what he was going to do with the babies?
