EARLY ACCESS | YELLOW - Yoh Kamiyama
🕑 Added 2023-08-22 14:39:31 +0000 UTCSorry this is so long, but I'd like to share how this song made me feel and why it's so special to me.
As a Christian, this song reminded me of life before Jesus changed my heart.
I thought that I could somehow be a good enough person to earn God's love. I'd promise myself I'd stop doing certain things I knew were wrong, but time and time again I would fail.
While I don't believe that Yoh Kamiyama was trying to push a particularly religious message, I felt my futile struggle with my sinful nature in his lyrics and I don't want to just post a song so bleak and hopeless without talking about the other, uplifting side of that: salvation and a new heart through Jesus, who died a death that I deserve on the cross so that I could be made righteous through Him, rather than through my own works. I believe that because God first loved me, He paid my debt on the cross and has called me His son! I owe Him my life for saving me from His holy wrath in Hell that I deserve.
Romans 5:6-8 says,
"For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
This makes YELLOW such a touching song that encourages me by reminding me of the dark place God pulled me out of.
I'm so happy and grateful that He changed my heart, convicted me of my sins, and saved me through His grace. Even though my flesh is weak and I still sin, I am encouraged to get up and try again because God loves me!
He forgave and saved me on the Cross.
Again, haha, sorry for the lengthy wall of text here, but I really wanted to share this! I'm glad that I could use this time to give my thanks to the Lord for what He has done and continues to do for me, and I am glad that I can share this part of me with you who is reading this :)
Have a good day, and I hope you enjoy my cover of YELLOW!
Simply put, all purity was hung away on that day, see
My curiosity had gotten the best of me
Was sweeter than a cake, but it wasn't filling
Like dancing with a puppet, so cold and empty
Closet doors shut behind us,
Huddling our bodies hidden in the darkness
We'll sleep the night off,
And change when light comes
Or so I like to say
"I'm just a child, I can't help it!
Don't go, please, oh please, I'm begging!"
I'm so pathetic- a life built on selfish cries
All the toys were put away, I swear I'll change this time
Still I yearn for when I wore innocence like before...
Love's a a high, sober up, you'll throw it all away
I've laid to waste all those feelings just to stay safe
But see this low-life now, still stuck in his ways
I wonder if there's a summer where I'll really change
YELLOW...
Simply put, his flesh was weak and curiosity's deadly
Figured just a taste, but he ate too much, see
The nature of the beast is that it's always hungry,
Go ahead and eat, I'll be more than happy
Closet doors shut behind me,
Huddled in the dark, on my heart I'm swearing
I've had enough now,
I'll stop it somehow,
I'll change (yeah...)
You try to find your worth and
Time and time again
You find you're nothing
Hear the second hand,
And feel it burning
The sky is upside down
Am I in Hell or am I in the Devil's mouth?
I'm all turned around now
"Carved into my brain, I can't forget the shade that stained my window."
I'm so, so sick of that light that won't stop shining YELLOW
YELLOW...
Cry all you want, deep down you know...
You'll never ever get away
You swear to change, but you're lying to your own face
Fight all you want, deep down you know...
You'll never ever get away
Stuck in that hot, summer day...
Love's a a high, sober up, you'll throw it all away
I've laid to waste all those feelings just to stay safe
But see this low-life now, still stuck in his ways
I wonder if there's a summer where I'll really change
