EARLY LYRICS | In the Back Room
🕑 Added 2022-11-28 04:31:11 +0000 UTCThis song is multilayered and tackles identity.
It's inspired by syudou's (the writer of this song) childhood obsession with pop star Kenshi Yonezu, and how he felt he lost his own musical identity by trying to be Kenshi instead of himself.

Hold up, wait, there's no way I can take this
No way to escape this place, this Hell I hate
I can't find the way,
I feel like I'm going insane...
What do you know about this face?
Running through my mind, that was the day that changed my life
In that room, it hit me hard like liquor swallowed quick and dry
Spinning in my head, my head, my head, won't quit
It's then and there our eyes met
I sold my soul for that fleeting feeling, see
I gave my life and this heart that beats in me
This twisted nightmare is more than just a dream, vivid scenes you can hear them when I try to scream...
AHH
Voice may be stained, but I have something to say
I'll shut them up, the final laugh belongs to me
I never wanted your opinion anyway
The spite that lies behind these eyes is hunting you like prey
I'll be the voice for us you've buried in hate
Kicked us to the side and tried to keep us in a cage
Love me or leave me, doesn't matter either way
It's all the same, I'll take the blame and fall into the flames, say
Ohh
Sick of your shadow haunting me,
Finished chasing after your dreams
Ohh
Sick of the fear, the smoke has cleared,
I swear I'm breaking out of here
Peek inside and all that you will find is bitterness and spite, pride I swallow tight
- A wasteful life
You thought you could fool me twice,
But I can see right through your lies
So high and mighty, think you can walk on me
I'll cut you down, I'm so sick of worshipping
Can't count the nights that I've cried away to singing in pain, hear the hate that's ringing in my veins
But even though I should take a knife to pride and walk away
All my spite has come alive and I don't wanna change
I'll take a shot of hate- a bitter, sweet taste
I'll fill my cup and drink it up without a drop to waste
I'll be the voice for us they've buried deep in shame
Underestimated us and treat it like a game
Born with a rage that they could never ever tame
I've lied in wait and sharpened all my hate just for this day
Running through my mind, that was the day that changed my life, I've...
Tried to hide my shame behind this face, I must replace mine...
Every single night, I hate myself more than the last, I'm
Haunted by regrets that never rest, infesting my mind
And over and over and over and over and over and...
Yet I'm still alive, singing that line...
Ohh
Sick of the fear, the smoke has cleared,
I swear I'm breaking out of here
Hold up, wait, it's just another loop
Like in the Back Room, there's no way to escape
I can't find the way,
I feel like I'm going insane...
What do you know about this face?
