Here’s the text from all three pages for ease of reading:
“History is shaped by many factors: technological development, societal, cultural, and economic forces, and of course, the actions and the lives of a few “Great Men”. The Wizard is undoubtedly one such figure; the events of his storied life beggar belief. He was alive before the All-Mother’s activation, went on to form the Galactic Union to fight against the Imperium, and is still alive today. We know much of the Wizard’s life from what he has told us; I will relay some details here in brief.
Long before he came to be known as the Wizard, he was named Myrddin Emrys. Myrddin was born on Earth in the seaside town of Caerfyrddin in Newydd Cymru, the eastern region of the island called Dogger Bank in the nation of Doggerland. Myrddin was a child prodigy, and luckily for him, his wealthy parents recognised him as such and moved to the mainland where Myrddin could become enrolled for a suitable education at Oxford University, where he later became the second youngest person ever to graduate at age 12. Myrddin was a lonely boy in his youth and struggled to fit in. He spent almost all of his time either studying or tinkering with machines. The young Myrddin became famous when a video went viral showing him walking the halls of Oxford talking with his pet owl, Archimedes, who he had implanted with a brain machine interface of his own design and was demonstrating human-level intelligence. This caught the attention of the government of Doggerland because this young man had successfully engineered his own B.M.I. technology. Brain machine interfaces were previously banned in Doggerland because of the nation’s poor relations with the United Earth government who had a monopoly on the production of B.M.Is via their public-private partnership with the Cerebralink megacorp. Naturally, the Doggerland government prohibited B.M.Is, deeming them a threat to national security. The Doggerland government offered Myrddin a well-paid job working on their own B.M.I program. They did not want to roll out B.M.Is to the general public, but instead wanted to develop their own brain machine interfaces for military use so that they could stay competitive with other powers; Myrddin accepted.
Myrddin wouldn’t stop at B.M.Is though. He went on to develop compatible technologies for them, like the Thunor mech suit that Deicide found on the Lunar surface at the beginning of his rebellion against the All-Mother. The king Uthur was now aged, and his son, the prince Arthur, was getting ready to assume the throne. The prince had little care for the tranquil agrarian society that purveyed all of Doggerland, and the long peace that his homeland had enjoyed bored him. Prince Arthur was a vital young man with a passion for sports and a fascination with war. He became idealistically obsessed with the concept of irredentism and took an interest in the means by which Doggerland could reclaim territory that he saw as once belonging to its people. Perhaps this was born out of Arthur’s yearning for greatness, to live up to the namesake of his ancestor, Arthur the II. His drive for eminence led to Arthur meeting with Myrddin, wherein the young Arthur was impressed with the achievements of the now middle-aged Myrddin and his many inventions. Arthur found Myrddin to be a peculiar man, but he enjoyed his strangeness and his blunt honesty, that he was deprived of from his servants, pages, chaplains, ushers, and other staff that surrounded him. When king Arthur the III at last claimed the throne, he requested Myrddin become his chief advisor.
Myrddin protested this radical streak in king Arthur the III, explaining the history of the “century of humiliation” and of their people’s gruelling struggle for independence. Myrddin explained that this aspiration to recapture former glory would risk losing the Ingwines’ hard-won sovereignty for good. Ultimately, this line of argumentation did work to curb Arthur’s irredentist pursuits, but this drive never left Arthur’s mind, and he nevertheless developed Doggerland’s military capabilities with Myrddin’s help.
Arthur gave his good friend Myrddin free rein to work on any side projects that he wished, so long as he continued to advance Doggerland’s military technology. Myrddin began experimenting on himself. He discovered new ways to increase his longevity and enhanced his body with cybernetics.
Myrddin, with the aid of his research teams, had seemingly discovered a way of slowing the process of aging to a near halt. Unfortunately, by the time this new anti-aging technology had passed through all the clinical trials and medical testing necessary to be deemed safe for the general public, the elderly King Arthur had passed away.
Overwhelmed by grief at the loss of his one and only friend, Myrddin’s sorrow drove him to leave Doggerland for the wilds of the moon, he made doggerlands lunar colony of Celyddon his new home.
There, he continued his work and, in private, staged a series of cyber terror attacks on the United Earth as a way of honouring the late king’s memory and unfulfilled dreams without endangering Doggerland. He staged these cyber attacks anonymously and did so under the alias The Wizard. The Wizard had become quite the chaos agent, inciting rebellion movements on the moon and on Mars with memetic warfare. He even helped to spawn the modder subculture within the youth of the UE to further destabilise UE society.
Mods are people who choose to genetically alter themselves as a form of self-expression, like getting a tattoo or a piercing, only much more extreme. Mods would turn their skin bright colours or alter it to glow in the dark. Mods were also known to add limbs, tails, and even wings to their bodies.
During his exploits on the moon, the Wizard caught wind of a secret project that the United Earth was working on. He uncovered all he could by himself, but that wasn’t enough as the United Earth had this black project of theirs locked down tight. The Wizard did find some leads, however, and he promptly hired some private investigators. One of them was sadly killed, but the second was more successful; his name was Sam Kartwell, known more commonly now as Losté. Losté managed to read some classified information that the previous PI had collected shortly before he was killed; he relayed this information to the Wizard and was sent thereafter to Chiron on a mission to get dirt on the UE mistreatment of the Chantauri species. The Wizard had his fingers in many pies and was building up an extensive record of UE wrongdoings which he was ready to drop when the time was right. The memory of Myrddins’ good friend Arthur lived on in his heart, and although the Wizard had talked the late king out of fulfilling his dreams when he was alive because to do so would have been catastrophic and ill-timed, he prepared and organised all of the pieces so that when he pressed the button, all would move synergistically to tear down the UE.
A great deal occurred between the UE Belfast’s departure and the Final World War. Some of the Wizard’s plans hatched early, such as the second Martian and Lunarian rebellion, which spiralled out of control when the Jovian colonies threw their weight in behind Luna and Mars. This “Solar War,” as it would go on to be named, lasted 45 years; it must be said that this was mainly due to the time it took to travel via conventional rocketry between the Earthsphere and Jupiter. Warp technology like that seen on the cutting-edge UE Belfast was prohibitively expensive for regular ships, let alone warheads, meaning both sides often had to wait 5 to 6 years from when a rocket was launched to when they found out if it reached its target.
The forty years between the events of the Solar War, which ended with the Mars colonies being destroyed and both the Lunarians and the Jovians being brought to heel, and the Final World War, felt as a mere decade to the now ancient Myrddin. The Wizard had replaced each part of Myrddin’s failing body with cybernetic replacements until Myrddin was no more, and only the Wizard remained. He had become the ship of Theseus, but that paradox puzzled him even now: was he still himself?
The Wizard was instrumental in helping to start the Final World War, and he was the strategic mastermind behind many of the victories against the United Earth, lending his expertise to those who needed it wherever he saw it necessary. He worked with many governments, using his unique insights into Project AM to launch numerous special operations on UE secret research installations system-wide that were suspected of being the location of Project AM. Ultimately, all of them failed, and Project AM was activated. The All-Mother swiftly crushed her enemies. The Wizard, comprehending the gravity of the situation, launched himself in a state of extreme stasis on an interstellar trajectory inside a lightweight stealth skiff that he had prepared in case the worst-case scenario occurred.
For 8 years, the Wizard drifted through deep space trying to intercept what little remained of the fleeing Conglomerate invasion force. The automated systems of his vessel sent forth a distress signal, which was received, and the Wizard’s ship was taken onboard by the Conglomerate.
It was quite some time before the Wizard was brought out of stasis; none of the aliens belonging to the vanquished fleet could figure out how to revive the Wizard. It wasn’t until the fleet had returned to their home system of Dranhow, where more advanced facilities were available, that the Wizard was successfully resuscitated. The Wizard became the fascination of the denizens of Dranhow and gained instant celebrity. The Imperium was hot on the Wizard’s heels, however, and the Dranhow system was soon besieged. This was not because the All-Mother was targeting the Wizard personally, but rather because Dranhow was the system from whence the attack on Abraham and Earth was staged. The Wizard’s status as a member of an endangered species afforded him passage along with other valuable individuals to a safe system.
The Wizard, having calculated the curve of exponential Imperium expansion, made the informed decision not to stop at the next system over. He instead hitched several rides deep into Conglomerate territory, to the system of Neushow. The Shield of the Galactic Union did not exist at this point in history because the Galactic Union had not yet been formed and Deicide was yet to rebel against the All-Mother, but Neushow is the closest system to what would go on to be known as the Shield of the Galactic Union. It is in Neushow that the Wizard would begin his political career, using his unique position as the last known individual of his species to his advantage. He raised awareness of the severity of the Imperium threat, standing as a symbol of the fate that would befall them all if they did not heed his warning. This is the platform that he ran on, and it garnered him much support and respect from the public. The Wizard’s political career culminated when he assumed the role of Commander-in-Chief of the then-fledgling Galactic Union. The Wizard’s life story and proven track record lent the Galactic Union an air of legitimacy and because he did not belong to any of the member species, he was neutral enough that all parties could get behind his leadership without suspicion of biases. It took some time to get off the ground, but eventually, the Gordian Empire, the Gherra, the Kolaxan Empire, and even a rogue Tandraxian Star-Engine would rally around the banner of the Galactic Union. This rogue Tandraxian Star-Engine came in extremely useful when the Wizard caught wind of the Imperium civil war and was able to have it perform a FLUX jump to come to Deicide’s aid. It was a gamble, not just with the FLUX jump, but also with attempting to bring Deicide on side by extending the hand of friendship. It could have resulted in all of their deaths, but the Wizard’s wager paid off when the desperate Deicide accepted their help. The Galactic Union capital fleet helped Deicide to defend his Womb-World from subsequent waves of Imperium forces, and they even managed to capture the Over-Father by the name of Fliegrigel alive. The Wizard was very influential in converting Fliegrigel to their cause. With the aid of the Galactic Union capital fleet, Deicide and Fliegrigel staged a successful assault on the Over-Father Böreus’ Womb-World, killing him in the process and capturing Böreus’ Womb-World for their own. These three Womb-Worlds acted as an interstellar fortress which was constantly reinforced by the surrounding Conglomerate and wider Galactic Union forces, thus halting further Imperium expansion on that front. This gained Deicide much favour, but his presence also caused much controversy. Once word had spread far and wide that the Galactic Union had allowed former Imperium members among their ranks, mass civil unrest spread throughout the Orion arm. Riots broke out targeting both the Galactic Union and their local governments for working with the GU. In spite of this, because of Deicide’s valiant deeds in defence of all the species being crushed under the All-Mother’s heel, Deicide’s popularity skyrocketed and drowned out the backlash. Once the public outcry had died down, it was announced that Deicide would eventually go on to become the Wizard’s successor.
The Wizard decided to create a secret GU forward operational base in the city of Pelion on Chiron. Deicide lowered a large M-type asteroid down to Chiron’s surface near the edge of the historic Pelion “old town”. The seismic waves caused by the touchdown of the exposed planetary core caused ripples to permanently form on the surface. This is what gave the legendary settlement the moniker “the ringed city”. The rings on the surface were mirrored by a colossal ringed space station at the tip of a space elevator which connected to the asteroid down on the surface like an anchor. The concentric rings of the space station accommodated the many species of the Galactic Union in the native G so that they could live in comfort while stationed there.
Chiron was a strategic location because it was a backwater planet out of the direction of the Imperium’s advance. Chiron’s remote and unthreatening nature led to it being overlooked by the All-Mother whilst she focused on more pressing matters to her “west”, “south”, and “east” (from the direction of the galactic centre).
If things ever got so desperate that the GU had to make a last-ditch effort to attack the All-Mother’s central emitter, Chiron was close enough to the Imperium core to give them a fighting chance.
Through some strange twist of fate, while living on Chiron, the Wizard had become the sole guardian of an orphaned Vureii child named Ardo. The Wizard was growing weary of the pressures imposed on his aged mind by the war, and the additional duties of caring for his adopted son led to him stepping down from his position in the GU and handing Deicide the reins. The Wizard wanted to keep Ardo safe and to give him the best opportunity for the future, so he took them both to the safest place that he could think of. The Wizard and Ardo boarded a refugee warp bus headed for the closest Tandraxian Nomad star. Ardo could have lived out his life on Chiron and grown old in the time that it would take them to reach the Nomad star, but the stasis modules on the warp-bus would preserve his youth and a life under the protection of the powerful Tandraxian empire would allow Ardo to start a family and give him the assurance that they could live far away from the threat of the Imperium.
The Wizard is said to have opened up a machine and cybernetics shop onboard the Janudua space station with his adopted son Ardo. There he still lives to this day, the furthest traveled, oldest human being in all of history who was not only shaped the fate of his home world, but his entire local galactic arm.”

The Jovians are Humans that colonised the Jupiter system and inhabit its many moons along with artificial satellites of their own creation. The chief colonies of which are on the Galilean moons. Jovian is a term relating to Jupiter. Jupiter is also known as Jove, that’s where the name Jovian comes from.

He is one old boy! You could get a ball park estimate by looking at the timeline and guessing, there’s some range there and I like the mystery. He is at least as old as being born 80 years before the UE Belfasts departure for the Light system.

Doggerland is a constitutional monarchy. It has a royal family, but their power is limited by the constitution. The Royals mostly serve a ceremonial role domestically and diplomatic role internationally. Democracy takes place on the local level within parishes who have almost complete control over the conduct of local affairs. It’s all very decentralised apart from matters of national security and the management of water levels. Not yet, but I have a lot of ideas in my head that we’ll eventually get to in the prequel story, that’s going to thoroughly explore the solar system prior to the singularity. It varies a lot, but I mostly modelled UE society on 1984 by George Orwell, with there being stark separation between the proles and party members. There’s a great deal of difference in living standards between inner and outer party members also. Basically the more useful and loyal you are to the UE, the better things are for you. The majority of people in the UE live in cubicle-like communal living quarters, a step up from that are pod dwellings, then apartments, then terraced houses, so on… That is pretty much the average UE city, yeah. UE cities are very dense and the architecture resembles Bauhaus and international style architectural styles. It varies a great deal, but a majority of UE citizens choose not to work and live off basic and gruel. They escape reality living in virtual realities via their BMIs. There is some social mobility, but it involves securing a job and holding onto it against all the competition.

Quite anarchist and rebellious. It’s reminiscent of “90s cool” in a way. Trench coats, leather, sunglasses, electronic music, Mohawks, vaguely cyberpunk aesthetics so on. Gang culture is a big thing among Mods too, with each gang having their own little quirk and take on the subculture.

Great work! I wonder, what happened to democracy? Or is the king of Doggerland a ceremonial figure without much power? Is there any other lore on any of the other nations like Texas for example? What is life like for people in the U.E.? Are their cities just a bunch of blocks of housing without beautiful gardens or skyscrapers or anything like that? What is the average day like for a citizen in the U.E.? Are there any opportunities for social mobility in the U.E.?

Impressive as always lad. And damn, I knew the Wizard was old considering he was alive during the UE-Conglomerate War, but I didn't expect him to be even older than that. Now I am wondering how old he was when the All-Mother took over and how old he is when he meets Losté and Deicide again in Janadua station.

perhaps its just me but honestly i feel like the average reader wont be thinking of Body Mass Index, especially within the context of the rest of the comic where brain-machine interfaces are already talked about. besides, tons of acronyms there stand for different things in different fields and contexts as theyre used by different people or specialists
