Daniel

Ah it’s fixed now

Daniel

Is it just me or is the image low quality?

Callum Diggle

Very interesting, you paint a vivid picture of what life could be like there on the ground 🤔

bixoprimal

thats just how i envision rio de janeiro in such a scenario, it exists reasoned by the crazyness, its a mix of protestants cursing the rio, some police officers asking for cash to piracy the internet provider for your house, drugdealers apealing for your morals to pay the whores in time, a very strange place indeed

Callum Diggle

Ooo that sounds interesting man! I love stuff like that

Callum Diggle

Hahah cheers, Shawn!

Shawn Bond

Tis a wonderful thing you have done! ❤️ 💯🥳 Oh, and the Humanity Lost story is nice, too. 😁

I have a friend who had some ideas for a book to write. In his future of America, Texas would form a republic with it's nearby southern and Midwestern allies, while the West Coast would be dominated by a Mormon kingdom out of Utah.

Callum Diggle

I believe it man

Justin Huynh

As a transplanted Texan, I can assure you that native Texans would actually do it (fight for independence).

Callum Diggle

😂

Geofre Schoradt

Even in a dystopian far future, Texas is still annoying. 😉

Callum Diggle

I think it was mostly apathetic acceptance of the population to be honest, most people just sleepwalked into it worrying mostly about their personal lives and surviving pay check to pay check. When one has an exhausting full time job, many people just don’t have the time or the energy to think about these things. There are true believers of course and people who absorbed through cultural osmosis the messaging and propaganda of the Proto United Earth. Well that’s a very big question haha, but to sum it up, the UE are a massive bureaucratic technocracy that wields a command economy and a monopoly over media to control their population. It’s impossible to represent your population when your area of governance spans the entire earth, the rest of the solar system and two other stars, people just get what they’re given but they’re convinced that they’ve had their say by being allowed to vote. Of course the UE only allows people to vote for representatives and the representatives are pre selected by the UE regime. I wouldn’t call it a faux democracy because this is what democracy is in practice, especially when it comes to governing large enough populations, It is a representative democracy of sorts, much like the UK or the US. I personally would not like to live under a world government, I don’t like living under a large nanny state to be honest, I would much rather live life with as little government involvement as possible. Government overreach, excessive taxation and a misallocation of that tax money is something that really grinds my gears to be honest haha and under a super massive global state that issue would be exacerbated. I don’t know if it could be pulled off and my scepticism is expressed somewhat here in this map, I think that most people seek a sense of belonging in a community that is particularly to them, feeling of being part of a family, this can be an adopted community too of course, but I do not think a global centralised state would be able to service the particular needs of every community equally, seeing as it would be universalist in its very conception, this would realistically and inevitably lead to discontent and unrest and as you can see in this map, separatism. It’s an interesting question and one that I do not have the answer to, I only have my opinion. One would argue that transnational governmental bodies need to exist in order to mediate wars between governments, but what use has that been, we still have a seemingly constant string of wars occurring at the same time. Others would argue that the very idea of an unaccountable transnational body calls in to question the sovereignty itself. How can a population choose a course of action, or their representative leader choose a course of action if they can just be overruled by a third party? These are interesting questions. I hope my answers sufficed! Obviously these are just my opinions at the end of the day.

Alien Person

Understood! Yeah, I kinda figured you designed the map irrespective of personal opinions, apologies if I made it sound like I thought otherwise. It's a tragic prediction but I suppose as you said not an impossible or even unlikely eventuality based on current statistics

Callum Diggle

Haha thanks StarFishHugger! Much appreciated 🙌🏻

Callum Diggle

Thanks so much! Yeah it’s good to be back, won’t be long before I have more to show. Oh of course father duties always come first, I’m fortunate though that my wife is super understanding when it comes to my work. You’re right, everything is so hyper polarised right now, so people undoubtedly will. This map isn’t a map of what I personally want to happen, it’s more of a value free take on what could happen in the Humanity Lost universe given existing separatist movements in certain areas and strong nativist sentiments in others that exist in our world today. Great Israel is building upon current trends of Israeli expansion in the levant area, I knew that one would raise some eyebrows, but it would just be unrealistic not to include it given all of what is currently unfolding. Yeah sure, you can share it with a few of your friends, this will be in the print edition of the book.

Callum Diggle

They were both just laying on me this morning haha Ah the red squares are no go zones, usually protected environmental areas, sometimes buffer zones between states in disputed territory. Here, here!

StarFishHugger

Big human! You tiny human is most appealing to look at. You have done well, big human.

Erika Spooner

Again, congratulations! I wonder, were the majority of people on planet Earth around the time the U.E. took over in favor of a world government? How does the U.E. government work? Are they some sort of faux democracy that doesn't actually represent their people? You don't have to answer this if you don't want to, but what do you think of the idea of a world government and how did it influence HL? I have found the idea of international entities with actual power somewhat interesting but I can very much see how they could go wrong. I guess I am fascinated by how something like a world state or a de facto world state could be pulled off, and whether it'd be a force for good or not. What do you think?

Callum Diggle

Thanks Marcos! Ooo that sounds interesting, can you tell me more about why you think there would be a push for independence in that area specifically and how it would come about? Aye, I’d love to go into detail will all of this stuff, but it’s a case of time and of page space/count. I need to keep things streamlined and concise. Ah this is a good point, thanks for pointing that out, I’ll move things around.

Miningation

love Rose and JJ just chillin on the right lol map looks great and is real easy to interpret but i was wondering what the red squares were? i’m assuming they’re just where war took place glory to doggerland

Alien Person

That being said, would you be okay with me showing the map to a couple friends who may be more knowledgeable on this kind of subject to gauge some wider feedback? Not publicly of course but I also don't wanna just share this content around without your permission

Callum Diggle

It is pretty wild!

Callum Diggle

Ah I totally get where you’re coming from, I’ll move its borders southwards and rename it to a more respectful title such as Bántubúdi that is more culturally specific to them without any unintended connotations to the Apartheid regime Also thank you for the kind words mate!

Alien Person

Congrats again on your baby! And what a lovely looking cat too :) It's nice to see some of your work again, but don't take that as any pressure to get right back to work, as I said being a father always comes first and I imagine can take a lot of time and effort haha. it's fun to see speculation on future politics, though admittedly I don't feel I know enough to give any major criticisms, though I feel it would serve well to run this by as many people as you're reasonably able to, just in case anything on the map comes off weirdly to people, even if accidentally. I am curious though about great Israel - what's the history there building off from today? I just feel inclined to ask due to....obvious current ongoing events, how do you intend to explain that in a, for lack of a better term, sensitive way?

Callum Diggle

Oh you’re going to love the next post

DOGGERLAND MENTIONED LETS GO

Marcos

I love maps and this one is awesome. Also the fact that Mexico got divided in natives regions with the original Anahuac name for the Aztec influence zone is very cool... I believe that California would get also some independence movement as it is full of latinos and it's territory would be from San Francisco in the north to Los Cabos in the south, maybe taking Nevada and Arizona as a part of it. It would be really cool to read more details about these Northamerican politics. Keep this awesome work! With that being said... I absolutely hate to be the guy that says that both Anahuac and the Mayan nations are in North America. South America starts in the South Panama...

Omar Molotov

Israeli cyprus is crazy

Callum Diggle

Hahaha thanks Charlie, that sounds like a good time, have fun tinkering! It’s very much appreciated mate, thanks again 🙌🏻

Callum Diggle

I really appreciate it man, thanks!

Callum Diggle

Yeah that’s it man, you hit the nail on the head

Callum Diggle

Thanks man! I’m glad that you found it interesting. Yep, war, war never changes.

Callum Diggle

Thanks as always man! Thank you, I’m so proud of my wife, she has done such a stellar job growing that little bean. Oh my cat loves her! I was worried that he’d feel like he was being replaced, but he’s super chill about the whole situation. Aye there is a lot, I just kept going and going 😂 the acceptance of one lead to a run away effect that just kept domioing. What we’re looking at here is 548 years after the United Earths formalisation in 2121, that’s a lot of time for new independence movements to spring up and form states of their own. The UE allows them to exist because no one of these states, nor even an entire region of these allied states can threaten its power on earth. The UE also dominate the ultimate high-ground of space. Oh the red boxes are no go zones, they’re completely off limits. They’re protected environmental zones for the most part, but some are to keep states apart from one another in disputed territory.

D Lee

Hi Calum first off let me say how much I love love love your work! It's always a pleasure and a delight to see anything you put out. You have nothing to apologise for; nothing at all. I am in no way offended. The Bantu migration is one of the most interesting but least well known mass migrations in human history and completely reshaped Africa's cultural and linguistic makeup so it makes perfect sense you would want to honor it. I know you meant no offence. I could have been more succinct and just said that my main issues I see were the similarities in sound to the word Bantustan which has some very negative historical connections to apartheid and also the geographic location of bantuland as it take in a lot of (non-bantu) southern Nigeria. But please don't worry. I think with the context behind your thinking you have given it is not a major issue. I really do love the map! All the best and thanks so much for the amazing work.

Callum Diggle

Thanks Lee, that’s both interesting and constructive. I was working from research on Bantu migrations, not linguistics and I wasn’t aware of offensive connotations to “Bantuland”, my bad! From what I could tell, Bantu is a ethno-linguistic term, like Slavic etc. That area that I have placed the Bantu homeland near the gulf of guinea does seem to be the area where the bantu expansion spread out from. Niger-Congo and other west African ethnic groups seem to part of this same macro group that migrated across Africa and the languages associated with those areas do seem to find their linguistic origin in Bantu also. From my research I’ve found that there are a few distinct racial groups within continental sub-Saharan Africa, those being the Nilotics, the Khoe-Sān, the pygmies and what I thought were called the Bantu, but you’re saying that’s a purely linguistic term? I’ve seen it used for genetic distribution, but I’m happy to use a better and more accurate term to describe this population with shared heritage if you have one for me? What do you think the semi autonomous homeland should be called? Thanks mate, I know I’m biased, but isn’t she just the sweetest!

Charlie Horse

Hello from the future nation of Deseret, near Moab. Its about time the humans in this area seceded. With the help of the secret underground civilization of Mormon Crickets and our future immortal sasquatch king, prosperity is assured! Well, its a beautiful day and I need to work on my dune buggy's front suspension. Have a good one and congrats on the hatching of your new human larva.

gamerpro980

so the world now only have like 64 nation in total. compare to the current time which is now around 195 nation in total. all that soft power from those individual who would found the U.E effort really pay off. i thought the U.E is the UN successor. well compare to the previous version where there is like only 14 nations in total. since the U.E as a nation already colonized much of the sol system and have an interstellar colony. they don't see other nation as worth it to absorb just leave them be as they see them as no threat at all. as they can simply expand more in space. while those 63 nations don't have any space colony and even having inferior space capability in general.

Davide

Rose and cat♥️. The world map very interesting, Israel and Saudi Arabia even today are expanding, in a very bloody and wrong way

D Lee

Ok i love :-) it but i do have a slight issue with the "Bantuland" in West Africa. Bantu speakers live in Central, East and southern African. That part of Africa (modern day Nigeria and Cameroon) is not Bantu speaking; the languages there are mostly Niger-Congo like Igbo, Yoruba. Also the word Bantu- has somewhat negative connections because of its use in apartheid South Africa. I just can't imagine any African country ever calling itself "Bantuland" which sounds a lot like bantustan (the apartheid era black reservations). What an adorable baby ;-))))))

Fire_Warrior22

Impressive as always lad. And once again congratulations to you and your wife, as well as Rose for being born a healthy baby and your cat for behaving well around her. About the map, I am honestly curious and impressed by the sheer amount of Independence movements that succeeded, especially considering the UE's hegemonic nature. Another thing I am curious about is what those red lines mean?

Ryan

Yeah you and Mrs Diggle did good work bro

Callum Diggle

Haha ah yes, the creation of mine that I’m most proud of! and she was a collaborative effort at that, thanks to my lovely wife for bringing our beautiful daughter into the world ❤️ JJ is great too, truly the goodest boy 🐾

Ryan

Never mind the map look at those gorgeous babies!!! The human and cat, so happy for both of you
