They did indeed, a prime example is the Yarkeen. It’s a key part of their lore that the reason their multi star-system fell is because they grew over reliant on an AI for the running of the empire. There are ancient ruins showing that they had mastery over flux travel thanks to this AI, they even created the first and only flux gates (you can see the ruins of one in the map at the end of volume 1). This is ancient history and all of the detailed are lost to the mists of time, but they had a great interstellar war against their AI emperor and it lead to the fall of the Yarkeen empire thousands and thousands of years ago.
