Polel is indeed from the group that is a Neanderthal equivalent within the broader category of Chantauri. Indeed, there are Chantauri living and working across Conglomerate space, not many of them, but they are out there. There definitely will be a bit of that and they will likely form the neo-chantauri that is oriented towards life in space, but there also be those who want to preserve the fire of Chiron by seeking out those of their respective groups. The Chantauri are very ethnocentric/tribal after all.

Is Polel from the polar region, the ‘neanderthal’ type of Chitari? You touched on culture shifting while in space for the last 20 years, were some passengers awake? I bet many of the different culture on Chiron have come together overcoming regional differences in favor of connection being from the planet
