Hey Martin, they have been a space faring civilisation for hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of years, even they do not know at this point. They live solely in structures of their own creation, which are usually always Dyson swarms. Personally I do not know if a Dyson sphere is actually possible, I think a continuous structure would be too unstable, so I opted for the swarm instead. But they are on their way to becoming a type III civilisation, albeit slowly.

Erika, that is a fascinating theory and I must give it some thought! Yes, the All-Mother can affect psionic individuals. Her influence is more effective on Imperium life-forms because they are genetically primed to be receptive to her, but I wont discount her potential to highjack non-Imperium minds. To answer your last question, this will actually be touched on later on in the book in a unique way and I don’t want to spoil the moment.

roughly how old is the tandraxian empire? I'd imagine they would have been in space for tens, if not hundreds of thousands of years if they're MOSTLY in dyson swarms at this point. Are they capable of constructing a full dyson sphere, making them a type II civilization?

If some of the Tandrax are psionic monks, could they have not acted because they're being influenced by the All-Mother? We saw that the connection to AM can be used to kill an Over-Father? Are psionic individuals more vulnerable to psychic influence than non-psychics? And could the All-Mother in theory destroy a Nomad-star by opening a wormhole to her dimension right on top of the Tandrax and using her superior psychic abilities to destroy them? Is AM capable of creating energy beams or moving things?
