It's been a little while for Octavius. I've had a lot of emotional issues to work through and to be honest, the considerable struggle I have had for a long time about simply putting myself online has escalated this year for reasons out of my control.
I've however been enjoying streaming on Twitch, although I know my OOC content isn't for everyone I find it much easier because I'm not subject to the toxicity I am when I cover retro games. I get it - it's the internet and there's always some dickhead, but as I have specific PTSD which can be triggered by one sexual assault-like comment this causes anxiety which puts my Octavius content to a real standstill.
The positive thing is the last time this happened I turned off my channel for a few months. This time, I felt strong enough not to.
Going forward I'm going to need to streamline my video creation at lot. I do this entirely alone and of course the Octavius channel is just one of my avenues of content creation, even if all avenues are often affected by my illness. I'm going to do that by concentrating on having fun with the character first and foremost. I don't think at this point anyone is watching Octavius to be educated lol.
I am writing this while in the middle of a considerable anxiety episode which has lasted since I exported this video four days ago. I think the video is finished, at this point if I wait for the anxiety to go away so I can check it one more time I won't give you guys a video for another month and I feel like you've waited long enough. There may be a few sound mixing issues though.
Thank you again for your support, and for how kind you all are. I think as content creation is a relatively new job - to the point where lots of people refuse to see it as work - many forget that the person making stuff at this small audience level are human beings with their own struggles and problems. I am very proud that the community my viewers have cultivated is one full of kind and empathetic people who support each other just as much as they do me.

That was awesom Louis. I love how the game reviews are really a framing device for the Octav1us sitcom/ sketch show. Peters crap swan/pig disguise was hilarious. Its easy for me to say, but try not to let the trolls get you down. Theres plenty of people who love what you do, and hope you keep doing it.

I wrote something similar in an Instagram comment recently so sorry for repeating a little. I started watching your channel back around the Digi/Barshens time and I fell in love with it. Compared to the mountain of dry factual channels or raging dudes it was so much fun! You have such an amazing sense of humour and it really shines through in the jokes, the songs, the wacky characters and costumes and the janky green screen effects. Where else can you find someone dressed in a sexy cat suit in one scene and then as a sexist Northern Bloke in another? You have a lovely community who will support whatever direction you choose. It's most important you enjoy what you're doing and have fun with the character. I'm proud of the progress you've made over the last few years in very difficult circumstances, I hope that you feel better soon ❤️

Henlo Louis, There were many trials getting to this point, but it's wonderful to see the Octavius character back on their bullshit. The crappy green screen, the music interlude, and another 10 things to satisfy the obvious joke - this video has it all. Those utter desks who want to mess with your character and content are basically the real Hera - putting up bullshit nonsensical barriers designed to trip you up (and also creating that anxiety inducing backing track!). You don't need to play their game, just carry on making the crappy game content you love for the audience who IS content with it. It's been said many times before, but this caring and supporting online community would not exist without you. Your willingness to be open about your mental health welcomes us all in and is (intended or no) a great source of our power. You inspire me in ways I cannot possibly find the words for (and not just because my anxiety would edit them to within an inch of being unrecognizable from their intent). So before I meander further into what looks like mindless idolatry, let me be the first to say… the sound mixing is fine 😊 Keep being awesome, keep being you 🤝

Once you said “Amiga”, I knew what we were in for. It’s such a shame a system with those capabilities just churned out SO MANY underwhelming platformers that had beautiful colour but just utterly lacked any game play or fun. If there’s one thing Nintendo knows what to do, it’s put gameplay and player experience in the driver’s seat… graphics can only get you so far.
