Try to get from Janitor level mixing (clean and organised) to "emotional intent" mixing. The latter being where rules and levels etc stop being a thing. Just get in to the head of the listener and fuck with them a little. Dissonance, distortion, bit rate, granular etc etc.
Sorry for all the trauma jokes there. They just kept popping out
