Australian here (in my 40s) who went to boarding school- my boyfriend told me awful stories about how year 12s (final school year) would call ‘dibbs’ on the new year 7 boarders. It was a mark of honour, he said, to be one of the chosen because you got treated like a little pet… Horrifying! The older boys didn’t see anything predatory in it because it happened to them… just awful. I recon anywhere where there’s guys all cooped up together it’s going to get pretty gross.
