You are so inspirational, Cecilia, and I think it’s because you are just You. You normalize being yourself, taking time for good health, and living your own me-time. Thank you so much for being you!!!! P.S. Go Grams!
Bibi Cahill
Grams would be super!
P Lim
I love your book. Thankyou for everything you do 💕
Carla Heron
Could you let me know what about Stoner has made you like it so much... Perhaps it was the narrator (vice reading it), but I couldn't make it through the audiobook. Looking for a reason to give it another go.
Aelfwynn Freer
Hi Cecilia!! Regarding the lead character's age in Throne of Glass series, in the prequel Assassin's Blade she is 16 and 17. But she ages through the series and in the end she is 20. Remember she spends a whole year in Endovier salt mines before the first book even starts, so she's 18 in the first book. I think she wrote her that age because Sarah J Maas herself was 16 or 17 when she started writing the series. It was her fantasy of who she wanted to be :)
Sarah Colby
Grams is the easiest and most accurate way to cook, but I'm not sure how many Americans know how to cook with them. I was fortunate to live abroad in high school and was directly shown by my European host mom. Otherwise, I may be intimidated. Maybe include a section on how you cook with grams or a "gram conversion" chart?
Sha2ronS
Grams are no problem for this American. I think most of us have learned for the most accurate baking we really do need to get comfortable with a kitchen scale. I was a little thrown when Christoffer’s recipes called for deciliters though. 😊
Sarah Thompson
Recipes in grams are not a problem for me at all. I use my kitchen scale all the time.
Andra
Hi Cecilia, long shot here but do you think Christopher has any gluten and dairy free recipes? If just one could be included , it would be amaziiiiing!!! ♥️😘
Kelly Langan
I will say I love the UK but I go nuts when I see a UK baker pulling out a drinking teacup or coffee mug for a “cup” and a regular meal eating spoon for tablespoons 🤦🏻♀️ and bake with these things. So maybe grams would be better !!!
Kelly Langan
I have owned a kitchen scale for years. I also have lived overseas for nearly 9 years in Belgium, Germany, Spain, and South Korea while I was in the US Army. After all that time, and even with my scale and speaking more than one language (b/c I want to assimilate), I still convert everything back to imperial measurements, which makes me mad at myself, but old habits die hard. I will occasionally break out the kitchen scale to weigh food when I am portioning for food tracking in my diet but that gets old. As much as we want to move back overseas when we fully retire I feel like I will always be breaking out my measuring cups and spoons versus weighing anything. Would I still buy the book written in grams ? I suppose, but would I actually use it if I had to take the extra steps to convert everything? I would likely use it less than a recipe that already did it for me. We just moved back to the US from three years in Belgium at our last assignment. Before we left, I was getting much more in the habit of measuring things in kilometers, kilometers per hour, kilometers and weight, milliliters, and liters, etc. But since being back here in the states, I have found myself slipping back into my old measuring habits. 🤷🏻♀️👎
Geneviève Charland
Hi Cecilia! I would not be a problem for me :)
Neema D
If you bake at all, you should have a kitchen scale - g and tsp/tbsp is fine. I will have to check out some of those books. I still have gotten into any of the Sarah J Maas books yet. Not sure where to start. I'm in upstate NY and the nights and early morning are getting much cooler now though it is still quite warm midday and afternoon. I'm ready for hoodie weather 🙂
Karen Woerner
I think grams and tablespoons and teaspoons and cups would be better for me.
Cindy Morton-Rose
Non-baking question😁. Recently finished Stoner at your recommendation, and I really enjoyed it. What makes it a 5/5 for you?
Kata Nemes
Grams in Europe :)
Tamalita
I'm in US. Grams are not a problem!
Eileen Hurlbert
I’m also in the US and am fine with grams. I’m really looking forward to the new recipes.
Jules
I have a lot of Scandinavian cookbooks (mom is Danish). And I have to say, it used to be a big pain to do the conversions for every single recipe that you planed on making. (And we don’t usually have kitchen scales here). But it’s a lot easier now with the conversion calculators … It would be nice to have both, but it’s never been a dealbreaker for me!
David E. Achzet
I'm in the US, but much prefer ingredients listed in grams. As you are finding out, most frequent bakers have a kitchen scale. Looking forward to your recipes.
Cedarlass Mo
I have a scale and enjoy the accuracy it allows. So I say make it easy on yourself and stick with grams.
Vicky Gelineau
I'm so excited for the new cooking book! Grams are fine with me :) I'm glad you are taking some time off for yourself. Nourrishing you're creativity is so important. Take care :)
Maria Martin
Maybe use both grams and cups 💕
Teresa Bishop
In US. Grams work fine as far as I’m concerned. Looking forward to your recipe guide.
Gren
In Canada - grams are good. Can’t wait till I receive your book!
Lynn Steller
I am in the USA and use grams whenever the recipe gives that option, which I’m finding is more and more often.
Lisa feyes
Grams are fine we can figure it out!
Teresa Bragg
I love when you talk about the books you have/are read/ing! Are there in person book clubs in Longyearben? Do you belong to one or one via Zoom? I think it'd be cool for you to start a virtual book club with patreon members! I am also interested in, over the years, whether there have been times that due to climatic conditions or whatever....you have had seriously limited food available on Longyearben or such drastic winter weather that you had no power for a long time and had to rely on just wood fires for warmth, etc. Those kinds of situations.
Amy Hering
I say use grams! Maybe we Americans will decide we like it!
Lizzie M.
First: 😮 the look on my face at “wolf ears”, lol. Next: I think grams is perfect. I’m in the USA and can easily get a scale. I’ve been wanting to anyways bc everyone goes on about how much better it makes things you bake taste. Btw, I ordered lingonberry sauce bc of the last Christmas cookbook (I’m going to make the gingerbread) and I freaking LOVE it! It tastes amazing on waffle, btw.
Marsdaddy
I’m in the UK - grams is fine!
Meghan Testerman
Use grams! It's more authentic for you all and kinda of exotic for us Americans :D
Jennifer Sires
Grams no problem. 1. I didn't catch the name of show you were about to watch on big screen? and this video reminds me to order saffron. 2. Are there any new specialty ingredients required for upcoming baking I can order in advance? 3. Do you have a list of your books with ratings that I can reference for next read? (your book reviews are another talent of yours)
S. R. Karfelt
The reindeer pie with mushrooms sprouting made me lol. I just got back from Yellowstone and saw plenty of buffalo ones plopped on thin ground next to geysers but nothing like that! Sadly I never measure anything while cooking—my stars I’m becoming my grandmother.
jj
Grams is preferred! There isn't a conversion factor between grams and cups because grams is a weight measurement and cups is a volume measurement, and never the twain shall meet! So a cup of puffed wheat is vastly different than a cup of wheat flour when measured by weight in grams.
Diane Dills
Grams AOK! Just placed our order for your hardcover book.✔️ So excited for you, Cecilia. Really enjoying your shorts, reels & videos. Question for you - Will your beautiful Grim ever be a father to a new pup in the future? I know y’all are so busy with new cabin, currently, but I was just wondering. Blessings to you, Christoffer’& Grim. Texas USA, here. 🤗❤️🇺🇸
Cheyanne Baird
Grams is fine! I love the mugs at the beginning of the video.
Ursha Vrhovnik
Hey Please do it in grams Recipes in deciliters dont realy suit me but i manage anyway, so gram units would be so great. For your future videos please do how you workout and what you eat in a day and food shopping. Those are my favorite videos❤️ Much love from sLOVEnia❤️
Valeria
Thank you for sharing this lovely update. I look forward to more videos and cozy Fall vibes 🤩🥰
Rachael Plunkett
American here! I have a kitchen scale (thanks to sourdough endeavors) and grams for the book sounds super easy!!
Celeste
Okay american here who’s never used grams in cooking a day in my life. I think you should stick with grams only since it sounds like trying to convert for Americans who only know cups would change the integrity of the recipes. I would absolutely go buy a kitchen scale and start using grams and this would inspired me to go do that. ☺️
meggytron
As I already have a kitchen scale and a few British recipes that use grams I wouldn’t mind your recipes having grams! And as you mentioned, grams are more accurate. Whatever works best for you I’m happy with.
jj
Does anyone live in the Russian village across the bay from your cabin?
jj
I prefer grams! Professionals always use grams for accuracy.🥰
Linda Green
I have a scale because so many recipes call for grams I am ok with grams 🐾
Divyananda Ma Nithya
Grams is fine!
Kaitlin
I'm in the US and I'm fine with grams! Kitchen scales are super handy anyways - I honestly think it's easier to measure everything out that way 🤷🏻♀️ Most of the other chefs I follow use weights for baking too because it's more accurate. I'm excited to try the caramels this year, and I'm definitely making the gingerbread cookies again, so I can't wait to see this year's recipes!
Katy
I bought a kitchen scale because of the European measurements used in some recipes I wanted to try. I can work with grams if I must, but frankly I’d rather not. Measuring with cups/teaspoons/tablespoons is a lifetime habit for me. It feels comfortable and speedy and natural. Working with the scale makes me feel like I’m performing chemistry lab experiments in school, not cooking. I think you should use whatever works best for you in the cookbook.
Cindy Stephens
I’m in USA and I say do grams if that works best for you
Monique de Swardt
Hey C! Quick question where do you buy your earrings?
Cayla Billstein
Grams would be more difficult for me personally but I understand that the rest of the world uses the metric system and it is more precise ☺️
Barbara Eliason
I like grams the best.
Lisa Gemmer
Using a kitchen scale is more accurate and actually easier than cups, etc. I vote grams! I appreciate your videos so very much. It’s a pleasant escape to another world. Thanks!
Lora Brannon
As an American, I actually prefer using grams for baking. I love the precision of it.
Christy Seals
These videos make me happy too!
Christy Seals
I'm so glad the break has been good for you! And thank you for being so generous in sharing videos with us. I'm American and have a kitchen scale, and grams are fine with me! I find them easier and more accurate than cups because I'm kind of chaotic cooking and need strict rules anyway 😂😂
Vikki Leavengood
Grams is fine in this American kitchen. Looking forward the this year’s recipe book. Last year’s book was so beautiful. Thanks for the fun video.
Sheila Penn
Grams are fine! I have a scale. I think it’s a well deserved break to cut back on your work. Thank you for sharing how and why that helps you. It’s so very important to recognize when it’s time to slow down. Hey, that cabin in the boat shot had a bubble for a patio 😃 I already ordered your book and then the signed copy was announced after. Otherwise, I would have definitely bought one with Grim’s precious paw print 🩵🐾 and your signature of course 🤣
Caz Evans
I wonder how much the seasons changing is affecting your stress and creativity too. I know taking a break is definitely a big part, but for me I know the shift into this cooler crisper and darker season has been like a weight lifted off the shoulders and I feel more motivated and energetic!
Dina
Hi Grams are great for the dry ingredients. May I suggest liter for the liquid ingredients? That would be easier also. Love you Cecilia! You are the best! Looking forward to the new recipe book. I made the saffron biscotti many times. My family loves it ! ❤️
Appledelphia
WOW, what kind of mushroom was that big black thing?? Or was it a big pile of poop with mushrooms growing out of it???
Robert Law
Grams are fine.
KC
Hi from Massachusetts, USA. I have a kitchen scale and always use grams!
s j
My scale has grams. Good to go. Enjoy your alone time! Have fun and hug Grim for me
Cindy K
Grams are fine with me!
Brent Conrad
I try to use metric here in Montana we are so close to Canada and I travel there all the time.
melanie
I have a kitchen scale and often use both grams and ounces. I'm happy you mentioned the mine again because I was hoping you were going to go back and film it. Congrats again on the new cabin!
Autumn
Hellllloooooo.... American here!!!! I too have a scale!!!! Bring on the grams!!!
Alyssa Butler
Hello from Tennessee, Cecilia! I bake a lot of European recipes, and I usually just try to convert the grams. Maybe it's time for me to get a kitchen scale. 😆 I love the previous Christmas recipe guide and will definitely pick up the new one regardless of how the recipes are measured! Also, something I'm curious about: you've mentioned playing Stardew Valley, Zelda, and other games. What are some of your favorite video games and how often do you play them, considering all of the adventures you go on and other things you do? I absolutely love your channel, it's sooo comfy and cozy, and I'm happy to be part of your Patreon now! 🩷
Ashley Puskarz
Grams are fine- makes it more authentic 😊 Also, I actually really liked Tower of Dawn too! Working through Kingdom of Ash myself now! 📖
Rachael
grams are used here in Australia 😊
Sara Elizabeth
I am so glad you took a mental health break! You should take as many breaks as you feel are needed. We don't need you "crapping out" on us! 😂 I'm in America and I have a kitchen scale and have baked using only grams before, so I'm good! It definitely makes for more accurate baking! Enjoy your alone time! I'd definitely love another video from you this weekend! 😆
Diane Vujnich
I'm good with grams. :)
Dawn Godman-Martz
I have a scale and I’m not afraid to use it! 😁 Can’t wait to see the creations Christoffer makes. So excited! Enjoy your weekend of solitude ♥️
Donna McKinnon
Grams are fine (I’m in Canada). Question: are there any other cabins in that area, aside from the Russian camp? Sometimes I see other structures in the distance.
Jennifer Fatek
Most people in the UK use grams 😊
Jordan Galerkin
LOVE GRIM! 😍 And yes we have a kitchen scale for grams and would love to use it with the new cookbook 🤗
Joan Rood
I have a kitchen scale and use grams for other recipes I’ve seen in grams.
Kay Smith
Grams are fine most measuring jugs have both. So no problem.
Kristen Maure
I prefer only grams! It's the best and most accurate measurement. This statement is coming from an American lol.
Beeson Debbie
Ps have you or C made rosettes?
Beeson Debbie
Hi C,C,AND GRIM! Everybody can google conversions! Plus whenever I feel sad I go back to your xmas videos with the skinny reindeers and the GLUG oh man christopher shakes his head back and forth like C, easy on the glug! Soooo hysterical! Quite the comedy couple the two of you! Love Debbie
Betsy Whedon
No scale here. So, I would want the recipe guide in cups.
Hannah Dorling
I’m a gram girly so gram away! 😂❤️
Kit
Mushroom poop!!!! 😂 Also, your videos of the new cabin this month were both SO GOOD! I can’t get over the beautiful shots of you and Christoffer getting your coffee out the kitchen window. Please take the time you need to keep the creativity flowing and enjoy yourself 💕
Cristyn Rybak
Grams works for me (I’m American). I prefer that for baking. I’m looking forward to Christmas recipes!
Elizabeth Middleton
Recipes in grams only is totally fine! So easy to quickly convert using phone.
Carla P.
Grams are fine! I have a scale & used it a lot while in WeightWatchers. Grams are more precise, so a great way to measure. Looking forward to your new holiday baking guide!! 🌲🎄🌲 Love the theme of green pine & snowflakes, that will look delightful❄️. And can't wait for the mine video...ooh, that sounds neat & interesting!!⛏️👷🏻♀️. Happy weekend--
Wendy Raschke
Grams is a must! Measurement by mass is a must in baking.
Jacqueline
I bought a kitchen scale just now so fine to put it all in grams! I am ready.
Jackie
You have to take time for yourself when needed, don’t let your steam run out!❤️ I have a scale so no problem!
Carol
My scale does grams so not a problem.
Toni Wilcher
If you do another video this weekend, books or movies would be a great convo. Since it’s banned book week, I am reading “Glass Castle” a memoir and banned book. It is a great book.
Toni Wilcher
I’m so happy for you, C & G for getting the cabin. Grams would be absolutely fine, I have a scale! Grams are more accurate. And happy that you are taking some time to rest!!
ꜱ ᴘ ᴇ ᴄ ᴛ ʀ ᴀ
Are the signed copies also signed by Grim?
Victoria Rhodes
Grams….no problem at all! I use a scale for baking anyway.
Allison Fitzpatrick
So glad youve taken a break this month! Your health is top priority!
Christine Jensen
As for a second Patreon video this weekend, I would love to hear more about your decorating and design plans for the remote cabin 🏠
Ariana Estariel
Grams are no problem for us. We have a great scale and baking/cooking by weight (grams, especially) is so much more accurate, IMHO.
Christine Jensen
So pleased that you have taken this self care time. It is so important for you to continually renew and refresh your body, mind and muse. 💕
Lorraine Allen
Just do grams. We can figure it out, either with a scale or convert for the recipe we want to use. Good practice for the ounce folks. :D Ooh - I look forward to the mine video! Wolf ears - LOL!
Romy Drouin-Picaro
Canada being forever stuck with a mix of metric and imperial systems, we use cups instead of grams here as well. It wouldn't be a problem for me personally but I'm pretty sure a lot of people wouldn't want to take the time to convert here too, sadly!
Deborah Loeffler
Grams no Problem.. I already use them in Oklahoma 😊
Kimm Baker
PS I ordered my signed book and I am giddy with excitement!!!💙
Lois Harwood
I use a scale so no problem. Can easily convert if need be too. Thanks for asking!
Kimm Baker
American here. Good time for me to buy a scale and learn how to measure!!! 😀
Pamela Marino
I could figure out grams. It would be fun to try a different measuring method.
Karin Kaelin
I have a scale so no problem for me 😉.
Mary G
I have a scale, so not an issue for me.
Lisa B.
As far as grams go, if it’s easier for you and Christoffer I can figure it out.
Dawn Szelc
Baking with grams is the best way to go. I had no idea how uncertain it is baking with cups, until taking baking classes. Now I hate recipes that have only cups! Using a scale is sooo much easier. For all the people who said they don't like grams or it's too hard (or whatever), get a digital scale (simple on Amazon!) and try it! You won't want to go back to cups! It's much easier and more accurate.
Patty Poot
Measuring in grams is no different than measuring in cups. Put your cup on the scale, add your ingredient, when it reaches the gram amount, voila, finished and ready to use
Laurie C
I don’t have a problem using recipes with weight measurements.👍🏻
Patty Poot
Loving your adventure so much that we will be putting a cabin in our garden! If I can't get to Svalbard, I'll bring Svalbard to Holland. Grams is no problem as most digital scales are imperial and metric. All the cookbooks I use are American, and I easily convert to grams, have been for over 30 years. Like you know, metric is so much more accurate. Can't wait to get your book and the new cookbook, will the cookbook be available in paper print? There is something nice about reading a Christmas/Holiday cookbook with cookies and a cup of hot tea/chocolate/coffee and deciding what to make for the holidays.
Erika Maxim
I prefer grams, so I would have no problem with a recipe book that only has grams
Magdalena Bochenek
I have a scale so if you put the recipes in grams, I will just use the scale so I don’t have an issue with grams! ~ love from the U.S
BamseBluemchen
I have no problem measuring in grams. Cups are such a hassle.
Velocity Girl
Also, there are many people here that aren’t at that level yet… so I take back my vote. If they need cups that’s fine…if it encourages people to bake, then that’s pretty cool!!
Daisy Polkadots
Truthfully if the measurements weren’t also in standard units I probably wouldn’t try the recipe. I’d have to really really want it to take the time to go to Google and translate each one
Velocity Girl
Pleeease don’t switch grams to cups! I’m in the U.S., a baker, but I’d be lost… how would I bake with precision lol!!?? 5 thumbs down to that! And it would take me longer to use cups lol… I’d have to google how cups to grams lolollol. You just made me sweat 😅
Laurie Nelson
What’s a gram? JK. The US is not on metric nor is it likely to be. So yes, a recipe guide with only grams would not be of interest.
Eco Sharon
Grams not a problem at all for me and look forward to following the recipes. 👏👏
Alice Wonderchek
Grams are fantastic for baking. I've been converting my cookbook recipes slowly over the years for the precision.
Megan Hannah
Unfortunately, grams are beyond my current baking skill level! Lol
Jacque Drew
Grams - YES please!! I'm in the US and hate any recipe with measurements. I've weighed ingredients for years and won't go back to cups and teaspoons.
victoria taylor
Selfishly, grams would be bad for me, lol
