An Orthodox Approach to Art and Entertainment, with Jay Dyer and Fr. Deacon Ananias Sorem
🕑 Added 2023-03-04 05:51:52 +0000 UTCA conversation with Jay Dyer and Father Deacon Dr. Ananias Sorem, on how we all think about film, entertainment, and the arts. As we frequently point out instances of destructive messaging and Satanic programming in pop-culture, here we have a broader discussion about the positive and negative aspects and potential of film. We share thoughts about the role of entertainment within an Orthodox lifestyle, the lines we all draw about what kind of art we'll expose ourselves to, and the relevance of epistemology for analyzing pop-culture.

CORRECTION: The film Brett references concerning the use of subliminal imagery is actually My World Dies Screaming, rather than The Screaming Skull (both being 1958 films)

Dreyer's ORDET is probably the most spiritually moving films Ive ever seen along with Robert Bresson and Tarkovsky, of course, specifically Rublev. But Bresson and Dreyer even more so the older I get. Great sesh fellas.
