How the Sony PlayStation 2 Security was defeated
🕑 Added 2019-04-22 11:41:00 +0000 UTCThis week we deep dive into the security layers of the Sony PlayStation 2 and while it was much improved over the PS1, it still was not enough to stop hackers from finding methods both in hardware mods and software exploits to easily defeat its security system and open up the machine for homebrew and backups.

I personally had a DMS3 chip which enabled me to install software such as a genesis emulator called pgen to the memory card. once installer you would hold triangle on boot to enter "Dev.olution" mode. you could then have a disc full of roms to play. Upgradeable firmware was a nice touch as well. http://ps2.x-pec.com/dms3_operation.html https://segaretro.org/PGen

Great video! Really nice to go down memory lane and have a few "ah-ha!" moments as you explained how the security was defeated.
