Hyperpop type stuff is definitely an acquired taste, not really my favorite but it was a fun song and I thought it went well with the quickfoot stuff and the format. Condolences on the gf sitch. I work in film and I'd be really curious to know more about what went down between you and Wesley. What did/does he get out of this? Did you pay him? You said the vid isn't monetized so sharing revenue is out the window. Is he unknown enough to warrant a type of situation where "exploitation" gets replaced with " exposure". Anybody who works in film will know what I'm talking about. But this isn't to talk down on you I'm just genuinely curious where exactly your relationship turned sour, what your relationship was at the beginning vs what it is now. Etc. Any chance of getting him on a vlog for us patreon crowd? 30 min BTS realtalk so we can hear his side of the story? Does he feel fairly treated? Would he do it again? Reason I'm so obsessed is I was the "Wesley" in a snowboard film a few years ago that ended up having an international festival run and got Best of the Month on Vimeo etc etc. It was one entire winter of filming and three months of editing hell at zero pay. But it did catapult my career into another level and it gave the snowboarder his own career as a filmmaker on top. And I'm still proud of the film itself. But even so the snowboarder and I agreed at the premiere and we still do agree now three years later that it wasn't worth it. We came close to killing each other. I don't think I've ever hated an individual person so passionately (I do hate fascists and neoliberals as a general group even more, but that's different). I still think about what we could have done and when we should have done it to prevent the epic meltdown the project turned into. It's a good look letting Wesley use your footage for a DC on his own channel. I just wonder if Wesley thinks, barring other payment/payoff, it's sufficient compensation for the work he put into it.

I liked the fs 180 up the curb and the 5-0 180 on the curb i feel like both tricks made sense in each line. It’s similar to how you said the boardslide to blunt felt empty. I think both last tricks without the first trick would have lacked flow and would also feel empty.

The reason people thought you might be trolling was mainly because of the music, along with the zoomed filming, NOT the tricks. “Dubstep” is the typical troll move, and most agree that Strobeck filming is beyond played out now. But as you explained, you like that kind of music and the zoomed filming was old. I took the part seriously and enjoyed it. Trick and spot selection were well thought out and not using b-roll was a king move

8:24 Saying people don't like hyperpop because it's new and they haven't heard it or just that they're an Oldhead or whatever so they just don't understand it is kind of a dismissive take on people having different taste in music than you. I like noise metal but if I put in a part it wouldn't really be fair to get all "you guys don't understand good music" when people didn't like it. You're downplaying how abrasive hyperpop is a genre. A lot of people hate it and using it is deliberately challenging your viewers, even if you genuinely like it. Not that there's anything wrong with that but don't act like you aren't trolling in any way with the song choice.
