Yeah, i get you. I still think style is something that can’t be faked. Learning how to present your skating in the most appealing way is important, but if you try to hard or do some obv fake shit (flailing a certain way) it’s going to show (Elijah Berle). There are tall guys with great style like B.A or Nate Jones, so being tall is hardly the issue. Imo K.White just never pushed himself hard enough to become fluid, and adapt a good style. So he just looks clumsy. I think there’s an important difference between faking it and learning how you personally look the best on a board. Not trying to win any argument here, just my thoughts & good convo :~]

if you don't think jerry hsu was adding a little extra spice you're trippin ha ha ha. I think that some people do seem to naturally move a certain way that is aesthetically pleasing (btw a lot of it has to do with body type/build), but for those who don't, I don't think they should be relegated to looking like Kevin white (btw who's simply too tall). I think we all have to learn how to control our arms and stop them flailing, or get them to flail a certain way (more controversial just testing the waters)

I guess my previous ”unpolished” remark kind works in favor with what you’re saying. HOWEVER, hear me out. Since style is such a redeeming factor in todays ever so saturated landscape, people end up exaggerating some mannerisms in order to stand out, think; wacky safety arms, tfunks powerslide/leg tweaks, the please notice my loose trucks steez, dab/frozen landings etc… Now think about those timeless styles like: Arto, Jerry Hsu, Mike Caroll, Stranger and not to go full old head (cuz I’m not) I think Vincent Touzery is a good modern day example of this. All of the above never force you to notice the ”style”. They just skate, and the natural asthetics make it look good. Now Jeff is the opposite of this, everything just looks bad and akward. Always has and always will because he just skates the way he feels the most natural. The asthetics don’t (traditionally atleast) work in his favor, so it translates to dogshit style. We dont ALL have to fake it, but it can help you bait steezelord rep. I feel like Heitor’s sometimes just feeling himself too much, and ends up adding unecesarry extra sauce. I think fake steez is corny, and super overdone in skating right now.

I take your addition kindly but I think the point stands firm. we all have to fake it a little, people just have different thresholds. for me, heitor is right on the border, kinda sick and sometimes very corny. Everyone loves t funk (as do i) and he obviously "fakes" it to some degree, people just like the way he fakes it, they BELIEVE it. helps that he's short

real asf for the ville part esp since it was his first part after turning pro. at the same time tho he has deedz's big pants loose trucks flow which is pretty hit or miss imo, has some dope tricks and great spots but sometimes you just end up with a sketchy clip that feels like other skaters would have redo'd

Also, re: keeping a list. I did that in 2022 as an experiment by making a youtube playlist for skate videos for the year. I just added videos to the playlist if it was decent after I watched. Then I'd drag the videos up and down to rank them when I was bored every month or two. That way, I had a list going all year, and I think recency bias didn't warp my thinking as much.
