I don't think it's beyond reason to assume that some of them have the necessary skills. However, the requirement for being counted as one is just to be very strong and able to travel between universes, so the Devil qualifies, and he can neither fix nor wield corruption, so it's reasonable to assume that most of them can't either.

I think her lvl 150 class advancement will already be a huge thing. But when it gets to her lvl 200 evolution and class advancement, a lot of common sense defying bs is possible, so you might be right. That leaves the question: Can worldwalkers like Trico properly control corruption? Or is Salvos already just a step away from getting a compatibility advantage?

Danijel Turina

Well, as I said, Salvos is a special case, which is why I think she has a better chance of actually fixing the thing eventually, but she currently doesn't have the tools to do anything more than survive this mess for a short period of time, but eventually, for instance with her second class at 200 with perhaps some special blessing from the System, I see her being able to leave Nexeus, circumnavigate its outer shell, see the damage and repair it, if the thing is an actual physical world, and the corruption isn't something in the order of a bad RAM stick. After all, from what we saw in this chapter, corruption might be nothing more than Void-intrusion, or interaction of void with some kind of fractal space they are using as building blocks. I'm just throwing guesses here, of course.

Dragonmaster_42

Fixing it from the outside... That's normally impossible. It was a miracle Salvos had her divinity, [My Flames Shall burn until eternity ends], her draconic resistence, her space magic, the specific circumstances and her eagerness to become what overpowers her when diving into the corruption. For any other creature, probably up to and including the fucking Beast, this would have been impossible. And that's not a matter of power, knowledge or strength alone but also compatibility. Samuel would definitely be in over his head to control the corruption. I think you have to be willing to give the corruption space within you and at the same time have the power to keep it in check to even get to the point of developing something from corruption. And I still think Salvos would have a hard time existing within the corruption without continuous and conscious effort. Hartia's reaction is reasonable even for someone more familiar with the corruption...

All the while, Taburas is sulking because Haec is out on a date with Salvos. :)

Glueing VR wallpaper onto the wall of void doesn't sound like a sound engineering principle, I have to agree. :)

Kennyevilmonkey

Ah, I see the issue here. They were using architects instead of engineers. No wonder everything went to shit.

matt

Contradiction. Hartia trembled as he sensed that unsettling sensation— something unlike anything he had ever seen or felt before. Of course not. He had seen that power before.

I hope Salvos will somehow be able to tap into those memories of his, because it would be a damn shame if she didn't; it looks like something that would be super useful to her later on.

Yes, that's a good question too. There's abundance of evidence that messing with the world while being arrogant enough to assume that "it will be fine" results in fatal events more often than not. Also, the more I think about it, the more it seems that they always make the same kind of mistakes - they try to work from the inside of Nexeus and break into the void, and it is implicitly obvious that they can't handle the void; in order to be able to do anything you'd have to be strong/resistant enough to go into the void itself and create structures from there, and then possibly integrate them into the Nexeus. however, so far we know of only one person who was able to go into the void, create a structure inside and survive, and that's our favourite Smurfette. :) I think the corruption of Nexeus can be fixed by going through that wall of infinite corruption to the other side, see what is broken and fix the outer shell of the world somehow. The thing Samuel did, by making a sub-plane from within like a balloon that has its outer shell leaning on the void-wall will collapse sooner rather than later, and I think Salvos has half of the skills necessary to come and save the day.

Q-Riff

The more relevant question is: Why is he going along with Regnorex's stupid plan when he's experienced what happens when you're reckless with the fabric of the nexus.

Danijel Turina

Have they learned nothing from Samuel's mistakes?

Ihaxlikenoob

Godddamn, Basil/Hartia failed to comply with OSHA regulations and got everyone around him killed for it. Feelsbadman 😞

Azrie

Welp, I certainly didn't expect this backstory. No wonder Lotus and the others died. Probably much stronger than a Hellspace too. Funny how Salvos gave him complete flashbacks to everything. Nice chapter.
