Troubling Update from Patreon
🕑 Added 2024-07-04 17:20:41 +0000 UTCI got a notification from Patreon saying that unless I give my government ID and a selfie to a third party company, I will be unable to withdraw any of the money that I've earned. I've been using Patreon for years and the fact that they are freezing my account unless I hand over my data to a company I've never heard of is incredibly concerning.
I will keep you all informed about this situation as it develops, but in the meantime, my SubscribeStar is still open: https://subscribestar.adult/vim
In other news, the next release of my game is almost ready!

They're making me do it through Jumio though, and that company has several lawsuits against it for illegally storing private information.

Like Jen said… it’s a legal thing. they are trying to make sure that you are reporting your wages properly since technically they are liable if you don’t report for taxes. company is above board. but do document everything including the message patreon sent you regarding this issue. that way if anything does happen… you have a paper trail to cya and get your money back.

Had to do the same thing. Totally above board and nothing you send will be connected to your public page. It all has to do with $$$ since you are collecting taxable income. I had to do the same for my page ❤️
