Kat B M

Bit late to the party here but I find it hilarious how Theo thinks he is 'not showered in weirkeys this time around' when he already has a solid handful of them and most Authorities around him maybe has access to one.

Sarah Lin

These should be fixed on my end.

Dylan

“Sometimes Theo forgot that not everyone [knew] Tythe’s…”. “Even after months of practice she wasn't the most agile flier [he’d] seen, but she was fast. “

Wes Brown

Krikree is honestly one of the best characters

Elliott

I’m wondering if basements can be used to do special *things* (material processing etc) during ascension. Perhaps the structure of the basement doesn’t get reinforced like the walls/ceiling/floor do in the rest of the soulhome when ascending. Not sure about the actual primary/secondary materials in the basement though… maybe they get improved in the same way, so just being out is fine (although if that was the case you’d still want things IN all basement rooms before ascending?). Or maybe just being in a basement can bond them to your soul over time anyways, so ascension just gives them a temporary leg-up not a long-term benefit.

Elliott

Theo has encouraged her well in the power of YOINK.

Sarah Lin

Yeah, typo for knew, thanks.

ZJJ

Edit suggestion: Sometimes Theo forgot that not everyone {know} Tythes's true face. Should be ‘knows’ or ‘knew’?

ZJJ

Here’s the quote about Nauda and Essaire’s fight: He tumbled over the blue crags, and Nauda wanted to jump after him, but instead she went to retrieve what he'd dropped. The one she'd seen proved to be a Slescan weirkey and the other was a silver sublime material that felt like some sort of inter-world communication or warning. I’m assuming that after picking it up Nauda kept the weirkey.

Adamanus

Did Nauda take Esaire's Slescan weirkey? She knocked it away from him and then focused on pounding him into the dirt. Then the Demon Court Stronghold arrived and stopped her from killing him.

Sarah Lin

Uh, yeah, my bad on Isorales. Good catch.

ZJJ

‘In the end, he put the Noveni weirkey away: better to return as a Stronghold, when he would have more leverage and could pick up the statues being soulcrafted by Isorales's uncle.’ I think that should be Isorales's grandfather? Theo and Naudaa were sharing a Slescan weirkey. Nauda had two Slescan weirkeys—one found in the termite city and one dropped in her battle with Essaire—so should we assume she gave the second to Fiyu? It’s great that Theo finally has a permanent Fithan weirkey, but it will be even better when they have all the weirkeys… or can craft one that can go anywhere. 😊

Mr. tj333

Nice to see them doing the inter-world trading.

Kangaroo

Am really looking forward to Crimsoncrest.

Runcible Technician

Always a good day when I see a new book beginning. Thanks for putting it out even while exhausted.

Keid

Not gonna lie, when I first saw the title my brain read it as, "Crimsoncrete," like Bloodcrete 2, The Cretening.

Felix Smit

I was honestly not expecting chapters for the new book for a few weeks. So this was a pleasant surprise! This first chapter had a bit of everything and was great. One bit that drew my attention is that ascensions don’t reinforce basements. What would that mean with regards to its contribution/hinderance to a successful ascension? For the rest of the soulhome the concept of unity (materials matching up/ being appropriate) and materials being firmly rooted in your soulhome plays a large factor in successful ascensions and is why some soulcrafters with haphazardly chosen, albeit powerfull, materials dont get very far. Does the fact that basements not getting reinforced by acensions mean that soulcrafters can deviate from their main theme more without the drawbacks? Im going to stick to a workshop type basement for simplicity; can theo say focus on say light or ice materials? What about the qualitative phase shift one gets from the larger ascension of dominion to aeon. (I cant remember the first of the three). Will the basement materials have to be replaced after this point?

Schuyler Bostedt

Thank you for the chapter. I really admire the way you've developed the characters from start to now. All of the characters feel so real in their growth. Theo especially feels so much like a bitter old obsessive who is working on better himself but falls into old habits. And as always I can't get enough of Krikree.

Sarah Lin

Like Beatrice starting with "Gee".

Sarah Lin

Good catch, thanks.

Travis Smith

Krikree best scout!

Adamanus

Is Giatrice pronounced like a combination of Gina and Beatrice? Or with a hard g?

ZJJ

Small typo: "Fiyu-queen okay?" Krikree skittered onto his shoulder, peering from point black range. Should be …peering from point blank range. Thanks for this chapter... it's great to see the start of Crimsoncrest!

Josh

This is a lovely surprise; you would have earned a break! Thank you!

Sarah Lin

Yeah, typo on my end.

Payasuo

Thank you :)

guillaume nguyen

Happy birthday !!!

guillaume nguyen

Can we get more yay ? I'm gonna do more yay. YYYYAAAAYYYYY !!!!

TheShrubKing

Great chapter as always just want to say that feeling "tapped, both in terms of energy and emotion" should be a valid reason to delay, and I hope that everyone here would agree.

Casey Lang

Thanks for the chapter, minor typo correction: “ Even after months of practice she wasn't the most agile flier she'd seen, but she was fast.” “She’d seen” should be “he’d seen”, if I am properly following things.

Tokufan178

Thanks for the chapter! Excited to see how material refining works

AnythingAtAll

I've felt nervously excited starting every book since Bondsfungi, when the series had truly hooked me. I feel *far* more nervous this time. There are so many players right now and there are no longer any convocations to moderate any conflicts. On top of that, the top players are explicitly aeon-class forces while Norron is only Dominion-tier, and the party are, at best, collectively a Stronghold. Super excited! Super nervous! Warm welcomes to Crimsoncrest!

Payasuo

What a beautiful way to start my birthday. Thank you.

Jerek Kimble

Oooo material processing in the basement

Timothy Alexander

Very interesting! I see we are starting to get stuck into the much-teasted sublime material creation alteration stuff this book! Tftc!

Tobias Begley

Theo and Krikree have an adorable dynamic
