So I recently got back from a trip to California from Montana, I noticed that most diamond interchanges had the highway on a bridge over the crossing road rather than the bridge being the crossing road over the highway. With the highway needing to be much stronger to handle so many more vehicles why would they put the highway on a bridge? Wouldn’t it need way more maintenance and would be way more expensive to build? Is it just because the span over the crossing road is smaller than the span over the hwy? Ex. Of hwy bridge over crossing road (45.6470160, -109.2478410) Ex. Of crossing road over hwy (45.7066888, -110.4548357)

Also, I have a question for knowledge time with Matt When it comes to drainage in residential areas. Why do they need to send a drainage specialist when I want to get a driveway instead of grass.
