Ha! Ava lapping the coffee like a dog was hilariously great! It's fun to see pages like these to flesh out side characters. It really makes your settings feel like real worlds when the characters have more going on outside the scope of the main story. Also some great details here too. I was born late 90s. IME, Satire is absolutely still funny, dark humor is still utilized and found comical by most- making jokes at your friends expense is pretty normal across all friendships- but, there is a difference between having people laugh with you and laugh at you. Multiple things can be true at once. Being critical of humor isn’t always a knee jerk reaction to being offended, but we all have knee jerk reactions to things- being offended because someone didnt like your joke or questions your intentions behind the joke, is also a knee jerk reaction. Some things are better and some are worse. Totally agree people take some things way too seriously, across the spectrum of people and culture. But I think they always have- I mean religion is right there. I would also argue some people do not take some things seriously enough and some jokes are just in subjectively bad taste, or more so, aimed at the wrong audience. Perhaps what changed the most is that social media has provided a platform for people to speak their minds without filter and without immediate social consequences, with less censorship, and without that, the general population has become more loose lipped And more reactive as a whole. For better or worse!

You know, the way people are today, and how news is being reported, I have to wonder, what doesn't suck..? I mean, seriously... There was a time, about a decade or so back, where, yeah, we could tell off color jokes about just about ANYTHING and everybody would laugh, because everybody KNEW that they were jokes, never meant to be taken seriously, and,if it were about politics, race, religion, sexual preference, or even gender differences, those jokes were meant to hold those negative views up in RIDICULE, to effectively, slay those views with humor, to laugh at those who seriously felt that those objectionable views were a good idea. Now? If you say anything that could be considered the least bit offensive, ESPECIALLY if done in humor, you are ostracized and effectively become an "unperson" as far as the public views. As much as I hate to admit it, society was better off in the 1970's through to the end of the 1990's, when we could make those kinds of jokes, poking fun at each other and ourselves, without wanting to lynch or otherwise, destroy the lives of those who would dare to find humor in stupid and outmoded ways of thinking. Instead, I find myself afraid to even sneeze or cough at the wrong time or in the wrong place, for the fear of causing offense. I have a friend of mine back east, with whom I used to crack racist jokes back and forth with him all the time, and neither of us thought the worse of then other. Yes, he is black, and I am white did we care? Not in the least! We were friends, and I still consider him "my brother from another mother". If I'm with him and someone starts some crap with him, I'm the first that will call others on that, and he's the same with me. I have friends of different gender preferences whom are much the same attitude as me about that sort of crap. People take things WAY TOO seriously these days. Lighten up. Try smiling, be excellent to each other... Except blonds., make all the jokes you want about them...
