Avatar: The Last Airbender - 1x01 “The Boy in the Iceberg” FULL REACTION

I'm not sure that LOK is better written, but apart from season 2 I thought it was all very strong, compelling and intriguing writing. From the villains, to their desires, to their methods, LOK has a great rogues gallery and that always makes the hero seem greater by necessity. (minor, sorta spoiler coming) ATLA has good villains and one or two amazing ones but i tink OK outshines it. Having 1 extra season also helped. Still prefer ATLA over all to watcht & Korra is a great sequel basically.

Yo Liam, glad to see you checking out ATLA, amazing show. I might get some hate for this but I kinda think LOK is better written and a better show though I prefer TLA cause of nostalgia and what not. Anyway I show I would recommend as it has similar vibes to TLA, though a very different plot and magic system. The Dragon Prince, it's only got 3 seasons that would go by in a flash, pus it's animation so it can take ages to make. But maybe after Avatar or just at some point down the line you could check it out and it'll be 5 seasons strong.

Super late so fingers crossed you’ll still see this, but I’d love to see you do the SyFy series 12 Monkeys! It ran for four seasons (13/13/10/11 episodes, respectively) so it would be a fairly quick watch. The show has a similar feel to Buffy in a lot of ways, despite wildly different settings and being on opposite ends of the genre tv spectrum—and it features Jennifer Goines, aka River Tam 2.0, this time somehow with MORE cinnamon in the proverbial roll. I think you’d really enjoy it!

It is a show that is deceptively simple and, well, children's Saturday morning cartoonish for the first handful of episodes. And then it takes a sudden turn and gets deeper, richer and more complex. It would reward a reaction watch. In many ways, this is like Buffy, which starts as simple monster-of-the-week episodes in season 1, then turns the screws several notches with first "Prophecy Girl," then "Lie to Me" and then "Surprise/Innocence," making clear that it has a lot more on its mind than a bunch of friends cleverly defeating monsters each week.

I officially love you for requesting this!

yes! I hope you do continue with this series. love your reactions and love Avatar. I'm sure you'll love it.

I'm so excited if your really taking AtLA on. If your still on the fence it is an amazing show with a great world with even greater history and lore not to mention the charters both with the main cast and side characters are awesome even bit characters and characters you hate are awesome. Also I have to agree with Angela Colon you should watch the next episode not only because it's a good episode but it's the part 2 of the pilot that even aired with this episode so... Great reaction to this as well. If you do continue this I cant wait to see who you dub your cinnamon roll💜

UTU49

Well said!

"Its one of the greatest cartoons to have existed." That raises an excellent topic of conversation. --> What are the other contenders for greatest cartoon? In this context, I guess we should specify "cartoon series".

Angela Colon

I don't know how to request stuff, but you should watch part 1 and 2 for ATLA to get the full pilot. Also, please just watch the whole thing!

Sherlyn

Lana requested Mulholland Drive. It's such a complicated movie, she might prefer a rewatch if you've already plunged into it.

Koz

I may be mistaken, but I believe someone requested the movie Johnny Dangerously at the time.

Richard Lucas

Shipping Zallison! 😉

Richard Lucas

Probably just making s’mores 😉

Liam: I'm watching Dollhouse after the streaming *Avatar pops up overnight* Me: surprised Pikachu face

Richard Lucas

By the way, the full pilot is really episode 1 and 2, the same way it was on Buffy. However I would also watch the third episode.

Chess Red Eagle

"I wonder how he got that burn" No idea...perhaps watching more of the show will answer this question. *wink wink *nudge nudge

I second this, Buffy = ATLA (sort of). I think you will enjoy this Reactor, he doesn’t have Patreon but he just finished the series a day or two ago: https://youtu.be/Bl8qxBALo58

Hey Liam, very exciting to see avatar, would be very interested in future reactions to it if you do them! I had to drop down from the $10 tier to $5 last month due to covid related money troubles, so if you aren't able to react to my suggestion it's not a big deal at all! But if you can, of the ones I gave you to choose from, I think the one that Im the most confident would be in your wheelhouse is Wynona Earp. No pressure at all though

I requested the original Charmed! 🙂 thanks Liam! I'm like 90% sure I know who you'll end up calling a cinnamon roll 🥺😄

UTU49

Liam, you haven't seen Orphan Black? That's great news. :) That means you could potentially react to it.

Chaotic Cam

I am so excited to watch this! And hey there, Liam! Commenting that I requested Orphan Black. :D

Bunny Norris

I’m so happy for you! You truly deserve only the best of shows!

There is literally no other show you could react to that would guarantee my monthly fee harder than this one.

UTU49

ATLA. Great show. Interestingly, since I first watched it, I've always felt that it is the show that is closest to Buffy... believe it or not! They are a similar blend of Drama, Comedy, Action, and Fantasy. I've long been on the look out for a reactor doing Avatar. I've enjoyed a couple of reactors that stopped, or uploaded inconsistently.

Koz

I know you know about this one because you mentioned it during the livestream, but since you asked, Hercules and The Amazon Women. 😁

Chess Red Eagle

*proceeds to lose his shit. I hope you continue this series. Its one of the greatest cartoons to have existed. All hail the Duke! Is it too obvious I'm a huge fan of the show? Lol
