Hey Everyone!
New month, with awesome new builds to start it off!
It's been super busy but I spent a whole week answering emails, a whole week on Besti X, and a whole week on Besti 9!
The result of that is:
- Besti X has some new code and internal art assets for use in Equigon, one of the new Besti X-based programs. Still no release ready so no new keys until that's ready.
- Besti 9 has huge internal improvements as well as a whole new character class (Kirins)
- There are a ton of new textures and information on making Besti 9 characters in the new "Besti 9 Friend Tools" download on the server. Check that out if you want to make custom textures as the stuff in there is sure to help you make neat stuff <3
Because I am perpetually behind on emails I've been posting a lot on my Twitter account just talking about what I'm up to while I'm up to it. It helps me stay organized and if you'd like to follow along with my day you're welcome to drop by on there and spy on me. I may not reply to comments but I've been doing pretty well keeping it updated since I started doing it.
This week is almost assuredly going to be 100% email answering as I have 170 that made it through the filters that I need to reply to. As always if you want a quick response on an emergency thing (server is down, can't find keys, etc...) just hit @veelicious on the Discord server and she can get me.
Once I'm done with emails I'm going to jump straight into Besti X again and see if we can get that published. <3
Here's the changelog for Besti 9.94!
New Features
- Kirin friend classes are now available. Kirins are chimera creatures that are a mixture of a variety of creatures like horses, deer, dragons, etc.
- Accessories have been added to create Kirin characters, specifically
- A variety of body styles
- A new tail that partially colors itself with the character's body
- A new mane that goes down the character's neck
- Wrist fluff that colors itself with the character's body
- Knee fluff that colors itself with the character's tail
- A shape that gives the characters cloven hooves
- Being a kirin is an inherited trait from the mother.
- If you want to make a custom texture Kirin because one of the many new body styles can't do your character, I'll have a video as well as source files to work from in the next release of the Besti SDK.
Core Updates
- Significantly reduced CPU load when bringing in a friend character.
- Reduced the size of the friend module that needs to live in RAM by about 10MB.
- Wrote all new processors to handle the new character parts.
- Ported the Besti X eye-blinking handler I wrote to Besti 9. Blinking eyes are significantly improved as well as the eye behavior when the character is speaking.
Known issues
- In the character creator, if you change the tail of the character AFTER activating the knee fluff clothing accessory, the knee fluff coloring will not be in sync with the tail. This is a deep issue that would require several days of programming to compensate for so I'm going to leave it. If you want to fix it in the creator scene, just re-load the knee fluff. It won't save itself as a different color and will fix itself when you load the character.
