The cutting rig is a "Mag Lance". We used them at ALCOA, when I worked there. It's a 10 foot steel long pipe with about 1/8th inch rod's of Magnesium in side. It burns at about 6,000 degree's. It can burn through anything! We used it to burn through cast iron furnace plug's when the handle broke off. We also used to get Mag fires on the top of the big molten aluminum furnaces we had. The only way to put it out was to keep piling Calcium Carbonate powder on it until you smothered it. I worked there 28 year's.
