First off, my thoughts are with Jason. I lost my furbaby last August and she was by my side constantly so I understand what you are going through right now. This movie is great. Fun Fact: They originally wanted M&Ms to be used in the movie but Mars Inc turned them down so Reese Pieces was used instead. Hersheys sales went up because of this smart move.

I did see The Menu gg. I thought it was pretty good in a weird way. I must say, the cheeseburger scene at the end got me in the feels when she gave him that last chance to remember his love of cooking. I love to cook/bake and I love films about chefs. Some of my favorites are Chef (2014), Burnt (2015), Ratatouille (2007), and my ultimate fav...The Hundred Foot Journey (2014).

Berry yogurt with added grapes sounds extra fine to me...and never trust a chef's description of their own food! (The VThai is quite yummy, I'd argue). Have you seen The Menu? I wish it was a better movie, but as a chef...I f***ing loved it! Maybe my favorite film of the past ten years, for mostly subjective reasons. No accounting for taste, right?

Well...okay. Vegan Thai Pnut Etouffee. French/Creole base with the ingredients of pad thai and roasted tofu (and pnut sauce, obviously). Its *completely* something I made up. It only sells okay, but several regulars freak out for it. I often fry an egg for on top when I'm opening the restaurant. (We dont serve eggs, fyi. Just have em for cornbread.)

Me too, Echo! Dont know if this is interesting, but: the stuff inside RP's isnt legally pnut butter. Its pnut sauce, which is pnut butter + extra pnut oil + confectionary sugar. SO its both sweeter AND more savory. (I use it in one dish at my restaurant, 's why I know. Far as I know: Not sold in stores...I have to buy 30 lbs of it at a go. And then I take some home, cause, DAMN its tasty...and a diabetic bomb, likely.)

Big shout out and virtual hug to Jason. I am so sorry you lost your co-pilot. I understand how that feels. I lost mine a few years ago and I had him for 16 years. But I know he is up in that big old puppy park in the sky sniffing all the smells and running around. I am sure he is welcoming your best buddy and they are having the best of times right now. :) Take heart my friend, we are all here with you.

wyrm, you just reminded me. Some(?) comedian, years ago, mentioned being grossed out by the ET design - saying that if he saw that on the side of the road he'd instinctively swerve to hit it because it needs to die. 😳🤗 Wish I could recall who did that bit.

Funny that in the script they use M&Ms, but the Mars Company (owner of MM's... ironic, that) said "hell, na." Didn't want their product associated with a weird alien. Reese's were like, "😎". Sales of Reese's Pieces quadrupled after the flick came out.

in some ways, i think the scientist gets a bad rap if you think of the ramifications of if this actually happened. there would be a very good chance of what happened when Europeans first came to South America or Africa [below the Shara] the Indians got exposed to smallpox and the Europeans got exposed to syphilis in South America. and the average life span of a European in Africa was less than 1 year due to tropical sicknesses like malaria prior to like 1820 when quinine was discovered. people are panicky creatures.

wyrm, I too was scared of this as a kid. (mostly by the scientists, they were scary!) But...if you get *ahem* elevated enough you should be just fine. :) You will definitely have a different experience than you did as a kid.

I have a feeling there will be a lot of tears in this one. My guess is that he's going to say it was either beautiful or magical. Possibly that he hoped that ET would come back in a sequel to slaughter all the scientists and then teabag 'em.
