For anyone coming late to this, the iTunes version (at least where I live) is utter garbage. Interlaced 1080p or something, but it suffers digitally. I picked up a 4K release from Germany months ago, and it's probably available elsewhere now in 4K as well. It's a pretty good disc, but the colours are a bit flat IMO.

FYI- the other kickboxer in the movie, the guy in the first fight named Suan Paredes, is played by Michel Qissi, who is the actor who plays Tong Po in Kickboxer. He's clearly not Asian either (he's Moroccan-Belgian) and had to wear prosthetics to look the part.

Great reaction. This is definitely youtube worthy lol. Man I can't believe after all these years of seeing this great film, that I still love it more everytime. JL loves Muay Thai...?? Now, Kickboxer he must see haha

There actually weren't a lot of real fighters in the movie. Most of the extras consisted of dancers. If the Kumite was real though, 'Paco', the kickboxer in the pink shorts played by Paulo Tocha, would have killed them all. He's a legit Muay Thai champion, the first Westerner (aka 'white') fighter the Thai people accepted as one of their own.

glade someone picked this it was on my list but down the road a ways, now that JL has van damme , he just needs to see Steven Seigal something like under siege, and Chuck Norris something like lone wolf McQuade. people that were martial artist 1st and then OK actors second.
