I frequently suggest it (fat lot of good that does.) Also MC is the <i>only</i> film for which I suggest watching the trailer first as it's so damned hard to keep up with the dialog and the characters. Trailer purposely gives you a handle on who is who.

Before any 'wtfs' - tis worth noting the Coens have done this consistently. Blood Simple is a mashing together of Hitchcock. Millers Crossing is a few Dashiell Hammett novels sequeled. O Brother is the Odyssey. The Big Lebowski is The Big Sleep by Chandler. And etc.
