Re your smoke collection system, if you're going to do multiple spots, then I'd recommend installing blast gates on hard pipes, and then soft pipes from the gates to wherever you need them.. That's what most wood shops use for their centralized dust collection systems. Example link in comment. No clue if comments allow links.
