He sounds unwell. A bit narcissistic, in the way he talks himself up so much and the word salad and given the history of DV. But maybe it's more like psychosis. Typical actor 😜

When he was going on about this element/color/tone thing, I was reminded of an exhibit about mass spectrometry in a science museum I used to go to as a kid. Basically, you push a button and it showed you colored lines and explained that depending on what you're analyzing, you can pick out different substances in the sample based on those lines. I'm wondering if maybe Terrence saw something like that and that was how he got from elements to colors. Then for colors to sounds, it seems like the jump could have been as simple as "they both have wavelengths".
