Midsummer Q & A
🕑 Added 2024-07-27 15:41:53 +0000 UTCMorning folks! thanks to all who called in last night and for your wonderful games! Sorry I was a stinker and boycotted Grizz or Sizz. Childish behavior! It was a fine game!
I like the zoomer games over our own board games, but it was a fun night all around. sorry we couldn't get to all of you, but hold on to them and we'll try and get them in next time.
I'm off to the sewage stricken coast of California for a beach day with the family, so I'm opening up this post to QUESTIONS from you! I'll let them pile up over the weekend and get back to you by the end of Sunday.
Oh and if you're looking to goose some algorithms, An Evening With Tim Heidecker is now up on Hulu! Give it a stream!

Just keep making physixal records. Vivaldi died an unpopular composer.
Devon Summers
I got genuinely excited to see Uncle Phil in here.
Devon Summers
Do you think you'll ever get Conan on the show?
Joel
My long running theory is that all the alcohol in his blood prevented the Thing from taking him over. If you watch again he is often drinking/has booze in his hands for a lot of the movie. And at the start when he loses chess to the computer he pours his drink into it to break it, which i see as a metaphor for the Alcohol in the blood not being compatible with The Thing.
WL
The fans would definitely revolt but it would make for a funny show
Des L
You have a very loose definition of ‘great’ lol.
SpongeBob Marley
Can you release the Gary Busey video/story as a Patreon exclusive?
KD
Don’t be a pedant or Tim won’t play anymore lol
SpongeBob Marley
I thought you didn’t do favorites, Tim 🤨
Z
having adam on would be pretty wild, idk how it would be received by the community lol
Stu Walker
Vic needs to see Professor Toto
Stu Walker
Seems like a Vic’s Got a New Guy segment
TrashVHS
You said once that y'all professionally filmed (all? Of) the Tim and Eric tours but that they never hit as hard as you wanted on playback. Have you considered repackaging them as a watchalong or best of etc? Would love to see all those someday as there was only 1 tour that made it near me.
Danny Lopez
Have you or have you considered producing other musical artist's work?
Pantz
Hey when is the awesome show reunion tour?
Mary-Anne McTrowe
as my knockoff TGTTM t-shirt says, “RAT ON!”
WL
Any chance of the great Adam Friedland joining the show? Also did you listen to Maron's talk with Trey Anastasio?
lilula9
+ fashionable suits??? 🤯 I'm gonna need the rest of today to process this...thanks 🙃. Hope you had good beach time!
Tim Heidecker
many many breaks.
Maslow
The trial is my favorite thing you’ve ever done. It feels so authentic and smooth. I always wonder if there were many breaks of character or multiple takes necessary, especially during your outbursts.
Melissa
T have you seen Hud? I saw it for the first time recently, it's amazing and I think about it a lot
James Frowen
Any plans to come over to England again?? Loving your work, it’s very funny. Cheers
Jeff Stock
No question, just wanted to say thanks for keeping me entertained during a long road trip from Toronto area to Quebec City area this weekend.
Jim Schroeder
Yes! So amazing. To this day I get weird looks from my family for randomly saying “belly full of toes.”
Tim Heidecker
yes. on our Flag Means Death, an extra kept telling me and Claudia how good he was at impressions. We asked to see one and he did the very worst Robert DeNiro I've ever seen.
Tim Heidecker
I'm a big fan of walking. I'll do a 45 brisk walk and it always does wonders for my mood and creativity
Tim Heidecker
a lot of contenders but I think I'm most proud of the scene between Bob and M. Emmett Walsh. That was a small little triumph in my mind
Jim Schroeder
Which Bedtime Stories episode are you most proud of?
ToddUmptious
Sounds warm and cozy, excited to hear this new record 💕
Cody Hamm
Zeppelin will probably run it, but Thin Lizzy is awesome. Peace. I’m finna to call the bot bed botline 😂👍
Cody Hamm
What’s your opinion about rock”n”roll? I feel like a lot of people make it about getting the led out and forget about what came before. Fuck Beatles v the stones. Game night come up Zeppelin vs Thin Lizzy. Name that song.
catsey
do you have any advice for calming down / regulating emotions? i know you've spoken about trying meditation in the past and was wondering if you had any particular advice! hope you're well!
BenBadLovin'
Sweet! The original 6.4 = make out sounds kinda like John Travolta from Grease, to me
Jamie Babs
As someone who does extra work in movies and tv in Massachusetts (i love it!) I’ve always wanted to ask you on the zoom if you have any funny stores about extras. If you have any I’ll work up the courage to call in and re ask and give ya time to remember some if you have any fun ones haha
My Boot
Have you seen the trailer for the new Bob Dylan biopic? What’s your thoughts on it if so? Looks ripe for goofin’ on.

Tim Heidecker
yes. love that one
Tim Heidecker
my mom is a great example of a former republican who despises trump and will probably be fine with voting for Kamala.
Tim Heidecker
pass. not happening
Tim Heidecker
i'd hate to only have one of those things to do!
Tim Heidecker
i think you gotta build an audience first and i don't know if its conducive for a band, with a monthly subscription model.
Tim Heidecker
that'd be fun
Tim Heidecker
will discuss when the record comes out
Tim Heidecker
that's correct. i don't follow it but i sure did when i was a kid!
Tim Heidecker
Kenny Rogers Roasters
Tim Heidecker
no but i'll check it out!
Tim Heidecker
we didn't have scenes together but hung out a couple of times. he's a great guy!
Toby Poole
If you’re afraid of playing in West Virginia- don’t be! There’s a great venue in Huntington, WV called The Loud where you would certainly get a great crowd. College town. Big on music. Worth a look. We’d love to have you and the Very Good Band here someday.
Tim Heidecker
i'll talk a lot more about that when the record comes out. hope to have a little listening party with all of you
Tim Heidecker
lately my records don't have a ton of stems as it's a lot of the band playing live with a lot of bleed.
Tim Heidecker
was a surprise to me! But i've known them as a couple for a long time now
Tim Heidecker
very good question, but i love most genres of movies. 2001 Is my favorite sci fi movie, or star trek 2... or Interstellar.... The Natural or Moneyball is my favorite sports movie... The Shining is my favorite horror movie. Lost in America is my favorite comedy. I've been watching a lot of westerns lately and i like most of them! Singin In The Rain is my favorite musical... Goodfellas is my favorite Gangster Movie... iyou know there are a lot of great movies!
Toby Poole
I am more than happy with OHL celebrating TGTTM. Thats very exciting!
Tim Heidecker
I don't see that happening.
Tim Heidecker
sure
Tim Heidecker
it's been a while but I went to the Vegas show and I was extremely moving and great
Tim Heidecker
Live at Kevin's should come out by the end of the year! i don't think Compound will come back
Tim Heidecker
no golf for me. I haven't played tennis in a while. but when it cools down i gotta do it
Tim Heidecker
i like those guys and we tried getting something together but it fell through. one day!
Tim Heidecker
I tried the translucents but they're not for me. but i wear them as my character in Shadows...
Tim Heidecker
i think we'll try to get some kind of TGTTM reunion on the Office Hours in the fall. some other projects that are very vague and "not real" yet in any way. you'll know when they get more serious!
Tim Heidecker
i haven't reread a book in a long time. there are too many books I haven't read!
Tim Heidecker
Midwest all the way... Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis - i love being in those cities.
Tim Heidecker
nope but will add to my list. i think the other boys are into Gary Wilson
Tim Heidecker
i remember a lot of my dreams - but not for long
Tim Heidecker
the fly was down for the second show on purpose and we edited to so it was down some of the time.
Tim Heidecker
no plans for UK at the moment. I already have Perry Shall working on something. put please share your art with us in the DMs!
Matt Andrews
Hi there, it’s Mandrews. My wife asked me to ask you what are some books that you’ve read over and over again that you really enjoy.
Toby Poole
Is there anything “Tim and Eric” in the works? Something to celebrate the TGTTM anniversary?
scottr
Tim can you name a few cities that you’ve especially and consistently enjoyed visiting?
BenBadLovin'
Love you Holy Trinity and clan! I'm wondering have any of you listened to Gary Wilson or Sounds of Isha?? Been getting into a lot of new music and curious on your thoughts. Wonderful game night guys, thank you🥳😘
Carol
Are you a person who remembers your dreams when you wake up? Have you ever had a dream that inspired a creative idea or a song?
Clif Darnell
Beef House is decent but MOONBASE8 Is a masterpiece. We need a season 2 of MOONBASE8 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🤞 I swear I have watched those 6 episodes over 20 times without question. I love everything Tim Heidecker but MOONBASE8 is even better than his work on Eastbound & Down season 4!!
Clif Darnell
The stand up is almost good as it was live in Nashville!! Just gotta know if you knew your fly was down or was that a legit gaff? Either way pure friggin gold my friend!!
Shane Cooper
Pure gold
Joss Humberstone
How would I go about getting the chance to design a poster for a tour date on your inevitable Slipping Away tour? (any chance the record would bring you and the very good band to the UK again?) P&L!
Michael McDonnell
What make/model are your glasses Tim? They’re really nice.
catsey
are you familiar with who jeremy fragrance is? i sense you would be deeply intrigued by this man https://youtu.be/OpBKjD9cMIY this may be a good starting point
lilula9
🎶Game night! There’re more games to play Here’s to more nights on the way~!🎶 Tim, you’re just human. And also part of a trio/quad that can balance you out, so you be you. Happy you’re catching up with us like this. My questions will deepen as you keep reading to hopefully fit your varying energy levels. 1) Have you ever thought of wearing translucent frames like your fashionable buddies Eric, Doug, and Vic? (I think Fred did at one time, too) 2) How was it like working with Eric again for the CeraVe commercial? (As easy as a 4 when riding a bike, maybe?) 3) What made you want to act–to inhabit a character, to play in an imaginary universe?
BITKORN
Watched any good westerns lately?
mike
I thought it was interesting when Fred Armisen said that your office idea board system inspired his own process on Portlandia. Anything more you want to share on what he saw? How do you track ideas / keep notes?
Shane Cooper
I'm trying to convince a friend that the 1996 Sean Connery film 'The Rock' is an unofficial 007 film. Tim, how can I sway his opinion towards acceptance of the truth?
Bryan Hamill
Will Beef House ever be back online? I need my beef boys
Beev
Which Beatle would you least want to meet and or hang out with?
Jim D.
Hey T. I loved the live version of "Future is uncertain" you recently put out. Can you tell us any more about the Live At Kevin's session? If I can get two questions in, can you speak to the possibility of another season of The Compound? Peace and love.
Adam Gutman
How bad could it be? Not gonna win an Oscar but will be probably be entertaining and get some young kids into his music. What’s wrong with that
Adam Gutman
Tim, how’s the tennis/squash going? Think you will ever get into golf?
Adam Gutman
John George rings Paul
Jenny Schmidt
i highly recommend the audiobook

I just got AI to spew this out for me. For the right amount of money, would you do it? Falling Down (2025 Reboot) In a bustling, modern-day Los Angeles, William "D-Fens" Foster, a disillusioned ex-teacher and tech worker, reaches his breaking point. Laid off due to corporate downsizing and facing mounting personal and societal frustrations, William embarks on a transformative journey across the city. William’s journey begins in a peaceful protest for workers' rights, where he is inspired by the passionate speeches and the solidarity among the diverse crowd. However, as the protest is dispersed by aggressive police tactics, William is caught up in the chaos and forced to flee. His path through the city becomes a series of encounters with various social injustices, from housing inequality and homelessness to environmental degradation and corporate greed. Along the way, William meets a series of individuals who open his eyes to the systemic issues plaguing society. A homeless veteran teaches him about the failures of the social safety net, an immigrant activist reveals the struggles of undocumented workers, and a young climate activist shows him the urgency of the environmental crisis. Each encounter deepens William's understanding and compassion, transforming his frustration into a radical commitment to change. As William's journey nears its climax, he joins forces with a grassroots organization dedicated to social justice. Together, they stage a dramatic, non-violent demonstration that captures the city's attention and sparks a wider movement. The film concludes with William standing on the steps of City Hall, addressing a massive crowd with a message of hope, solidarity, and the power of collective action. In this reboot, "Falling Down" becomes a story of awakening and empowerment, showcasing the potential for radical, compassionate activism to challenge and transform societal injustices.
Justin Griffith
Tim have you ever listened to The Beatles LOVE album? If so what did you think of the mashups and the tracks they used? I’ve never really heard you talk about that album, I know it’s not an actual Beatles album but I enjoyed the way it was done and the flow of it all. The Vegas show was really cool too! Thanks! RIP The Mirage
David Natkin
Any chance of getting the guys from Red Letter Media on OHL? And/or what about being a guest on one of their BoTW episodes? Thank you and enjoy your weekend, cheers!
Viggy!
Rank the Beatles in order of who’d have the best chance of fighting off a wild boar
Mary-Anne McTrowe
no hunks!
Steezy
Did you and Anthony Atamanuik spend any time together shooting Shadows? Feels like y'all have a very similar sensibility - he'd be a great OHL guest!
Mary-Anne McTrowe
can you please ask Vic when he will release a new album? with peace and love, I’ve had enough from you and Dougg!
Josh Hunt
Phew.. I had a moment there. Wrong David Mitchell!
Matt M.
When will Vic finish the Joel Hole?
Matt M.
Good Point Phil. I’m planning on releasing my first through third albums right before the ol’ dirt nap.
Matt M.
I love this idea. I’d be good with an audio podcast going through all the Awesome Show songs. But this would be even better.
Mary Newman
Cool guys only...
🖤Cassie🖤
First I need to say I love well’s running dry! Got it on repeat. It’s a beautiful song. Can’t wait for the new album. I was wondering what were some of your influences for the new album or in general? Have a good day! ✌️&❤️
ToddUmptious
Have you ever considered releasing the stems of a song or even an entire album session for the community to have their wherewithal with? I know Skrillex is just dying to get his hands on those licks in a pure and RAW format.
ToddUmptious
I don't think he'll want to step on Andy Kaufman's toes too much but I'd love to see him be the hype man of a guy who can't wrestle.
Charlie Van Stee
BruleTube interview show could be great
Brian Schafer
Tim were you aware of the secret wedding of two of the funniest people around? Fred Armisen and Riki Lindholme??
KD
Tim, what’s your favorite film but from a film genre you don’t generally enjoy?
Josh Rachbach
Huckabee president
Tony Quinn
Will Tim and Gelman ever have lunch again?
Micha
tim, looking forward to the new album. oh no incoming process question…anything in particular spur the songs or the headspace of the new album like a book, movie, album, artist, etc?
TheReal007
Good point Phil lol. I appreciate your on point answer my friend.
Tim
Good afternoon Tim, from Bristol in England. Do you have any thoughts on the wild and wacky world of WRESTLING? Gotta say I think you’d be a HIT if you got involved, perhaps as the loudmouth manager of a silent strongman.
Tony Quinn
What's your favourite episode of Seinfeld?
TheReal007
Thank you for your answer. I appreciate it. Looking forward to seeing you in Charlottesville later in the year.
Melissa
Do you ever listen to Townes van Zandt? He's my all time favorite. Some of the saddest country you'll ever hear.
Tim Heidecker
Really! Ok!
Karsten Marshall-Otto
Yes capn!
Tim Heidecker
Not having them earlier!
Tim Heidecker
George Jones Hank Williams and Waylon Jennings would probably be my top 3. Full county record? No. But I love to dip in thanks to Connor!
Matt B.
The pounding.
Tim Heidecker
I haven’t heard anything
CT James
How ya doin Tim? I very much share the same love for classic/alt/indie rock as you and all the great singer-songwriters too, but over the last few years have really gone down the jazz rabbit hole. Is there any jazz you're a big fan of? I really love the cosmic sounding stuff of the Coltranes and Pharoah Sanders, as well as more current players like Jeff Parker, Makaya McCraven, Sam Gendel, Sam Wilkes, and the rest of that scene. The recently released album Hardy Boys by Gendel and Emil Mosseri is an absolute stunner, FYI. Enjoy your day!
Peter Laws
Are you familiar with the ultra MAGA pastor Shane Vaughn who also has an alter ego called Professor Toto, who gives intense lectures on politics? I’m just asking because his amazing 2min intro video looks like it was made by the Decker vs Dracula team: https://youtu.be/OlGB2ltetHs?si=OYPDnhkLZzPPIRRs
Josh
Hi Tim! Loved Fired on Mars when it came out… any idea whether a Season 2 is possible?
JK47
Have you read any David Mitchell? He’s got this book Utopia Avenue and it would be riiight up your (or Rock n’ Roll Gary’s) alley!
Melissa
Who are some of your favorite country music artists? And also do you ever think about doing a country album? I love the slide guitar in the new song so much.
Karsten Marshall-Otto
Timtofer- what's your top 5 tips for or things you'd do differently when you had kids?
Knowlton Bourne
I know you hate hypotheticals but if you had to pick only one of your projects (album, show, comedy special, podcast, etc) to live on which would you choose?
Jake Cook
yo Tim! do you think Patreon is a good and viable way for indie artists/musicians to get paid for their stuff?
Bort Simpson
Tim I always wondered why you never worked with Paul F Tompkins, you have so many comedic friends in common. That’s all love your work.
Tim Heidecker
Honestly probably not: we tried to a few times and it just kind of spun wheels and petered out. We’re all still close but seems impossible to coordinate schedules plus the tv landscape is really depressing now and I don’t even know where it could even live these days!
Jamie Babs
Would you ever consider doing more watch alongs, a Patreon exclusive, but with you, Eric and John C Reilly’s commentary on Brule? That would be a dream of mine to see!
Charlie Van Stee
Is there ever any talk about bringing Steve Brule back in some capacity?
Dustin Moran
Tim should have played the role of Charlie Sexton. I can see it.
Chase
PLEASE DO THIS! Awesome Show changed my life
Tim Heidecker
It was almost all material I had done in clubs before! As far as i remember
Tim Heidecker
No but forever on my list
jason noice
Oh, that would be great!! Would love to hear him speak on his work and with his boss/collaborator
Tim Heidecker
When I’m not busy there’s a ton of free time and even when I’m busy there’s often a lot waiting around. My kids are so self sufficient too so I may sneak in a show or something when they are watching their own thing.
Phil Braun
If you start your career at my age, there is no “old stuff” - it’s only “new stuff”, and then you pass away not long after.
Tim Heidecker
Yes we played pickle ball a lot up there and directed most of my episodes. He was such a good dude. I liked him a lot
Ellie Hajdu
Hey Tim! Ellie here🌼 An Evening with Tim Heidecker- so great. Curious how much of it was planned out and how much of it is kinda just on the spot? Thank you!
Kurt Maine
I've heard you mention playing Pickleball when you go up to film Shadows. Any chance you've gotten out on the court with Kyle Newacheck of Workaholics fame (also directs some eps of Shadows)? I know he's a big-time Pickleballer.
DogFaceGirl
Steve Healt
Do you think Kurt Russell was a Thing the whole time?
Jared
Ever chase a good tequila with some fresh pineapple? Nectar of the gods, I tell you what.
Melissa
Give us the Timmy tea, T!
Bill
Can we get another WOHL Morning Madness?
Tim Heidecker
i prefer to keep my baseball love purely recreational.
Tim Heidecker
no i'll check it out
Tim Heidecker
yes that'd be fun!
Tim Heidecker
sure, sometimes. it reminds me of when i first met Randy Newman and told him I loved his old records and he said 'you should check out my new ones' but people are gonna love what they love.
Eric Wiley
Have you read Blood Meridian? If so what do you think of it?
Brandon Fasse
Thought I remembered that. Love the inclusion of the parents on the show. Whole Triune Trinity comes from good stock.
EKB
Would you ever do a spinoff episode/Zoom event just for baseball chitchat?
Dustin Moran
They’re pretty good, they get close. Easier to tote around than yer Princeton. Good for in-ear monitoring too… stereo. Something to consider for the yet to be announced world tour!
CB
Ever losten to Mick Taylor's solo album? The singing makes me miss Jagger but (unsurprisingly) the guitar is beautiful
Caleb
Masked and anonymous too
Luke Brown
Watch the most recent episode with Doug’s mom, she ‘s a Trump fan
Tim Heidecker
didnt get tickets because i'm not a fan of the HOllywood bowl. thoughts on CU above!
Brandon Fasse
Does any member of the Trinity have conservative/Trump parents? Might be wrong here but I think i’ve gathered that Doug may.
Keith Salowich
A couple weeks ago Doug's end-of-ep rec was rewatching I Think You Should Leave and you mentioned it'd be fun to rewatch T&E, too. Would you consider doing commentary-ed episode rewatches with Doug, like you did with Eric a while back on some of the specials?
Tim Heidecker
nope
TheReal007
With tim and eric ending 14 years ago, and you having a successful podcast, acting gigs and going on 8 music albums. Does it sometimes get to you that you are still known for Tim and Eric and not necessarily your successful music and solo project career?
Tim Heidecker
FUCK! I was gonna talk about it at game night. It looks like a real cookie cutter musical biopic, like outtakes from "Walk The Line" which makes me very suspicious. Timmy seems fine, but i find him to be a dud on the screen usually and I have some first hand accounts of him being a real turd in real life. I hope it's either very good or very bad. but i'm expecting it to be depressingly fine and forgettable. I'd watch Scorseses' No Direction Home and Rolling Thunder Review and Todd Hanye's I'm Not There if interested in Bob on Film.
Dustin Moran
I’m Excited for the new album!
kincheon
If you were sentenced to death, what would you request to have for your last meal?
Carol A Dukes
No question, but thanks for the belly laughs last night.
Dustin Moran
Tim, back to last summer’s convo with Mark Maron about guitar amps… Have you tried any emulator pedals like Strymon Iridium or the UAFX Dream 65?
Chase
Tim when are you playing a full two hour Very Good Band show in Nashville and can I play “Nothing” with you on stage next time? I’m so hype for the new album!
Caleb
Thoughts on a complete unknown and did you get your ticket for bob and willie wednesday at the bowl?
zoe c
need your thoughts on a complete unknown!!
