Ahh Doug that basketball court is literally minutes away from the Jim Carter Presidential library where the new OHL tape archive is

Phil Braun

I thought I heard you say that

Douggpound

Never said that but thank you

RyAlbert

Phil Braun

love the behind the scenes! also thanks for the earploug ploug, Doug. I noticed in a post-OHL pic that you tried out the metal can ones. I use those since it’s free. kind of strange how they screw on and off while dangling. glad you found a case that works for you. (fun fact: I actually got mine for Two Tims after recently going to two big concerts. My hearing really shows my concert history 😣)

An amazing reaction recap from the great Uncle Phil himself!! Those seasoned eyes and ears know what they’re talking about.

Melissa

This warms my heart so much

Shane Cooper

Ok now I want a regular Uncle Phil blog.

My first day in Atlanta I witnessed a robbery in an alley. Two guys in an SUV apparently stole a young guy's phone, and the victim had a skateboard and wacked their suv with it as they drove away.

Thank you Doug for representing Earplug Gang. It's one of those "you won't know until it's probably too late" spooky harm reduction things that's often difficult to talk about.

Dan

I cannot believe Bubba the Love Sponge is still around

Christen Platzer

Mad props for the ear plugs plug! I always carry a pair with me. You never know when you're going to need them.

Whoops! I wasn't done!... Almost done though. I was going to add too that before the show, i was seated next to a group clearly excited to see Eric. I overheard a comment where one made a comment that "the opener wasn't going to be any good"....now, I don't know if they *knew* who was opening, or if they were making a general assumption that it wouldn't be "good"..? I was tempted to say something back, but decided to keep my mouth shut. Needless to say, I can confirm that all three of them were laughing like crazy during Doug's set. Either Doug won them over, or more likely, the one guy who said this didn't know what the hell he was talking about, because that guy laughed too. I was going to simply wrap this up and say if you have a chance to catch him on the last leg, of course do so! Eric Andre is of course over the top - he's like Gallagher but funnier, less racist, and crazier! He tipped over trash cans, took mixed drinks off the bar and threw them everywhere...nuts. But A+ from our man Doug Lussenhop. Big thanks again to Doug, JP, (and Major Entertainer working behind the scenes) for being great guys in what are often awkward encounters (hopefully it wasn't too bad)!

Phil's Atlanta Show Blog: I decided to write this since (as you can tell) I was, in fact, at the Atlanta show that featured Doug with Eric Andre headlining, and since Doug kind of "unofficially" suggested I write about it and that he "like to read things where people say nice things about me" (Doug said this to me - he'll deny this, but it actually did happen). I will confirm my earlier pronouncement that Doug really was outstanding in his opening performance. I can't imagine anyone reading this hasn't seen Doug perform as "DJ Douggpound", but in case someone has not I'd liken Doug's set to Stephen Wright-style observations and one-liners but much more absurd, and wrapped within a DJ set...imagine being at a club where the DJ is more interested in telling jokes than playing music. Lots of good material, which we expect from Doug, but Doug was at the top of his game with the physical humor as well. The physical aspect primarily revolves around two running gags that are staples to a DJ Douggpound set. The first, and maybe more subtle, are Doug's headphones he wears. They are constantly put on, taken off, over one ear, sometimes both ears....always with urgency to make sure DJ Doug "matches the beat", or "tweaks with his mix" or whatever he's pretending to be doing. I thought his Atlanta performance with perfection, where Doug seemed even more animated with the headphones than he normally might be but working them with perfect comedic timing. The second one is Doug using his microphone/cord as a whip. This one always kills me - I don't know if this was new or old material or a mixture of both, but it's always funny to me. Seemed like he had a couple of new variations with it that made me laugh (I won't spoil the jokes here by describing them).

Ah, brother next time you're in ATL please let us reco some food, it's got some bangers. Lil 5 is not the place to go for anything other than greasy burgs and burritos and see the ghosts of american apparel v-necks past. Apologies sir.

Mary Newman

Nice travelog, keep having a great time!
