Jim Taylor aka Huff The Talbot

Sadly, yes.

Nico Fish

Moshe again?

Nick Julian

Vic's new guy is not billy ray cyrus?

William Riley

I like him a lot. Endless Honeymoon podcast is in my weekly rotation. Breezy and funny.

Brian Crews

Tobacco City is great! Have ‘em on!

Matthew Carrico

I love how surly Tim gets anytime he is remote. Thank you Tim.

Gabby

Vic should check out Goodall’s country kitchen for his next guy- he’s right up there with Tony B, island wide realty 😂

Amber💖

I love when Tim heckles Hollywood folks. Warms my heart 💖

Matt Dekker

I used to love watching Jeopardy (there was a site where you could watch old episodes for free), partially because I'm pretty good with trivia myself, and partially just to admire how quickly some people can figure out the answers. I especially enjoy the questions dealing with rhyming schemes and stuff like that. Those are often fun because I think anyone could figure out the answers if given enough time, so the goal is to try to "get" them as fast as possible, and see if you can beat the contestants.

jimi wiz

Where do we find this rec room?

Martin Fleet

And on that Mitchell and web show they do a really funny paradox of a quiz show called numberwang

Charles Frost

I think it’s Le Grand Sud-Est - 1979-1986

Which episode has Tim and Vic at the Hilton?

rainbowdark

GET ON THE DISCORD! we're lonely

DeVaun

Tim talking about doing acid was a PEAK moment for Office Hours HBD 🎉

Maria Zamansky

What was that French compilation recommendation?

tuskfan12

toronto mention had me thinking you guys should get nirvanna the band on... either (or both) of them would b great guests

Kevin S.

You still have to have a beginning, middle, and end. If it is too loose then what? Just on some tangent and then the feed goes dark? Gotta be able to say good bye and wrap it up. It’s more akin to a talk show than anything. It’s the modern version of cable access

somberlobster

I’ve now watched 3 episodes of Only Connect and I’m late for work! I love it! Thanks Tim!

Happy birthday, Mr. Heicker.

Count Crackula

He's recently claimed that the Jan 6 riots were a false flag. Prior to that, his show was a breeding ground of COVID-19 conspiracy theories--straight up having a quack on his show to punch up his nonsense. He also claimed (a few years ago--his stance may have changed), that men can't be raped. He's also friends with, and has had regularly on his show, Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro--far-right, reactionary bigots who get treated with kid gloves and are allowed to spew whatever nonsense they want. Rogan's own anti-woke/anti-SJW schtick should be enough to give anyone pause and scrutinize his creepy relationships. I typed up a far, far longer answer, but I don't feel it's the time and place for it. To sum it up: he's a useful idiot who is cooed by any contrarian stance that appeals to his libertarian-brained views. And that leads to platforming a host of problematic people with incredibly problematic views.

Inspired by some of what moshe was talking about with language between children, I recommend the documentary “Poto and Cabengo” about identical twins who invented a language as children. One of my favorites.

jeff s

Happy people are more aware of testing nowadays, but it still needs to be talked about more. I have friends that give their kids tests for fentanyl because they know they are experimenting with drugs. It’s important.

Ian Davidson

Marcus is the man!

WL

Very cool to see DJ Harrison with the trinity. Everyone here should check out his band Buicher Brown, the guy is a legend.

lilula9

To the people who are put off by Tim's heckling: Are we watching the same show?? I've only watched 17 episodes of OHL in my whole life and even ~I~ can tell that testy Tim is part of the diverse tapestry that is OHL’s humor. I present to you Exhibit A: Mark Proksch. But I’ll let it slide if you’re doing a bit since Tim might be biting at the bit to chomp into all of that for his birthday blog post. If so, then: Great Job! 🍝 (Also for more threads about OHL’s humor, come join the OHL Discord ✨)

Connor Corcoran

Only Connect is incredible, a lot of UK/Euro centric content obviously, but it is fascinating watching people figure some of that stuff out. Everyone once in a while there'll be an easy US sports question that stumps all the contestants that makes you feel better.

Lyndon Beckner

Vic declined to mention Robin's wife's name is Robin.

westend_td

That episode with Dr. Sex is my all time favourite! Also, the one where Tim and Vic are at the Hilton in Medford. Something about Tim being remote just cranks it up a notch. I always look forward to them.

Raymond Steele

There is something about it that creates magic. Tim calling in from NYC was an all timer. I go back to it a lot. Tim and Doug doing the Simon and Garfunkel bit with Garf going to Paul Simon’s wedding makes me cry.

Scott

Anyone else think Moshe looked he was dressed as a toddler

ToddUmptious

No that's just the time lag of calling in via webcam, which itself is infuriating XD which Tim played off as not being able to control the room. You get the same awkwardness from zoomers, always a second off, but this show exists on awkwardness.

ToddUmptious

Anyone who can block and direct this madness each week should be commended 07 Perhaps an OHL medal ceremony is in order? Medals for the movers and shakers and medals for the ever stun-locked, medals for all!

Goose

I think it was the right move though! I’m sure it was just parallel thinking but Doug would definitely be miffed if he did one of his great segments and another show did the same thing days later

Genevieve

LETS GO it’s about time we have something for the girls

Paco Slingscock

Big fan of Vic’s new guy

abi harding

CMAT is incredible, she'd blow the boys AWAYYYYY i adore stay for something

abi harding

Visited the building where the Wannsee Conference took place on a history trip and I dont believe in *energies* or anything like that but it was like the building had a truly like. Evil feeling to it. Probably because we all knew what happened there, but pure sense of dread upon arrival. It's been turned into a museum / education centre now, it's a place that creates a lot of emotion definitely.

Kevin

Putting the kibosh on Doug's game to review a movie was a bold move

Painthuffer2

He's the world's most credulous dummy and he just so happens to have one of the biggest platforms in the world. So that means, thanks to him, hateful dipshits continue to have unprecedented reach to spew their garbage. And he just sits there and nods.

Eric Boman

I work in an office, but we recently did CPR training. I was impressed the folks doing the training also highlighted the toxic drug crisis, the importance of testing, recognizing an overdose, and what to do. Even if you don't use, it's good to know. You could save a life!

Genevieve

irst time commenting- a great rec I have is an Irish artist named CMAT. Seeing her in Brooklyn this spring. She has a new album out and it’s sensational and she’s electric on stage.Even if you’re not a fan her music- her live shows are unreal. My top picks off the album are Can’t Make Up My Mind and Torn Apart. Her first album is also great . My dream is one day she performs on the pod. It’s a long shot but I’m putting it out there!

Matt James

REC: I feel like immigrant/ 2nd gen stories arent told enough and there is some beautiful stuff for "Late Bloomer" with famous youtuber Jus Reign. Similar to 'Rami', 'master of none', (in terms of 1st and 2nd gen immigration stores) etc; its truely wonderflul. I feel like this will fly under the radar for a bunch of people that might otherwise love it. I'm a white dude but im in toronto and its pretty damn diverse. A lot of not-white friends i guess. And theres some universal themes of course. But check it out, everyone, "Late Bloomer" - Jus Reign. TIM im curious what you thought of Toronto. And was your travel / rides paid for and did you have any awesome food and what was your fave thing. CHEERS

Beeman

Can’t speak for Tim obviously but imo the fact he has these right wing grifters and loons on his show where they can talk shit/ lies for hours with any push back at all is reason enough not to like him. That and he is close friends with really bad people - Brian Callen, Chis Delia to name but a few

Daniel Miller

Peace and love Vic. You’re still one of the sharpest, funniest, and most creative people I’ve ever known. Your drops always accentuate and uplift the comedy on OHL

westend_td

I don't know what happens to the crew when Tim zooms in remotely, but I always find these shows to be the most entertaining! Tim is always a little loopy and his interactions with Doug are hilarious. I re-listen to these shows most often. And DJ Harrison is just amazing!

Di Drew

Shout out to the rec for Three Body Problem by Cixin Liu. Such an incredible series! I was recommended it by an artist I was working with in Beijing in 2019, and have been trying to push it to everyone I know since then. I sure hope the new Netflix series does it justice and turns more people onto it, because it really is profoundly insightful and fascinating.

Josh Hunt

This just blew my mind, thanks! Had never heard of Only Connect, but I've been a David Mitchell fan for ages

Dan

Having tim on the big screen is great. Really makes it feel more like he's there

owen

molly faded, hearing DONT STOP POP THAT PUSSY on loop, spotting a sweaty Tim. quite the scene

Nathanael Sherman

So glad to hear people talking about the toxic drug crisis and harm reduction. My partner has is one of the leads in education for the public, surrounding decriminalization and harm reduction laws in our region of British Columbia, so it’s very near and dear to our hearts. Test your drugs, friends!

Tim Heidecker

Isn’t the push and pull of different people with different personalities the point if you think about it? -Matt

Oopie Doopie

I thought it was still fun

Vic Berger IV

He’s not?????

Daniel Miller

I think he says the first thing that comes to mind without mentally fact checking first. Like when when he said Eric Bauza is the new voice of Rick and Morty

bob

the holy trinity needs a staff retreat

Andy

Love the new recommendation site! I’ve been streaming Slow Horses and Rollerskate Skinny all week.

marshy

only connect is amazing! for context, you're watching the series finale, so it's especially hard. and the show is known for being especially hard generally. the host is fantastic, too - she's from a family of 'humorists,' she's married to david mitchell (peep show, upstart crow, several sketch comedy series), and she's a world champion poker player

Brandon Jeffries

Felt like Tim seemed to be in a bad mood the majority of this episode. Whole episode felt kinda tense and not as fun and loose as usual.

Plibt

I like the show, and I've been a member for a long time. But why is Tim (and cap Carlin, thankfully now to a much lesser degree) always trying to move the show forward? Move along to what exactly? Isn't the point of the whole thing doing these non-sensical funny back and forths riffings between the people in the room? I may be out of my depth here, but I thought this was a comedy podcast, peppered with some absolutely great musical guests.

Jimjim

He's definitely douchey but why exactly is he a bad guy

Beeman

Moshe is a great guest, fits with the Trinity perfectly

Jon Hioki

I like Doug's sweater

Count Crackula

The "I can have a dialogue with people I disagree with" is kinda disingenuous here. Rogan has a massive platform and reach, so it's about selling books on this promotional tour than being virtuous. The dude isn't a good guy, so morally I find it gross. Anyways, peace and love.

rainbowdark

The imagination of Tim raving to DJ Assault will forever be in my mind. Love to hear it

owen

DJ ASSAULT AND DJ FUNK MENTIONED 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️

Jim D.

Thanks for the good times. This was an emotional rollercoaster. Great drop concert at the end.

Hekkmart

That Robin guy actually looks like Ricky Gervais with a wig on.

Journe

Moshe is so annoying

Arlo Lyle

I love Vic, but he confidently chimes in so often with information that is just not true.

Arlo Lyle

Worlds collide! It was hilarious watching everyone react to Only Connect.

Eric Boman

Bill Clinton is from Arkansas!

ToddUmptious

Nice of that Letterpress guy to call in, now I get to pitch my former workplace again! Visit the National Print Museum when you are in Dublin Tim. Cancel on Chris, he'll get it. It's in a part of the city centre everyones too lazy to walk to so no risk of getting mobbed either.

Matt Rockwell

Tim and Joe Rogan better fucking do each other’s shows this year!

Tristan Kline

I’ll comment later.
