Too late to help give a cent of advice to the guy who wants to be a lawyer, but at a good law school the first year is an intensive course in rhetoric & applied philosophy including written and oral components. But the con of law school is that school can be horribly competitive, sometimes in a low key way. Finally, being a paralegal is probably a route to find out if the law is a profession worth spending time and money to become.

The OG hard to watch F/X show before the Bear. I really think Zach went to France to learn clowning without knowing French.

Baskets is one of my favorite shows ❤️ Zach Galifianakis is one of my favorite comedians/actors. Such a great guest, if he came back I’d 100% get passed my anxiety and try calling into the show hahaha.

I think about the Christmas crypto.com arena song about once a week, it really is the worst stadium name ever

To Tom, the guy interested in law school - I'd love to have a conversation with you and offer my perspective, as someone who had never considered it until I realized at 30 how badly we need lawyers who want to do something helpful. I'm in my last semester now, so can't really speak to the long-term career experience, but feeling great about the spectrum of opportunities in front of me. Anyone know how I could get in touch with Tom? Can you help, Capt. Carlin???
Joseph Phillippi
Hey there, I actually hit this thread to try to reach out to that guy, Tom. I made a very sudden left turn to attend law school at 30, in my last semester now. I'm a big supporter of taking that plunge if you've got good reasons and can pull it off (obviously a huge commitment that many don't have the ability to make). Idk if there's DMing on here, but I'm always down to have an encouraging conversation and share my experience, so let me know if you'd wanna chat about it!

Just recall an old Activity of the Day: "Thanks for that brain, but it's not helpful right now. Bye-bye."
Christopher Laramee
ROLLERSKAYE SKINNY! that album is severely under-rated for sure, I've been on it again recently! Tim, check out the Lotus Crown one too, you'd dig.

A good pick!

What was that hard rockin’ weed hatin’ song with those kids singin’ harmonies??

Shout out to Lizzy for her Fred again recommendation, and nobody really understanding what a dance music producer is 💀 I saw him live a few months ago, and he is one of the most talented artists of his generation IMO.

damn vic's theme went hard af
Carol
so much fun! thanks for all the laughs!

To the caller who wants to go to law school. If your heart is telling you to go, especially for noble reasons, Go! I had a good career but felt unfulfilled when I was 29 and I am 41 now and so glad I went!
Chris Mathews Jr.
it could be because Scorsese never misses. one of the goats of all time.

Lizzy should fill in again but give her a keyboard.
Grant Peterson
Didn't Vic do this week's ad?
Hank Streicher
To the New Zealand couple: Yo Gabba Gabba is an amazing kids show. Mark Mothersbaugh is on it all the time and Jack Black too.

AWESOME EP, Zach is the coolest and I lovelove Lizzy. what a nice surprise! ❤️

Really really appreciate Rec Center for two reasons: -I hate music journalism/music writers and enjoy hearing what people I like are enjoying -I hate the Algorithm, I can feel the cold touch of software developers and their puffy-vest sickness on my soul

Zach Galifianakis’ laugh is my happy place. Been too long since Baskets! Thanks for a truly tremendous ep. Also my personal rec for this week is Gruff Rhys solo albums. His new one comes out this Friday and he absolutely needs to be a guest.

My fear of heights is also linked to my fear of my own intrusive thoughts!!! To the man considering immigration attorneying - I’d recommend looking for shadowing opportunities, or even volunteer opportunities at non-profits that assist in navigating that system. I’ve also considered going to law school and haven’t made up my mind yet! But every attorney I know is burnt out, so definitely don’t jump into it without feeling sure that you can commit the time, money, energy, emotion, etc. Required for years to come. Make sure you have sustainable passion. The return on investment in law school is not what it used to be.

What a head of hair Mr Zach has!
asidbrain
Honestly, with the teaser post, all signs pointed to Zach. The obvious SBTB photo, and even the blurred text. But my brain kept saying “no, he doesn’t like doing these kinds of things, (respectively)”. So was so genuinely surprised to see him on! It says a lot about himself, as well as the friendship and respect between Zach and Tim. Then toward the end when he said he liked it and would do it again I felt like was asked to the prom twice. All the best

Is Flowers of the Killer Moon a joke I’m missing?
Mig
‘flowers of the killer moon’ has to have been submitted by on cinema tim heidecker
Jay Aubrey-Herzog
Ed Wood is the best Tim Burton film! C’mon!
Matt Dekker
I think it has to do with societal norms - we're used to following certain laws and "rules," and things always happen a certain way, and we wonder what would happen if something changed. I think it's similar to the thought of "what would I do if a robber came into the bank right now?" and we imagine ourselves being a hero. We're basically just imagining the various possibilities in any given situation.
Matt Dekker
I think the "fear of the void" is pretty common for like the majority of people, so I don't think it's an indicator of some sort of mental issue. Everyone has those thoughts of "what if I just drove into the oncoming lane right now?"
Anima
We lost dancing by Fred again is amazing workout music- good call lizzy
Andrew Stanger
This was an all timer, thank you all so much

What a treat

Doug’s ad got the Zach Galafinakis wheeze of approval- that’s next-level stuff.
Tim Heidecker
My bad! Tag is reading and I out book in -Matt
Tim Heidecker
Blake Anderson did that a while back. Was really fun. I forgot to bring my iPad with the drops on it today I actually meant to. Will maybe bring next time we have a sub. -Matt

Am I allowed to say that Doug hasn't looked this good since he was dating Natasha Leggero and she dumped him over that guy because of the calculator and also because he had a big rim on his chest? Not sorry!
The Moderner
This was such a fun show. Thanks for the laughs! Love Lizzy Cooperman’s rec!
Dan Mulcahy
loved the show! Have always been wanting Zach on OHL and Lizzy is so great on the show. I loved that Zach wanted to be on regular - would love him on a game night
Dan Mulcahy
LOVE the rec center, Ariel! Aren't Reading and Book the same thing?
Dan Mulcahy
I need to look into this. I really related to that and what Tim said about heights. going up big elevators and being close to edges and balconies just thinking you could just go over the edge or get tripped.
skeletonmeat
it could be fun to set some of the guest co-hosts up w/ an (approachable) selection of drops and have them take a swing
skeletonmeat
it can be very dynamic, but it is also live tbf
Dan
Rec center looks great!
Kyle
I keep thinking the back of Vic's Elvis Costello book is Greg Gutfeld
Goose
Aka “intrusive thoughts”!
imalazycarcass
Vic you should get a mirror to put in front of Tim so you can see his face when he’s talking. That way you’re not talking to his back!
KD
HOLY S! ZATCH GAPAFINASTY!!!
Trevor Phillippi
Man the rec center rips! Thank you so much team!!!
Randy Faucheux
Holy shit, Tim! You recommended Rollerskate Skinny! They're my favorite band that no one's heard of. So criminally overlooked.
Alison Schmidt
@ariel this is great! It looks like the reading icon is there, but the book icon is missing!
James Morris
The thing Tim is talking about (jumping on the escalator, ruining a live show ) is 'Unwanted Thought Syndrome'. Maria Bamford has it as well. It sounds like it can be rough if it's really severe.
Justin Griffith
To whom it may concern: Is there any way the entire show can be louder? For some reason as loud as the show is, it’s not loud enough. It seems quieter compared to other podcasts and videos. Sorry to sound bitchy but I’m wondering if anyone else notices it
Thomas Dunleavy
Great show as always 👏
somberlobster
Zaggis Jalafanakunz!
Brian Houdlette
I was recently wondering why Zach hasn't been on the show yet.
Austin
Love the haircut
ariel klevecz
haha oh dear-- thank you for looking out. fixed!

Love the Rec Center! There is a minor typo, however: "Reccomended" should be "Recommended" 😉
Johnnee
Today's ad better be HILARIOUS!
Justin Griffith
Good job on the rec center fellas. The interface is nice and easy
