Excellent job to the both of you! I love how Jay pushes back, reminiscent of when Eric does to Tim and everything escalates. I can definitely see the make a drink, smoke a clove, stick a foot in the guest's face as "traditions" for these interview eps. Just seeing how the guest reacts (or doesn't) is hilarious.

For 20 long yrs I’ve been saying Bill Maher is Andy Rooney — smug, unfunny, cantankerous. His standup sets were so atrocious that I couldn’t watch real time w/o picturing him in his Ed Hardy tee & True Religion jeans, berating the audience for not getting his brilliant jokes. Now club random has put his shitty personality into especially stark relief for all to appreciate. The episode with Fred was pure gold. Subscribed bc I need more of this Bill in my life. It’s also kinda fun to watch Tim criticize “ironic” humor and jokes that follow the “so bad they’re good” model. I feel like being Bill in this moment gives Tim the chance to provide (kinda justified) criticism of “anti comedy” while also satirizing those who are quick to dismiss it

The range bit is so funny because that actually happened to Tim, but also is the perfect satire of Bill Mahers aggrieved harping on his home’s solar power system being stymied by CA regulations for the last few years. it’s Tim so it’s gonna be smart, and this was just that perfect level of spoof.
