When she made an attempt to scramble away, he wrapped an arm around her waist to make sure she stayed put. To take what he gave her.
“Roth,” she panted.
“You with me?” he growled.

“I’m always with you, even when I don’t want to be,” she whispered.
“This is where you belong.” She didn’t belong to her father or sisters. They didn’t deserve her. She had always belonged to him and would have remained his if she hadn’t gone to ground for a year before seeking out Maximus to get her divorce.
The familiar anger nipped at him, but he ignored it in favor of the nirvana that was just out of reach. He lured her out of her head and into her body. He didn’t stop until her eyes were glazed with desire, and she was chanting his name like a prayer. It wouldn’t take much to make her beg, but he wasn’t going to last. He needed her too badly. The second her body went rigid in orgasm, he erupted.
With his heart thundering in his ears and Jasmine sprawled bonelessly on top of him, his hand slid over her tacky skin to her round ass. Although he sensed her emotions had gone to ground that forlorn, “I don’t have anyone,” she’d said when she first woke needled him.
“You have me,” he stated.

“I have you,” she said quietly.

His grip tightened as the truth of that statement struck him. Even after she left him, even after Maximus blackmailed him, even after he saw pictures of her with other men in the media, and read her books that documented men she’d betrayed him with—if she’d reached out to him, he would have done anything in his power to help her.
He buried his face in her hair. He could set her aside now. That’s what he usually did. If he didn’t, the light sheen of sweat on their bodies would seal them together. Instead, he found himself wrapping her more securely against him, even as he silently berated himself. He despised the warmth that infused his chest.
This was dangerous. Jasmine upended his equilibrium and roused primitive instincts that were better off dormant. She disrupted the cold clarity that had gotten him to where he was today. He was taking so many risks, but like the last time, she made them pale in comparison. She was a major complication he hadn’t planned for and wasn’t willing to get rid of. At least, not until he worked her out of his system once and for all.
