"Do you have cameras in the library?" Roth interrupted.
His voice was clipped and aggressive. He should tread lightly. He'd found favor with Sullivan, but that could change in an instant, but his temper, barely restrained, made it impossible to act nonchalant and civilized.
Dead silence greeted his inquiry.
"Something happened with my wife. She won't tell me... I need to know what happened."
More silence. He suspected the Trenthams had every inch of their mansion bugged. That's what he would do. The Trenthams weren't idiots. They were cunning and he suspected, had gathered their fair share of intel over the decades of hosting these Balls.
"Someone said or did something to her when I left her in the library." He resisted the urge to ram his fist into the wall. The effort it took to think rationally when he was lightheaded with rage made his voice tremble as he rumbled, "I'll pay any price."
