I have a new, chill video to share with you π₯° Join me as I take you through the creation of my latest artwork β a poppy gouache painting in my sketchbook.
Grab your art supplies and paint alongside me if you like! π¨

In this painting I used following Holbein Acryla Gouache colors:
Blues for the sky:
- D 120 β PALE LAVENDER
- D 104 β PALE AQUA
Greens:
- D 074 β MISTY GREEN
- D 157 β ASH GREEN
- D 064 β VIRIDIAN GREEN
- D 070 β LEAF GREEN
- D 075 β PALE LIME
Reds:
- D 010 β CORAL RED
- D 003 β SCARLET RED
Other colors:
- D 152 β CHINESE WHITE
- D 132 β RAW UMBER (Often mixed with white and a tiny bit of red to paint some pinky beige grass)
- D 094 β CERULEAN BLUE (Mixed with Raw Umber and Scarlet Red to create a very dark color, but not black)
The sketchbook I used for this project is from Arteza, and I must say, I'm quite fond of its thick, textured, mixed-media paper. It's perfect for studies like this, where I want to explore different techniques and textures. However, it may not be the best choice for colored pencils if you prefer smooth blending, which works better on less textured papers. But if your colored pencil drawings lean more towards linear styles, then this sketchbook is definitely a good fit for you.

The brushes I used:
- 500H Resable Holbein Brush no 6 β it's good but so expensive! I think you can find something similar in more affordable price.
- Dagger Brush from Roman Small no 1/4" β I started to use this type of brush recently and I like it a lot! The diagonal shapes allows to paint both wide and very thin lines.
- Winsor and Newton Rigger brush no 0 β it's great for fine lines.

Thank you so much for your comment! 𧑠I like to experiment with all different media, I donβt think thereβs something from basic art supplies that I havenβt tried. But maybe I havenβt heard of some? I feel most comfortable with a pencil and colored pencils. All other media are often challenging for me but I just try to have fun π
It was interesting to see the colors you used at first. They looked so different but the final shades are similar to the reference you used! You never try to copy everything but make it your own style. Thank you for sharing π I really like the different mediums you use for your work. They all look so beautiful! I wonder if there is a medium you didnβt try out or still feel uncomfortable with.
