“Urp. Have, gasp, wheeze, need to, gasp, get this doc back to, pant, Cass.”
Pamela groaned and grunted as she pressed the button on her hover chair to push it forward. The gears churned and shifted loudly, trying their best to get the nearly one ton panthress to her destination.
She did not come into the office much anymore, usually preferring to work from home. She and Terrance were almost exclusively work from home furs, unless there was a big meeting, like there was today. The company was working on expanding their influence into the farm industry and plant production. Thus, she had to be in for a vote.
As her chair got closer and closer to her assistant’s cubicle, the wooly mammoth sized fur heard a creaking noise that only grew deeper and more intense as she drew closer. She leaned forward as best she could, her hips barely coming off the padded chair, to see what was going on.
From behind, she got a good look at Cass, who was deep into her work (well, really deep into another bag of fried oreoes) and had her headphones in. She had not heard Pamela coming, though even if she had, she probably wouldn’t have moved much. The bird was not one to expel unnecessary energy, finding that doing so kept her exhausted and unable to get much done (including most importantly, eating). Thus, she kept her eyes focused on the excel spread sheet in on the screen, typing with one hand and pushing cookies into her beak with the other.
Pamela grinned. She had been just like Cass had been when she started, thin, athletic and full of energy. It had taken awhile for her to let those things go, but once she had, the results were incredible. Lounging around all day, eating whatever whenever, and not worrying about if your rear fit through a door was so freeing and enthralling, one that sometimes got the 1,931 pound fur off and in a constant state of orgasmic bliss.
Almost as enjoyable was watching others get to that point, none more so than Cass. She’d seen how the bird spoke to others and how she acted. She thought she was superior to everyone, all because she could run a mile in under 6 minutes. She had even heard some snide remarks made when she thought no one was listening, about how her “Blimp assed boss” couldn’t even fit in a regular elevator. Now, Pamela could see that Cass was close to that milestone herself, knowing that the bird was probably close to her own size the day she interviewed. Better still, there was no restraint anymore, just non-stop gluttony and indulgence.
Still, as much as Pamela enjoyed this, she did take note of something that worried her. As the bird typed and moved, the chair she sat on seemed to move ever so slightly. Pamela could see, past the mounds of crumbs and junk food boxes and wrappers, that the fully reinforced pole, that connected the top of the chair to the base, was bending inward. It wasn’t too severe yet, but she could tell it was almost in the danger zone.
She thought back to a few years ago when this had happened to her and cringed. Sure, it didn’t mean much or have a big effect on her job status or anything, but it HAD hurt her rear the next day to the point that she needed to sit in an ice bath. As much as she was enjoying Cass being taken down a peg, she did not want the bird to experience this kind of pain.
“Ahem, Cass?”
The bird did not look up. Pamela sighed. She leaned in as far she could into the cubicle, grabbed a finished box of “Gluttco cupcakes” from the back file cabinet in the cube and tossed it in the vicinity of her employee.
The box landed just next to the bag of cookies, prompting the bird to stop her relentless noshing and crane her neck around as best she could. She saw Pamela there, her huge gut sagging over the lip of the hover chair and entering her cube.
“Oh, hey Pam. Have you been waiting long? I was just doing the, chew, market reports for the next quarterly meeting.”
She did not turn the chair all the way around, as it was too close to the wall and that would force her own gargantuan gut to hit the wall. Instead, she just kind of peered towards the back of her space, hoping it wouldn’t seem too rude.
“No problem, pant, Cass. I, whew, have the, gasp, Blinten report, gasp, here. Signed and ready to go. Pant. I’ll just, whew, leave it here for you to get to the copy guys before days end.”
“Tha-thanks. I can go, whew, now if you want.”
“No, no. No rush. It’s only 1:50, just get it to them before 5 and we’re set.”
Cass nodded, which didn’t do much but collapse all of her jowls together.
“You got. Any, anything else?”
Pamela smiled.
“There is one thing. I’m going to put in a request with the maintenance guys and HR to have your chair replaced. You definitely can use one that is more comfortable.
Cass’ eyes widened. She knew what the next chair up was, a hover chair. The chair that showed you were not only obese or morbidly obese, but a complete and utter fat ass who was so big that even industrial sized furniture wasn’t enough for your bulbous body.
“Tha’that’s ok, Pam. I, heh, think, wheeze, this chair still has some life in it”, she stammered, hoping Pamela would believe her.
“No, no, no. I’ve seen this happen before, specifically to me, many moons ago. Trust me, the last thing you want is to sit on a bent steel pole, it is NOT fun.”
“But.”
“Nope, no worries. I’ll go do it now. Should be here first thing in the morning. Your chair should be ok until then. Just don’t jump on it!”
Pamela chuckled a bit and then pressed the button on the chair to go in reverse and back to her office.
As the loud gears churned under the burden of their load, Cass just replayed what had happened in her own head.
“I, I need a hover chair”, she muttered to herself, unable to believe that she was now so fat that she was going to be moving around essentially without any physical activity at all.
This was NOT going to help her mobility issues, not one bit.
