Outgrowing your clothes Pt 14

Arnold School, a 61 year old peacock and Victor’s boss, tried to reassure him as the two sat at the bar, drinking red wine. The Halloween party was in full effect, but Victor was too busy trying to talk business.
“I get that, Arnold, but my resume speaks for itself. And I have only gotten better under your tutelage and feel that I’m the only qualified to…”
The peacock adjusted his clown nose and groaned.
“Vic, it’s a party. Try and have some fun. Please.”
The older male turned and walked back to the dance floor, leaving his “protégé alone at the bar.”
“It’s VicTOR, you miserable old worm”, the horse complained to himself.
He had really hoped that he could get Arnold to award him with the new position after a few glasses of wine, but the peacock had remained steadfast in his position: there would be no declaration of a promotion until the end of the year. It frustrated Victor to no end.
If that wasn’t bad enough, he was stuck in this ridiculous costume, which even though it had been cheap, he couldn’t stand. He had used a pair of suspenders to hold the pants up, but they kept falling from his narrow waist, threatening to expose his designer underwear. The shirt was not much better, as it too was much to large for him, even after he subjected the clothing to a few washes, just to try and shrink them somewhat. This did nothing to affect their size.
Worse, when he had purchased the items, there were no stains on them, but the second he got them out of the wash, he noted brown and yellow marks near the arm pits and chest. He got the sense that whoever wore this before him, they probably did not have the cleanest eating and bathing habits. It should have been enough to get him to look for something else, but it was already October 30th and he wasn’t going to waste any more time or effort on this venture. Thus, he put the clothes on and headed to the party, only to have his boss tell him to “have fun”.
“Have fun, eh. Basically make an ass out of myself, huh?”
He looked at the dance floor, watching many of his fur coworkers drinking and eating without abandon. They were doing what he assumed were attempts at dancing, but they looked ridiculous and silly. The sophisticated employee wouldn’t sink to their level. However, that didn’t mean he wouldn’t mock them though.
The horse grabbed his glass of wine, poured it into the bar’s spill guard, and walked onto the dance floor with the empty glass still in hand.
“Wooooo! Look out everyone! Victor coming through! You can’t touch me on the dance floor! I’m going to cut a rug!”
The horse grabbed his pants with his free and began mockingly trying to dance, a big smirk on his face which all could see, even with a giant pig snout on it. He yelled and acted obnoxiously, hoping to irritate people enough that he’d show them how dumb and ridiculous this was.
It unfortunately had the opposite effect. His fellow workers were enjoying the show, and with each passing minute, seemed to really want him to keep going.
“Whoa, look at Victor on the floor. Didn’t know he had it in him! Go get em Vic” one coworker shouted.
“Not bad at all man, and killer costume”, shouted another.
More and more encouraging comments kept pouring in and Victor was getting agitated. Not only had he been denied his promotion, he was now being cheered on by his idiot coworkers. He couldn’t take it.
“Ha-ha, I think I had too much. Time for me to go. Goodbye, chums!”
With that, he stormed off and out the door.
