Four years have passed since the Diomedes attack, the loss of Princess Celestia and the ascension of Luna and Cadence to sole rulership over Equestria and The Crystal Empire. As Luna struggles to maintain peace in Equestria without her sister, Cadence has helped the Crystal Empire to thrive - but her hard work is threatened when she finds a changeling skulking around the city's streets at night. To prove herself a better ruler than Luna, Cadence must make some harsh decisions regarding what to do with this changeling, who may be a spy for Queen Chrysalis to allow her hive to attack the Empire like she did Cadence's wedding all those years ago. Yet the choices she makes involve Cadence acting more like King Sombra than anyone wants ...
