AFTERNOON UPDATE: Alright, this is a good news/bad news sort of situation, but I have a few minutes and I wanted to share. I am safe, and where I live is safe and is likely to stay safe barring some biblical shift in weather. Unfortunately, however, the same could not be said for my relatives, who apparently lost their home in one of the blazes currently running through Southern California. We're dealing, and everyone in this family is safe, but as noted, I might be a little unpredictable for the foreseeable future.
1/9 UPDATE: First and foremost, I just want to thank all of you who left the outpouring of well-wishes, that was greatly appreciated in a difficult time and brought a tear to this jaded erotica writer's eye. Unfortunately, video evidence from neighbors has proven that my relatives' home is completely gone, barely more than a standing chimney and whatever collapsed into the basement. They are in relatively good spirits, all told, and we are working on a more permanent living situation for them that is quite promising. While things are still chaotic here, I'm getting a little erotica time in today, and look to reestablish more of my routine in the near future. Thank you all, again, for your support and kind words; you guys are amazing.

Once they verified my eligibility (address, identity) the lodging voucher was approved quickly. Hope it is for your folks too.

The good news is apparently FEMA opened up funds for this fire pretty quickly, so we're already getting our people in touch with them. Keeping fingers crossed that doesn't turn into too much of a process. Nevertheless, thank you for the thought and the link, I'll forward it along!

Try Disasterassistance.gov. Hopefully FEMA will move quickly and open an assistance portal for affected peoples. After Milton hit here, it took 4-5 days for them to set ours up, and after 2 days of review, they offered me lodging vouchers to stay in a hotel...despite me specifically mentioning that my house sustained no damage (I just wanted reimbursement for food in the fridge that went bad from power loss).
