Although KO seems like the vet, Kota was the DDT champ back in 09, so he's been around. O would win the belt before 2013. And yes Kota one of the only 1s to ever survive the 1WA. The belt seen at the end was their openweight title similar to NJPW, a belt which O would also win defeating Sami Zayn before the year ends. I feel DDT was the NXT black and gold alongside NJPW. XD

The part that got cut out was Ibushi hitting a moonsault from the top of stage which resulted in him getting from wrestling at this venue until 2018

Banger match and the launchpad for Omega’s career. I know you’re hooked into NJPW stars at the moment but when you get the chance you MUST watch Joe vs Kenta Kobashi. There has been and never will be a crowd like that ever again.

You need to watch okada vs ibushi from wrestle kingdom 14 it's one of the greatest matches I've ever seen. Omega and Ibushi also faced off in the G1 Climax 28 which was incredible aswell

Neither of them are top guys in 2012. Both did a LOT of comedy and tag wrestling up to this point. Omega detractors will point to the matches vs the blowup doll and the child. This match was basically what put them on the trajectory toward being obvious top guys for a lot of people. And with your read on relative skill level in kayfabe is reversed. Kota was seen as the wrestling genius starting to enter his prime. Kenny was a younger foreigner who wasn't at that level at all. He's going all out to prove himself on Kota's level.
