If you love hard hitting matches especially from Shibata, you should watch Shibata vs Ishii from either Wrestle Kingdom 10 or G1 climax 23. Both are fantastic, hard hitting matches and the one from Wrestle Kingdom is the match that made me fall in love with NJPW

It should be all set now! Thank you for joining!

I don't see the video. Also hi I'm new here

DanteOnDeck

I’ll look to fix this! Sorry about that

Enrique Ortiz

Iink on this one is dead for me again mr dante!

Poirate

The fact Shibata nearly died after that match because of his brain bleeding just adds to its legacy

MarcoTheShooter

Ka-zu-chi-ka is how you pronounce it

goops

Shibata is aura incarnate man. Unbothered and willing to trade blows with anyone.

Listen to the commentary especially during entrances bc they’ll usually explain the basic premise of the match and storyline every time You missed shibatas history a bit

i love dpw bleed orange til i die

If you're in for a long one, I'd recommend Kenta Kobashi vs. Kensuke Sasaki (07/18/05), though that one isn't NJPW. For something shorter, and significantly more recent, Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Hirooki Goto (02/11/25) is one of the best NJPW matches this year.

You definitely need to check out ospreay vs Shingo Takagi at wrestling DonTaku 2021,

Kanyon George

Danielson and Shibata did wrestle on AEW also I recommend Super Generation Army (Mitsuharu Misawa & Kenta Kobashi) vs. Holy Demon Army (Toshiaki Kawada & Akira Taue) on Twitter and like i said there it will be the greatest tag team match you’ll ever watch

Steve B

A video that was making the rounds after this match was the song hard knock life but instead of the drums it was replaced with Shibata slapping okada

Steve B

Came from Twitter. Don’t know if you’re taking match suggestions but if you are, you should definitely give mid 2000’s ring of honor a shot. Especially Bryan danielson vs Kenta from glory by honor 5 night 2 and Kenta vs Low ki from final battle 2005. Both matches are on YouTube in full

This fight, and also the Okada vs Omega matches you watched, is part of the record 720 day Okada reign as IWGP Heavyweight champion. He defended the title a number of 12 times (also a record) against people like Omega and Shibata, of course, Naito, Tanahashi, Zack Sabre Jr., Minoru Suzuki, NOAH legend Naomichi Marufuji, and even Cody Rhodes, among others. The entire reign is worth a watch because, even if you already know Okada is going to win, he's always going to give his all and so will his adversary. I would put this title reign only on par with Kenta Kobashi's legendary 735 day reign as GHC Heavyweight champion. A name I'm sure you'll sooner or later become familiar with, and, like many of us, you'll also become a fan.
