Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Spellwork development is advanced research. The stuff that professors do over decades with hordes of PhDs and post-docs. Take Samuel's job for reference. He has basically been spending two decades trying to develop fire-aspected variants of the three fundamental healing spells. That was with a deep understanding of aspect theory, with a broad range of fire-aspected spells to relate to, and a broad range of healing spell variants to reference for their structure. Terry doesn't have Samuel's starting point. He doesn't have any related spellwork he could reference. The closest theoretical aspect would be void, which isn't very well understood either. Above all, Terry isn't ready to lock himself up for decades and become a pure researcher. For the main storyline, there won't be new spells, but Terry is laying the groundwork for (plane-)oscillating spells to be developed afterwards. Researchers first have to get an idea of what oscillating mana can do before optimizing the mana efficiency and add intent with spell structures. What Terry does (and will do) with oscillating aspecting, bursts etc. will, in a future state of the world, be achievable via spellwork for all unaspected mages. Breaking spatial locks. Bypassing gates. Alternative means of blocking transfers. Blind sight. Repositioning immovable objects. More that I don't want to spoil. From that perspective, Terry is already making progress, just without all the benefits of structured magic. I hope that makes sense.

Now that I think of it, is there any reason Terry has been unable to create any new spells based on his mana aspect? I probably forgot something, but new spells got to come from somewhere, it's crazy to think Terry wouldn't make ANY progress on having a 2nd spell.

Oops, sounds like things are starting to kick off. Time for more running for Terry!
